8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Linda and I had dinner at Palo that night. We sent the kids to dinner with Betsy, Kevin, and Debi. We sat on the verandah and finally drank the bottle of Asti that was in our room since embarkation day and watched the sunset.

Like Jill said, we couldn't turn away. It just kept getting more and more beautiful! These pictures don't do it justice.

I'm working on uploading pictures to the site, in between working on some projects for my rotation. These will get there eventually.

Thanks for posting these as well. We were at Palo the night after Cartagena and also got to see another great sunset although I think Cartagena was my favorite of the entire trip. I've only posted about three pictures to the smugmug site (of the Princess group on the stairway), but will begin posting more this weekend.

Fellow Pirates, I haven't yet posted since we returned from this magical TOAL. I know that I don't post often and I know that I was fortunate to only meet a handful of you while onboard, but I wanted to thank all those who helped contribute to my families enjoyment of this cruise. This is the first time we have ever participated in the FE gifts, and my kids loved checking to see what goodies were waiting each time we returned to our room! I have also really enjoyed looking at everyone's photos on the photo-sharing website. Thanks so much for sharing!

Now, I hate to be a downer, but if anyone could spare some good thoughts and prayers for us, it would be greatly appreciated. We are planning to evacuate within the hour from Hurricane Ike. We live in SE Houston, and right now things are looking pretty grim for us. I'm not taking any chances, and I don't want my kids to have to experience this hurricane up close so we're planning to head out to either San Antonio or Dallas. The evacuation scares me almost as much as the hurricane. We evacuated to San Antonio three years ago from Rita, and a normally 5 hour drive took us 16 hours, many of those without the a/c in the car running due to the possibility of running out of gas and being stranded on the side of the road (which did happen to many people). Anyways, I hate to bring my worries to the board, but it helps a little to talk about it. I've been trying to be brave for my kids, but it hasn't been real easy. My DS is 10 and my DD is 8 and they're old enough to understand that when we leave, we don't know if we'll have a house to come home to. :sad1:

Think good thoughts for us!
Kim

:grouphug: pixiedust: Thoughts and prayers for everyone's safety and that it turns out for you and everyone else who could be affected by Ike.

we will be praying for you

Thank you Deanna. At least she portrays that when she is away from home :rolleyes1 I have to say that Drew and Kylie are two the sweetest kids that I have ever met. If anyone was going to date Madison, Drew would be the only one that I would allow to and live. I hope I did not scare him too much when he dined with Madison that night. I heard that Tom was giving Madison grief about their "date" :lovestruc

Cherie wants everyone to be our neighbors :grouphug: I hope that we can still be friends after this weekends football game. :lmao:

Roger....Drew LOVED dining with you guys! He felt right at home, and thought it was so fun he had his little "inside joke" with Austyn about her best friend "Panini".

Drew has told all his friends about Madison. I think he has a crush. And who can blame him?

BTW.....we are so nervous about Saturday night! It is not looking good for us! I just hope it is a good game, and not a blowout. Please don't rub it in too much on Sunday!

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. To those in Texas  and please be safe. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Last night was my first PTO meeting in 5 yrs where I didn't have to do anything! Didn't volunteer for anything! Did listen to alot of fluff.

Than I got a call from the choir. The ensemble is having a sleep over at a local hotel Saturday night to "Bond." DD had volunteered me to chaparone, but they didn't need me. Now someone backed out and I was asked to do it! This should be fun!:lmao:

This one is for you Coral!!!

disneycruisepanamacanal176.jpg

Thank you! Thank you! What a crappy time for my camera battery to die. :headache:

We loved the Jolly Pirates too! Our favorite was when Coral did that double back flip off the rope swing!

The bus ride back to the pier was about one of the craziest bus rides I've ever had! Even the bus driver was having a good time, driving around in circles. My camera battery was dead by then, so I'm hoping that somebody posts some pictures to the photo sharing site.

That was a BLAST!!! BTW- The only flip I did was on my chest. Smack!

I saw several of Coral on the smugmug site. I think there were a few of her taken at the PJ brunch. Coral is the cute blonde in the pink shirt.

I have not seen it yet but thanks!. My plastic surgeon said he was not going to do anything else to my nose so I needed the "cute" thing. ;)

KIM-

It's probably too late but we are in Dallas and would be happy for your family to stay with us if you need a place to stay!
We have extra room and my parents have a huge house w/ 5 bedrooms not being used too. PM if you are interested.

Thanks Laurie, I am much better today!

Did your dh tell you I saw him at MCO? We left a good spot for you!

