Anyone know why the historic walking tour of Cartagena wouldn't be recommended for women who are expecting?? I'm not expecting, but I'm curious. This is something we are hoping for next year and I don't want to do anything to compromise our chances. I was wondering if it was anything health related.

We have been told we talk funny, but we say we invented it!

One trip to the US we met up with a friend from Georgia and her family, she had two really cute boys aged 2 and 4.

The 4 year old was fascinated by us and we couldn't work out why. Later in the evening he looked and me and said "stop talking with that funny voice" - he thought we'd been teasing him all day by talking "funny".

My friend had to try to explain an "accent" to a 4 year old - luckily their grandmother was from Korea so she explained it by saying "you know how grandma sometimes talks and you can't understand her....?". We just thought it was hilarious!

On another group I chat in, I was told the other night to type slow so they could understand my accent. :rotfl:

Thats one of the best detailed posts I have read on Palo tipping ever, there is often so much debate on this on the main forum, who does/ who doesn't who think its included in the service charge.

This gives good direction.

I have always 'doubled' the PALO charge, per person as a tip, so ie a $15pp charge, I will tip $15pp. Maybe right/ maybe wrong, but the regular Palo staff always seem to be happy every time I see them.

This includes the Palo private room ,where each stateroom ( ie reservation) gets a separate bill and you can add a tip.

I have seen many different levels of tips, in Palo, ( rubbernecking) and see people do tip how they feel, or even not at all.

I actually asked this on the Dis Unplugged Podcast some months back and they answered it on the show. Their reply was to consider tipping around the same amount as the service charge.

Roger/Tom - do you know where abouts in the old threads did we have the discussion about cameras + the humidity. My search skills when it comes to the DIS are not the greatest. I wanted to go back and have a reread just so all the important points are in my mind. We went to the camera shop - not very helpful. He wanted us to purchase a silica pack that needs to be microwaved every few days - like that is going to happen :rotfl2: We haven't got extremely expensive cameras but don't want them ruined by the humidity either. Wonder how much we need to worry about the humidity with the Olympus SW850 because of it being water proof?

Ken (DH) is wondering about the stash of little silica packs that he has kept over the years from when we have gotten various things - they are pretty small. Any thoughts?

Off to a bbq - I'll check back later.

The silia packs are only of use in sealed underwater housings. They need a relatively small air space to be effective.

I'm not bothering to bring anything other than the cameras this trip.

Any condensation which occurs when you go from the AC of the ships interior to the decks will dissapate in a few miutes.

I would check the rest of description, is it up down steps, or strenuous? DCL tends to err on the side of caution.

CRUISE QUESTION ALERT:

We have just a few items left on our cruise shopping list and one is bug repellant for ziplining at PV. The bugs aren't too bad here so anything works well to keep the mosquitos at bay. However, we're not used to having to wear bug spray during the day, so wondered what type/brand is recommended for the jungles of PV.

Thanks!

I have sunscreen with built in insect repellent - I think a few different brands do this and its nice to only have to smother yourself with one lot of chemicals.

Just in case its pouring down come transit day, I picked up one of these. Not cheap, but this is the TOAL.

Its an Aquatech Sports Shield

I don't mind getting soaked, but the 40D does.

Gotta slow down. I thought this said "Hang in there...I will get butter..."

MMM butter... no carbs...

Me too...it could be much worse though.

I don't see how.

that we HAD to have for this cruise to make it complete....BOBBY!!! He is all set with his passport and the kids are excited to have him joining us on the Magic once again.

ahh but just where did brack leave evil bobby?

Okay! I'm getting more stuff done getting ready for this trip! I just booked my post cruise room reservations last week and I just booked my return flights home today!

I think next week I might start a packing list to see what I might need to bring with me. (Last Eastbound Repo I didn't start my actual packing until about 45 mins before I left for the port).

You can tell you aren't a woman! :rotfl2:

I've started a pile on the floor in my closet. I think tomorrow I may put it in a suitcase or box.....

:rotfl2: That goes along with people asking us (people from TX) about our horses & Oil wells! :lmao: :rotfl2:

oooh oooh I was asked once "Do you have grass in NM?" :lmao: :lmao: My response: Yes some people have lawns....

I would try to contact a supervisor at DCL about that. My understanding is that the no ice is so that the coolers do not leak when going through the xray machine and damage it since they need to be placed on their side to fit through. If you have a doctor's note for a medical purpose that should be different IMO but I do not know personally.

Maybe I'll call the special needs woman again and ask about this... Another question... If anyone has actually had a real fridge in the room is it cold enough to freeze the blue packs anyway? Much rather use the blue packs since they melt slower than regular ice and regular ice will leak water all over all the time...

Had to look at mine after reading your post- ours shows Monday at Sea- but nothing about panama canal. weird, but we obviously have to go thru there. I guess they consider that a "sea" day. :)

Really? Mine doesn't even show "Monday"... Friday: Sea Day, Saturday: Sea Day, Tuesday: Cartagena....

Cool pix from another thread....

Thanks, Tom!

Cool! All of my Pirate Night pics are kind of cruddy from our last cruise... it was rainig and there was no way I was getting my Digital Rebel wet! LOL!

I don't see how.

 I do know how bleak things must seem right now. I will continue to pray for all of your intentions. (job and a strong relationship with your dd)
But, things could be ALOT worse. You are not standing at the hospital bedside of your child. As a mom and aunt that has done that and not known what the outcome would be..... The pain is more then I thought I could stand.....

I don't know the answer about the fridge.

I am Back!!!!

Thanks for all your prayers for DS. I never said but he was in the ER the same time with my DGD(when she was admitted for Salmonella) 3 weeks ago.:sad2: Since John had heart attack at 41.... my DS thought he was having one and with all the history....the doctors were worried too!!. It took 3 weeks in Michigan to schedule a Heart Scan non-invasive angiogram. His results were not good so left for Michigan by train. :scared: He had angiogram on Thursday. The great news is he takes after me and has good genes as far as heart problems. :yay: :yay: Doctors think he had a blood clot that went to his lungs that caused severe chest pains or he had a virus!!:rolleyes1

I hope I did not miss anything too important as I think I will just not read everything I missed for 5 days.:flower3:

I did get my documents which were on the porch for 4 days!!:rolleyes1 I guess it is for real now!!!:dance3: :dance3:

Talk with you all tomorrow. I am first going to get my Tiara!!:worship: :worship:

Back from some afternoon shopping to get cat food. Along the way I got a swimsuit finally - thank you Sports Basement. Also found a dress at Lane Bryant and 2 at Ross. Also found 2 tops at Lane Bryant to go with the dress pants I found the other day at the Dress Barn as well as a pair of shorts and carpis.

So I am going to get things organized tomorrow morning and see what else I may need because I have to get to Sears in San Bruno (on public transportation) since my vaccum died the other day and bought a new one today online for in-store pick-up. I figured since I am down there I will hit the Target and what else I can find that I may need or is a good deal. (maybe will find a tiara)

Monica - If I am successful finding the skirt I have in mind (I saw it earlier this summer) I may take you up on borrowing your previous Pirate costume if it is still available.
