I hope not ....This close to the cruise there may be too much important information that might get buried by the post padding

pirate:

Actually, with the exception of the 10 or so smilie posts for the actual pirate: we were really chatting. No fluf......well except for the pic I posted for Tom after it was over.

Oh - talking about horses - I just turned on Animal Planet and there were 2 mistreated horse (Animal Cops Houston)*** I don't know why I watch this - I just get upset!
Same here, but I can't help myself.

Had to show you all a couple of door signs I had "designed".

Really nice signs!!!

Sorry if I'm being dumb... but what is a pirate run?
Penny

pirate:

Penny, you're not being dumb at all -- pirate runs are a little dumb :lmao: but as long as they don't get carried away (pages and pages of "fluff" posts to run up to a post that ends in 000) it can be fun. The one who happens to post the 1000, 2000, etc. post is said to have captured the pirate.

As for whether a pirate run is a good one just a few posts before the 000, or a bad one, is like pornography -- you know it when you see it. IMO it's best not to set a rule (don't do it at all, don't do it until X before the 000) and just let people's good sense handle it. I didn't think tonight's was that crazy.

I'm so proud of DS today. Due to the new bedroom set, he's had to do a LOT of cleaning out in his room. He's now got a bigger bed and a bigger dresser.

He is a bit of a sentimental pack rat. He doesn't want to let go of anything because of the memories they hold. But, he's added another 4 large trash bags full of giveaways today. Added to the 4 we already took to Goodwill yesterday. And the 2 bags of trash he's cleaned out. He's doing really well.

You'd think with all that he'd have nothing left in his room. Think again. There's still one wall of his room that we haven't touched yet. There's a book case, a file cabinet and a huge toybox that hasn't been touched yet. We just did enough to be able to get the bed and dresser in.

Hit a snag so DS and my friend had to make a Home Depot run. The slats they gave us apparently are not from this bed, they were an inch too short. So the boys are out getting lumber and making our own slats.

Many congrats to Trevoy for doing this . . . every time you get a positive thing like this, store it up inside so that you can remember the good signs if things don't always head in the same direction . . .

Once again, I just missed a run! Personally, I don't mind them - if I dont' feel like reading the "fluff" I just skip forward a few pages....

Hi

A question for the wenches:

Have any of you gotten gloves for Princess night yet? If so, where did you get them?

DW just picked out a tiara on ebay, so we ordered it.

That is a gorgeous tiara! Last time, I packed my tiara in with my socks and underwear and just used all those rather smushy things to pad all around it.

Thanks for the link, Julie.
At first my two boys told me they did not want to do this because it was too scary. About 2-3 weeks ago I showed them the video & asked again if they were sure they didn't want to go. After seeing the video they wanted to go. I'm still not sure they won't back out when we get there.

My boys will be there too, I think they will all end up going if the others are doing it...

d'oh, must have been typing at the same time.

I definately think they will be more inclined to try it if they know the other kids are willing.

My DS (8 now, 9 at cruise time) is thrilled to be doing the zipline and is the one that talked DH into doing it. He did a zipline on his trip in December to Minnesota with my parents (part of a ropes corse) and LOVED it. I am sure he would be happy to tell your kids how much fun it is. Also, since he is very small for his age, they will probably feel if that "little kid" can do it, then they can! :rotfl2:

Had to show you all a couple of door signs I had "designed".

Great signs! Have you been working with folks on the DISigns board? I used to hang out there and do some designs, but I didn't have time for that and THIS thread! Great minds must thing a like ... I have been thinking that it was about time to start working on door signs.

Would anyone be interested in a variation on this one? I came up with the idea for our Jan 2007 cruise and one of the other DISers actually put it together. I could change the date or create it without any date so it could be used on any future cruise... Most of us on that cruise had this magnet (most printed their own and I made a couple for people who didn't have color printers) so you knew which rooms wer DISers.

And just for equal billing.....

Wine Tasting - this was NICE. They had a bunch of wine pre-poured but not everyone showed up. So we were able to get some extra tastings. The only drawback was that it was all European wine. They didn't have any domestic wine on this cruise. And we didn't get to try Ice Wine because it was all gone.

Beer Tasting - found out I don't like Guiness

Tequila Tasting - we didn't have all the tequila in front of us at one time. Or maybe "I" didn't have all the tequila in front of me all at one time. I didn't get a picture of all the glasses.

Oops...gotta run. The guys are home with the wood. Gotta go finish the room, then get some dinner.

Sorry the tasting pics are so big, I didn't take the time to edit.

I forgot to take the pic in the beginning. The one with the lemon wedge was a Blue Barracuda (I think, it was a Blue something).

The pics all look awesome. I've only ever done the wine tasting. I think the martinis would be better! And the beer! And the margaritas! (just not all right in a row! )

Thanks, we got it for a good price on ebay. DW was looking at some in David's Bridal.:scared1:

That's a good packing idea. Why take up space with tissue paper when you can use stuff you need anyway?

OMG! Yoru gone for a few months and stuff happens. LOL Just wanted to drop by and found things were all gone. Then when I went to post - DIS was not accepting my password. Had to log off

OMG!

What's going on here? I wuz gone from 3PM my time and now its' 7:28 and TEN PAGES have been heaped on? You're all a bunch of wild party ANIMALS!

What kind of shoes are you planning to wear?
I am thinking about buying some of the water tennis shoe like things from Lands End. They appear to have support but they are made for water and drain well. I am using them for the zipline and for the Aruba Jolly Pirate cruise.
I am the exqact opposite of a shoe horse. If I own 5 pairs total I would be surprised so anything I briong has to serve multiple purposes.
Thanks for the link, Julie.

My DD's 8 and 12 are coming too. We have a lot of kids in this group. Hopefully they will encourage each other to do it.

I think if we get enough people, for an additional fee ($15 pp ??) they would pick us up at port and would also change discount to 25% instead of 15% on line discount.
That would definitely be worth checking into.
If you think about it we should have a good count pretty soon on that excursion since we have already paid- we are going.

Yes, I was on a cruise where someone gave magnets like these out as fish extender gifts . . . but with such a huge group it would probably be a great idea just to post the image and let us make our own to identify the rooms. Great idea.:thumbsup2

Sorry the tasting pics are so big, I didn't take the time to edit.

I did the wine tastings on the Med that were related to the countries we were visiting -- one just for Spanish wines, one for Italian, and one for French.

I'd like to try the beer tasting this time!:goodvibes

OK - I'll try and find some time tomorrow to make a couple versions: one with the date or somthing that identifies the cruise and one plain-vanilla version for those who might prefer that. Hopefully, Tom can post the link to them on the website once they are done.
