I have discovered the upside to 105 degree heat. I decided to use the trampoline to lay out and dry the clothes (I do not put much in the dryer). They dried FAST!! I usually have to leave them a couple of days to fully dry. Today- 20 mins and completely dry.

great idea..:thumbsup2

WOW! How long have you been a Disney Fan? You have so many posts, how long have you been on the DIS?

Gotta go - time to buy more stuff for the TOAL!!!

Firstly on the Dis it says March 2004, but that wasn't actually the start, I was here earlier in 200/2001/2002 but posted firstly on the Resorts boards, then here, under another name, I stopped in 2002 after my first DCL cruise, and had a two year gap, and forgot my original log in during that time, so set up a new one.

Secondly its a bit 'chicken and Egg' on Disney, I used to travel Europe a lot, mainly Greece all of the Islands, then when I first started coming to the USA, it was on Princess cruises, and on one we had a pre stay at WDW.

So the cruise, started me going to WDW, Then young kids came along, so it was WDW only, and then in 2002, we went back to cruising but this time DCL, so full circle.

The Mrs and me also did DIsneyland on a Western USA tour well before the kids, this will be my 3rd visit there, I have also been to Disneyland Paris.

This is my 3rd time through Panama once on Princess and once before on DCL

But the family have said we want to cut the Disney bit down, the problem is what else will match?

or we could group together in the internet cafe and with wireless and continue chatting . . .too bad access isn't free to all . . .

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: somehow i just think that is NOT gonna be a problem,..:rotfl2: :thumbsup2

If we decide to rebook onboard and later have to add another guest, is that possible?
Thanks!!

Yes you can but the rate for the person being added will be prevailing rates at that time.

The other thing you may run into is that if the category / lifeboat for area are full you will not be able to add on the person even if the room would fit that person

The best thing to do is to add the person when you make the reservation and if they decide not to cruise you can take them off before the final payment is due.

Get DH to lock away the credit card, its habit forming,

I have my 2009 Vacation all organized, WDW Contemporary- booked and deposit paid, Eastern Caribbean cruise, paid up fully, and a Villa in Orlando, 50% paid. Flights and car hire organized and deposits paid.

Andrew --

Can you have long and lengthy discussion with my DH about planning ahead and paying things off WAY ahead of time . . .LOL. He does really great with bills, cars, loans, and mortgages, but he struggling with the vacation thing.

With half off the downpayment, we're hoping to reserve another on the ship, too. I'm praying for the Med in 2010 (if can wait that long for another cruise), but DH didn't want to commit . . .hey he didn't want to commit to this trip until the DAY of the initial reservations. He is excited! and really needs this LONG vacation . . .

So Andrew, can you help me out?? Maybe encourage him to start spending time on the boards. He says he's going to get on here before the trip so he's not so much a stranger. . .

Thanks. I can't add that person yet because he/she doesn't exist yet :) DH and I are hoping to start trying for a baby soon and I thought we might take him/her at that point, but I wasn't sure how that was handled.

As above but if the overall capacity of the ship on adults nad kids is met you cannot add, IE you might have space or beds in your room, but the ship might be full for lifeboats and saftey limits

I will try, its worth booking on board to get the discount, and bounce on the phantom booking date ( for 2009) to 2010.

I understand the strong 'hint' its the Baltic sea in 2010 from May to August with two repos to/from USA.-Not the Med.
Most likely 10/11 night cruises, maybe to St Petersburg in Russia, that would be nice, and places such as Amsterdam, Hamburg Germany, Copenhagen Denmark etc.

Only one rumor seems to be coming out at this time, maybe we will find out more on this cruise?

Well then - congratulations in advance and good luck :)
You can still add the extra person as a TBA (to be announced) and just add the particulars later on

It was more gutteral than distinct words, but you're in the right direction.

Now.......who wants to be a Lumberjack?

Andy

I can't - already have a great job at the Ministry of Silly Walks....

ON MSN today:

Charging for checked luggage and legroom isn’t enough for some carriers — starting today (Aug. 1), coach passengers flying aboard US Airways Inc. must pay for a drink of water.

This morning, US Airways began charging fliers $2 for bottled water and sodas and $1 for teas and coffees. First class members, trans-Atlantic passengers and a select group of others are exempt from the extra fees.

Soon we will be charged if we want to use the bathrooms...

then for seatbelts...

then for the safety instruction cards...

oxygen masks (if necessary)

YES! Haven't found Mexican food I like outside of CA either, except in Mexico of course.