Yes he did say he saw you:thumbsup2 (" I got the spot from your friend we sat next to at Pub Night"- he's almost as bad with names as I am:rolleyes: ). He also said you guys were also having a hard time pulling out the cash for food too:sad2: Hard to get use to everything not being free (especially the food):headache:
And it was a great spot:woohoo: We camped there for more than an hour eating lunch and DS actually dosed off on the couch:rotfl:
Thanks !!!

I hope you are all doing well! I am still sick and my Grandpa is now in the hospital.

I hope y'all are better soon!

awwwww
I won't dare play it here... with the kids home! I'm still getting a little whining here and there (by all 3) about how they miss the cruise. :( Well to be fair to them, it was a long time waiting for the cruise so it's a bummer when it's over. :sad1:

Agreed!

Well..we just got home from our Los Angeles County Fair....you might remember that my DD was picked to display her collection. We went by to see if she had won anything..she took 1st place in the Unusual Category (she collects compressed washclothes) She was beyond happy!

:yay: :yay:

funny_animated_pictures_18.gif

Nice...

.... we asked for the king crab legs and got it every now and then. But ,.. gee... I just love how they arranged your shrimp platters!

OK... I'm gonna turn in now that I'm caught up to the last point where I posted. I have a busy series of days ahead of me... soccer ... more soccer .... a sunset beach BBQ sat .... a sunday Disneyland visit and dinner after with friends .... volunteering at 2 schools .... and chores around the house left undone since our TOAL.... and lots of business issues to wrangle. Yeah ... I'm a SAHD with a business of 20+ years to occassionally tend to. Hence I've not been around the DIS too much lately - except today might have been the most I've been around in a few days.

There are sooo many things to do in the next few days ... and I found a little time at this wee hour to browse a little here. Oh ... and we just booked a 12 nite visit to Kona (Waikaloa) and Honolulu for the middle of next year. < wooo hoo! > This time we're taking more than half the time to NOT see relatives in Hawaii by spending it on Kona. Oh ... and I do have relatives there too - but I'll not look em' up! Am I being bad? Otherwise.... It's been busy - but in a very nice way.

Hope all is well with everyone !!!

I'll try to visit tomorrow or the next day if I can get a grip on my "chores"....

The Hawaii trip sounds great!!!
7dd is going to love your Cat pic!! Caterday is her favorite morning -- her daddy shows her Caterday pics every Saturday. :goodvibes

Kim  Dh told me when I got home last night it was upgraded to a Cat 4.
My dad just moved to the coast this summer....... If you ever want a place to stay up this way (I'm off of 287/360 just West of I-45 in Mansfield) your family is welcome at my home.

I have really been missing the boards this past several days. I caught a nasty cold, and I see I'm not the only one. I have been out of it since last weekend, and today is the first day I feel somewhat human again.

They were aggressive yes, but I thought it was kind of fun. They all knew the same phrase "Prices dropping!" LOL! And they really were dropping. The closer I got to the bus, the lower they were. I was eyeing a silver rosary when we first got off the bus at the fortress. The vendor quoted me $15. I told him I would think about it. After our visit to the fortress, and on our way back to the bus he caught me again. As I continued to walk near the bus his price went lower and lower. Just before I stepped on the bus he went to $5. I couldn't refuse that, so I finally bought it.

Now in Aruba.....they wouldn't budge on prices. I saw some little trinkets that were $3 each and I asked if she would take 2 for $5. She said "No, but I will take 2 for $6"

I was impressed with so many of the DIS kids onboard. They were all very polite and friendly.

I'm glad you're feeling better. It sounds like you got some deals!

And those shrimp were good. But after 15 days I don't want shrimp for awhile. It may be my next cruise before I have shrimp cocktail.

:lmao: note to self:when Terri visits do not serve her shrimp.....

My parents were even there and they didn't understand it at all. :sad2:

I saw you the first day and I didn't even notice your parents! LOL!

I feel like we ARE all friends IRL now!

Me, too!

Diane.....Mike is such a good guy. I know we talked about this before the cruise, but after meeting him I can totally agree with you....he is a keeper!

:lmao: :lmao: I've never even let Rob wear MY bra.....or my lipstick.

Rob is eternally grateful......

PLEASE tell me you didn't get a good picture of the fanny slap!

Are you telling us that Rob has asked to wear those items? :rolleyes1
No good photos of the slap either... :sad2: :rotfl2:

Cherie wants everyone to be our neighbors :grouphug: I hope that we can still be friends after this weekends football game. :lmao:

Cheryl, Once I figure out smugmug I will post some of the pictures I have of you and John. I am still sorting through my pictures.

I think I have one of the full moon on the first night that I will put on smugmug. I forgot who asked about it.

