8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Why is it I'm getting bombarded right now by Kayak, Expedia and American Express travel to "book my next vacation"!!
Do they not know we're all depressed and in vacation withdrawls!! LOL

Today.....book Club Med.....Fiji....and Atlantis along with "prices slashed" and 24 hour sales!! Yeah, the price needs to be majorly slashed to travel now!

I can call Carla but I don't think so. That would work out really well thought, picking Diane up first in Boston. She could lead sing-a-longs until they pick you up so you could pole dance the rest of the way to FL.

Great. Now Linda says she needs to start stock piling her one dollar bills!

PS She's only kidding. She doesn't want Ellen to hurt her!

Hello all!

Just boarded the Disney Magic and she is definitely shining! The new carpet smell is wonderful and you can feel the bounce beneath your feet. Throughout the common areas of the ship, you can tell the major enhancements, sadly though, the finer details have been missed.

Currently, work is still being done on deck and all three pools are closed and scheduled to be open today sometime.

Staterooms... just the tv swap in my stateroom. Nothing else have been changed out or touched. The stateroom looks VERY worn.

Well, I will post pictures later today (if I can figure out how to).

Kevin

Well, the more and more I look around the ship, the more I WONDER why I ever decided to sail on the Magic.

-All three pools - still closed, Goofy pool is green
-No new furniture at Quiet Cove as promised
-No new stateroom carpet
-No new mattresses (ours is sagging BAD and they are replacing it)
-Stateroom we are in are in VERY bad shape
-Common areas have been re carpeted and look great!
-Beat Street re-done and looks AMAZING!
-The duty free shop is remodeled and is HUGE now. They took out the counter

More to come, including pictures!

Kevin

..

Still looking for the nice lady who asked me to take pictures of her kids at "The Golden Mickeys" after-party in the Atrium.;)

That was me! Sorry, I haven't been on here much lately. I will PM you. Thanks so much for remembering! My dd and Joel110's dd's were the "Cheetah Girls" on the red carpet. :)

I just booked out the airfare for the 3 of us to take our "free" trip to France (it was a perk when we bought some DVC points) .. round trip for the 3 of us would be a little over 13K :scared1: :scared1:
 :scared1: That is crazy:sad2:

Wow. So much for 2 weeks notice!

I wasn't exactly let go, as much as my job (or more to the point my salary) went POOF, and I certainly didn't quit. Our fiscal year starts Oct.1 and my salary didn't make it into the budget - we had to cut about $1 million (1/7 of our budget) - that meant 5 positions and a few projects. I'm sort of a victim of my success - they can't cut most of the program staff (the people who do the 'work' of the organization) because most of their jobs are funded by grants. Guess who got the grants?? Oh yeah...me!

I have a $1.5 million proposal due on my last day - the biggest one the organization has ever written. They sorta need me right now. The whole thing sucks, but at least they are going about it the right way - I got 2 weeks notice and 6 weeks severance. I'm only 50% vested in our 403(b) (non-profit versionof a 401(k)), but they are at least talking about letting me keep 100% since I'm not leaving by choice.

I had interview #2 with one org. this morning. I think they are going to make me an offer, but I'm not sure I will take it. Place seems a bit disfunctional...

I interview at a 3rd place tomorrow morning...still waiting to hear about the job I really, really want that I interviewed for last week...
:dance3: Hope that job comes through soon:flower3:

Wonder if Roger can get the  Banana  bus to run the east coast and pick up all up.....
Road Trip:woohoo:

At any rate - here are a couple of images of me (the trouble maker in red) shot by friends in the audience in the council chamber last nite...

