Thanks for the video link. So, do they still have the cars where you ride with your ride partner in front of you instead of beside you? I thought SM @ WDW switched those out for side by side riders. (but it's been a few years since I've been on SM.)

That made no sense to me though, because she sounded exactly like Nora Jones & didn't they complain shortly after because the girl sounded too much like Celine Dion & that they shouldn't imitate anyone but find their own sound?

The judges are always contradicting themselves
Amazing how they really tear into the semi-finalists and these were the people that they picked out of thousands as being the best

The first day is exciting, but it is better to miss the first day than the last day of high school. . . .LOL

Although we did have to wait for a flight for a few hours one time in Orlando, we've never had another challenge getting from Orlando to Virginia

I tend to over-worry about things like this

Sorry I have not been around to much since our phase II site went up. The addition of a puppy, recent illness for DW and myself (I blame Crash, the wind must have been blowing our way) we are fine now and my father being in the hospital this week. I can only shake my head on how Monica has been handling this pace for the last year. Hopefully in a week or two things will settle down.

She wanted to make sure to tell everyone when she gives her notice(she is going to quit working) she will be on the boards.

Hi Everyone! Finally made it onto the board today - Wednesdays are just nuts! It tends to be busy at work and then I have to leave early to take DS8 to Fiddle lesson. THEN, to avoid having another evening booked, we go straight to a Karate lesson (they want him to do 2 lessons per week and this is pretty much the only way to do that and not have the poor kid out 4 nights per week ) We get home a little after 7pm so it is a very, very long day.

On the plus side, Thursday and Friday evenings are totally free this week so I actually get to stay home and relax!

DH just told me that he has to go out of town on a business trip on the 14th. When I said, "your kidding, they're sending you out for the 14th?" He was totally clueless and took several minutes to figure out what was 'special' about the 14th! I just better get flowers out of this one!

DH says we need to really look at them all closely, weigh our options & think about them for a while before we make any final decisions. Whaaaaaat? You can tell he is not a Disser!

Wow - sounds like my DH - he can't seem to understand why I need to worry about this now. And why I had to pay of our first cruise so far in advance of our sailing date. DUH! 90 day mark is Feb 10 - its like pulling teeth I tell you.

You should have seen me do the rope swing in ......Mark another thing off my list that I never have to do again.

Stace - your frankness makes me feel so much better about my mishaps - not that they are any better - its just nice to now that others topple too.

I guess I set myself up for that. But shhhh....don't tell them....they'll wait a long time to see me topple....I'm a WEEBLE!!

And besides, if I drink a lot and the ship is rocking, I'll actually walk straight!!

Found out my Mom fell and broke her wrist so they are operating on Friday morning so I will be away for a few days.I asked her how she was taking care of herself as it is her right wrist and she said she gets dressed very slowly and was putting on her makeup so the second opinion Dr. wouldn't get scared. She is getting a kick out of the Drs and staff not believing she is 90 yrs old. At least she is getting an ego boost. By the way.....

This raises a question for me regarding currency - will the US $ be accepted everywhere we dock or are we going to need to g et any local currencies?

Celestine - some street vendors accepted dollars while we were there but it was actually just as easy to use the ATM. If you use dollars - you get change back which since this is going opposite - you have 2 other stops to use them up in. There are ATM machines everywhere and if you have a bank that refunds you your charge and any foreign charges - that is the best way to go. That way you don't have to get change ahead of time. Also, our experience was that when we paid in dollar bills - they upped the price a bit. Some of the people will try and take a bit of an advantage by not returning a few cents if that's not a problem with you then try it. Heck I even found one man that accepted $0.25. Not many people will do change but dollars they will.

Also, just a tip - if you haggle - settle a price before you pull out your $. On a couple of occassions we had settled a price on dollars and when we tried to pay in pesos - they upped the price. Said it was because of the exchange rate. When we got back on the ship - DH discovered they'd up the price by about $2.00 so you may ask what the price is in pesos.

Overall, if you look them in the face and pretend like you know what the rate is - the majority of the vendors are honest. And as DH is very good with calculations when it comes to $$ that is - we never had a problem . Once or twice I "accidentally" overpaid - but I only tend to do that with amicable talkers and older people. I'mnosy and inquire about their home lifes - gets them talking and many times gets me out of paying the minor change. Just a tip.

You should have seen me do the rope swing in ...oh heck, where were we? I want to say Antigua......I didn't "swing"....I took one feeble step out, and just slid off the rope.
Mark another thing off my list that I never have to do again.

The police took finger prints? I'm not going to diss the local police since my DH is one, no actually I am because you're lucky if they "take a report" around here.

Yes she was amazed they did. They got some good prints. The officer that was at her place had a line up of other neighbors that realized they were missing stuff as well.

Evening.

The approved shopping areas take dollars no problem, but smaller shops may give change in local currency, So keep smaller bills with you for small purchases, only use credit cards in approved large retailers to ensure they are not cloned.

Just remember, if you use credit cards, they usually charge a 3% currancy conversion fee.

Update on Mom and her wrist is her Dr ordered a stress test. I kept asking when they were going to do the preop? So she did part one today and part 2 tomorrow. They resched for Wed next week. Now this morning she was adamant about me coming as soon as possible and now she has banned me from driving by myself and doesn't want me there til next week. Ha!!! She will get a visit on Friday and doesn't know it yet.

I tried to watch the Lost special and didn't get too far. Hopefully I can find time tomorrow.