I just don't even bother with Mexican or Chinese when I travel any more.

Not sure if what I have in CA is more authentic or not, but that's what I'm used to and that's what I prefer. However when I spent a week in Puerto Vallarta, the food was the same as what we've got here. So I guess many of our local immigrants are from the PV region??

That's funny...I was just mentioning to a co-worker yesterday how different Mexican food is in Denver than in Kansas City. I always knew that BBQ was different throughout the country (Texas style, Memphis sytle, Carolina Style and of course, the best -- KC Style). But Mexican and Chinese food too vary by region?!

Christopher! You know that Texas has the only true BBQ! ;) I  smoked brisket!!!

I really shoundn't be posting - too much to do - but this caught my eye.

There are certainly regional differences within the USA for both Mexican and Chinese food, but part of that is also that there are vast regional differences within each of those countries. You will often find that certain parts of the USA will have Mexican-Americans or Chinese-Americans that immigrated from particular regions in the "old country". I have heard that most of the Mexican immigrants around Chicago are mostly from a single area in Mexico. In my town (which is about 1/2 hispanic - many of which are 3rd/4th/5th generation) are from only a couple TOWNS in Mexico. It is probably due to when people are deciding to immigrate, it is easier to go where "Uncle Jose" lives that to pick some area where you know no one. The food that I consider "authentic" Mexican is the local food from that area - it has very little in common with the food from the Yucatan or the Mexican Riviera. It is similar to "Tex-Mex" but I am nearly always disapointed with the food at any of the chain type restaurants - the spices/cheeses/etc just don't seem "right"
Pamela

And what Pamela has said about *ethnic* food. I know that the Mexican Food in California is *Pacific Mexican* things like fish, etc.... We don't do any seafood/fish in *our* Mexican food.
And little things like when we travel to the Pacific parts of Mexico we are served small limes with our hard rolls (to squeeze onto the rolls), they don't do that in other parts of Mexico.
And I've never had the type of Chinese food that I had in China here in the States. I will say that I only ate in pretty upscale type resturants in Kowloon (and they were Chinese resturants -- none of them even had forks!). DH has eaten in little *hole in the wall* type places in mainland China (factory areas) and he is convinced that most of China exports any part of an animal that is really worth eating. I won't tell you what parts he thought he was served..... :scared1:

That's ok ;) I'm still travelling on my UK passport, they tried to schedule the oath ceremony for my US citizenship on Aug 21st (only got the letter last week) - ha, they're rescheduling me.

Andy

We were just looking at dh's citizenship papers yesterday!!! He became a citizen in January 1992 -- he was born in Canada and his parents never registered his or his brother's births with the US Embassy so, they had to go through the citizenship process. We weren't able to be at his swearing in since he had to fly in and drive straight there and then fly right back out.

I've also got Pre-Cruise Depression . . . try as I might, I cannot find any way to fit Disney into homilies the next two weekends. How am I ever going to keep focused?! :rotfl:

I could get the children more excited about Church if they got to listen to a Homily that included Disney.....

My plan is ------ I HAVE NO PLAN...

However, i am keeping all the laundry washed and sorted so at least it's all clean and just needs to be put in suitcases.

DH and Me will do ours this week. (the other one ;) will happen the following week.
I need to do a toiletries round up this week though.

I am so happy for y'all that Devon is coming with you. Y'all are going to make such wonderful family memories!!!

At least he didn't wait until til 2 weeks before the cruise to decide he wanted to go!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Makes me wish I had a trampoline!

ABD???? They have some really cool ones..... I have friends that are considering the Galapagos Island one for next year.... :thumbsup2

Speaking of training. They had me down for internet training next week. Changed my 4day to a 5 day and that would have meant not being able to see my Mom before the trip. Thursday is my Birthday and we always meet. So now I haven't a clue as to when they will reschedule.

Hope everything works out!

Chrissie

I'm surprised it wasn't.....that is the game he really stresses over each season.

I have a call into my doctor for antibiotics (just in case) because I ALWAYS get a sinus infection when I change climates. I have about an eight year history of this and have had one sinus surgery. If I don't jump on it right away, it leads to bronchitus - which is way worse.:scared1:

I have sinus issues too! They can be MISERABLE!

... on a sandwich spread with spam.

Lots and lots of spam....

SPAM? as in canned spam?

I would absolutely add the baby now. You don't pay a deposit for anyone under 3 years old. I have run into a lot of dates this fall where we can't book a room because the ship is full as far as children under 3 go. You just tell them it is a TBA person and they will add them accordingly.