Crash...You're famous:yay: I can say I knew you when;)
Seriously though-
Hope you are successful with saving the pre-school:hug:

eek! I never thought I'd say this....but I think I'm glad I'm not on that cruise.:confused3
When he said the goofy pool is green....I thought...why would they re-paint the pool green.........it looks green and dirty! :scared1:

Hi All

I know that I have been MIA but getting back into reality:sad2: We have been transitioning to our new company at work which has not been fun. Kids have finally gotten back into their school routine but Cherie and I feel like we are Supershuttle running back and forth. Well one of the the good things that came from our being bought by a new company was that I had a chance to cash out a lot of my paid time off without penalty. We have been needing another computer in the house (Madison needed one for school work) so I got a new laptop. I have been waiting to get a new computer so that I could do videos since my other two are just to slow to handle them. I have put together my first video of the cruise (actually a slide show as a movie) so I hope that you enjoy it. I would also like to thank Phil Collins for the music since it was perfect for this and everyones pictures. I would recommend doing it in DVD mode unless you have a really fast internet connection.

Repo Family "New Friends"

:sad1: I miss everyone...

Great video Roger!

Wow was it difficult to get out of bed and come to work this morning.

It is amazing the sheer amount of work I have to do between now and when they've decided they don't need me anymore. :confused3

Oh well. I have an interview today and one on Thursday. Still waiting to hear about the one last week. I think I'd love that job.

Regardless, this week will end on a happy note: I'll be slowly circling the World Showcase eating and drinking in just 96 short hours.

Oh, I hope you hear some good news soon.....

Have a great time in Epcot!

A little late, but.......CONGRATS MIKE!

Oh, and I love the quote in your sig! :goodvibes ;)

Thanks!

I love the saying too!
Wonder where it came from?:confused3 :thumbsup2

PS Now wish me luck on my Journal Club presentation tomorrow. I'm still trying to figure out why they call it Journal Club. That makes it sound fun and social. Unfortunately, it's neither.

Haven't been around much . . . too much going on in our community because of the flood.

There are over 5,000 people still displaced from their homes. Many are beginning to receive the word that their homes have been condemned and they will not be able to get into them.

We are still waiting on word that the president has accepted the request to be declared a federal disaster area. Some rumors say that an announcement can take place as early as tomorrow. We are all keeping our fingers crossed.

There will be people displaced for months before lives can get back to normal.

Sending prayers Fr. Mike!

I'm sorry this is not getting any better any faster. We'll continue to keep your neighbors and communities in our prayers Fr Mike.

We're already talking about a visit to WDW next summer as well - possibly combined with a side trip into WDC. My BIL in Boston was going to come down to WDW and WDC to meet up with us - however the precise dates have not been aired. I tend to think it would be August though. Maybe I can shift our trip to match up with everyone the plans being formed here?

Changing channels here... last nite I spoke with about 100 other families on behaf of our old preschool - which was being threatened with UNFAIR cancellation of thier contract to opertate the school. It seems someone in the city is attempting to abruptly circumvent the bidding process to put a new operator in substitution. The new operator has not been shown to be better qualified or to improve the relationship with the city (revenue or quality of service to the community). EG, the new operator has been CLOSING local pre-schools they have run - they do NOT operate any INFANT care or TODDLER programs - and DO NOT operate a 7-6PM program - only part day ... and they have nothing like the Nationally recognized accredation of our old Roots and Wings program. Furthermore, several examples of questionable conduct and merit have been demonsrated by the city finance people and proposed new operator... and so we had a large organized prescence with several prepared statements ... including one which took several of us to read in consecutave fashion. I was one of 3 speakers who drew loud applause before the mayor requested we hold the applause down. Also, one person saw me specificly speaking on City TV last nite and jumped in their car (ANGRY) over what she heard was happening - and spoke at the council as well. I was one of a couple who were singled out to amplify my comments to the council - as council members were asking me to clearify certain statements I made (infammatory). Yes ... I was a bit outspoken - however it was nominally diplomatic in defense of those who were being UNFAIRLY targeted... and threatened with destruction of thier business and destruction of the preschool which has come to pass as a great local feature of our community. Here's a simple info link for any who might be curious as to what I'm in a "huff" about here... and I might add Rogers' daughter shared a pre-school class with my daughter many years ago here... http://rootswings.info/Background.htm

Well.....the new tv's look great

So sad that not much else got updated

And it is me but doesn't Beat Street look the same? He said it looks fantastic, but looks the same too me...although Upbeat is definitely nicer.