I hace great pictures of you and Brett but I will have to figure out how to down load the the site. Just a busy week for me again. I have to start learning to say No when people need volunteers.:rolleyes1

I saw several of Coral on the smugmug site.

< steady silent grinnin' >

Thank you! I got your PM and sent you the info...she will love it for her collection. She is still on cloud 9 after seeing her Blue Ribbon.

Tom........you still make me laugh. I need to quit volunteering once in awhile too.

I am jealous of your trip to Kona. :rolleyes1 I have stayed at Waikaloa twice. It was a beautiful place the last time I stayed there 10 years ago. :woohoo: The big island of Hawaii is my favorite place. :thumbsup2 I got John to do the helicopter ride over the volcano the last time.:scared: :scared:
Just drop in when you can!!! It was a pleasure to get to talk to you a few times.

BTW.........who has the carpet angel picture????????????:confused3 :confused3

Well..we just got home from our Los Angeles County Fair....you might remember that my DD was picked to display her collection. We went by to see if she had won anything..she took 1st place in the Unusual Category (she collects compressed washclothes) She was beyond happy!

By the way..on the last day or so of our cruise..someone put 2 compressed washclothes in her FE...thank you to whomever that was..she was thrilled! (She also loved the POC one that she rec'd earlier in the cruise - thank you for that one as well)

Way to go Tori!! that is great news.

Not all the singing stars wanted to be famous on YouTube, so their performances have been retired.

Andy
oh wow.....I'm glad I watched it before it was retired! LOL....you are all famous in my eyes and I wish I had seen the live performance!:rotfl:

Prayers & pixie dust to you and your family (as well as anybody affected by Ike!). I wish you a safe return with no damage. I'm a worrier...so check in when you can.

I think I have one of the full moon on the first night that I will put on smugmug. I forgot who asked about it.
oh, that was me! thank you so much. I'm puting together a small album for DS and his DGF....or now fiance, with pics of them from the cruise and of course the ring!

We'll be thinking about you! I know you said you're leaving within the hour so no telling when you'll read this... but since you're coming up this way if you need anything, or even a place to stay- our doors are open for you!
Praying for you guys and that you don't sustain much damage... *praying hard*

LOL Ditto that... just read the last 2 pages after replying...

Have you heard more about the storm and the extent of it? My mom seems to be freaking out -she thinks it will affect us (our electricity and such- which is important to her because of her condition. She can't go without electricity so she has the generator which won't last long- so she'd end up in a hospital I suppose- but what if they don't have electricity either?)

Anyway I don't really see how it would affect us here... I imagined that those escaping the effects of the hurricane would be coming TO our area. ?

BTW.........who has the carpet angel picture????????????:confused3 :confused3

Oops! At least one of those would be me. I still have not convinced Bill to drop everything and download all the pictures. I will work on that next.
Bill has had a few pressing isues waiting for him when we got back.
He is Pres of our HOA. We have a High School right across our street from our subdivision. Since they are doing construction, the kid are parking in our neighborhood. Since we are a fenced neighborhood, they are jumping the 8 foot fence to get to the street and school. The neighbors are getting all upset and one of the cars has a shot gun in their back seat. This is Texas after all and it is not concealed so legal but for Pete's sake! WTH would a HS student need a shotgun in the back of a Firebird for God's sake? Idiots! :sad2:

I'm glad you're feeling better. It sounds like you got some deals!

Are you telling us that Rob has asked to wear those items? :rolleyes1
No good photos of the slap either... :sad2: :rotfl2:

I did get a good deal! And please tell Samantha the rosary she brought me from World Youth Day has a place of honor right next to my bed! I really liked that rosary a lot! Since the Hail Mary beads are not separpated, it is more "condensed" than most rosaries. So it's a good size to set next to my bed. Please tell her "thank you" once again from me. I will never forget her (and you)!

And no......Rob has never asked to wear my bra or lipstick! :rotfl: :rotfl: He would kill me if I didn't set the record staright on that one!

I miss you Deanna!!!

Miss you too Cheryl!

I sometimes laugh out loud when I think of the fun times we all shared. I keep seeing you whip your hairpiece off.....Oh man, you are hysterical!!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If I had a job, I would be so tempted to take this offer. Heck, even without a job, I'm tempted.

12 night Med cruise on NCL, balcony stateroom, with free air from select cities, $1999.
NCL Deal

Kim - stay safe and hope to hear from you soon

For those that commented on DS's hearing, yes I understand about the low tones and such. I just thought it was hilarious that I can scream and holler for him and he doesn't hear me. But he seriously jetted out of his room when hearing the horn. Guess I need to save it to my hard drive and if I need to call him in the future, just play that. :rotfl:
