I did too. Raw cookie dough and cake mix as well (remember licking the pot?). I don't recall ever getting sick.

I wonder what has changed?

1. Were our immune systems tougher (back before everything was anti-bacterial we may have been exposed to more stuff and thus better able to fight off bugs).

2. Was contamination less of a problem? Certainly there's a lot more antibiotic resistant stuff now, but was food generally cleaner back then?

3. Are we just being paranoid? We get all freaked out over a dozen cases in a country of 300 million. Perhaps the odds of getting sick really are similar to winning the lottery, and it was just as dangerous then as it is now, except now we're just more frightened and risk averse than people were then?

Probably a bit of all three, but I wonder which are the greater factors?

I know what you mean...we always licked the bowl after mom made a cake...DH eats his meat "as rare as humanly possible" that's how he orders it..and has never gotten sick (makes me feel icky but that's different)

We ate the potato salad at the picnic that was out for hours .. :lmao:

They moved our morning flight 25 minutes earlier, but not the 2nd leg of our flight. It just makes for a longer layover, but it's not too bad. We still land in CA at a decent time. I just hope it stays that way.

I have to check on DH flight home from Fl...see if they changed anything..luckily we are at WDW so if it moves earlier...it's not a problem.

Atleast it was the 1st leg and not the 2nd..then you would have to worry about making the connection.

I remember when I was a kid eating raw hamburg all the time......and my parents let me :scared1: :scared1:

Steak tartar

I love steak tartar and my friend's mom made the best med rare prime rib...

Hmm i had two dresses.. (the one i wore was bought 4 weeks before our wedding... Don't ask...(it wasn't a fit problem either)

I paid about $299 for mine, I think. Went with mom and sis to David's and it was the first dress they brought me to try on. After a dozen more, I went back to this one. I bought the veil online for like $10 (it feels cheap, but you can't tell in the pics).

THank God for David's :worship: I made my own veil though...

Or have it sealed away in case a daughter might want it then end up with boys instead (ask my wife, we moved her preserved dress to the new house when boys were 7 and 9)....

Hey my dress has now lived in over 5 houses....

Confession....I still  both....

Still love raw cookie dough, but I usually stay out to be safe. When I was a kid in boy scouts, I recall my Order of the Arrow ordeal where I had to fast for a day. The next morning, they gave us a glass of milk and a raw egg for breakfast! I bet they don't do that anymore.

For us, we're extra safe with the raw chicken, eggs, hamburger, etc. mainly because we've experienced salmonella in the family -- not fun.

Gotta love airline pricing structures! Fortunately for us the direct flights are actually less money as there is one less landing fee. We're paying $81 pp for a direct flight to LAX vs about $90 pp for an indirect to SNA.

That's a great deal!

We're flying into SNA now, instead of LAX. I think I'm actually happy about that. I heard it's a pretty easy airport to get around in.

DD loves choc chip cookie dough ice cream..I wonder if it is actually raw cookie dough...maybe I shouldn't let her have it...:)

Neither one is bad...pretty easy in and out...LAX is just busier but SNA can be pretty busy too.

I prefer my meat to say "Moo" when I bite into it. I think I'll be laying low on the burgers for a while though.
