I was just reading a report from someone who went on the Mex Riviera cruise June 22-29, and this was very interesting (I hope we see things like this!):

SEA LIFE SEEN FROM SHIP: If you're patient, you might see some sea life from the ship. On our first day at sea, as we went down the Baja peninsula, there was a bonanza of sightings. There were whales, a large pod of dolphins, an school of enormous squid, and many flying fish. Flying fish look like enormous dragonflies emerging from under the forward end of the ship. Then they sail just above the water for as much as 50 yards before plopping themselves back in the water. Your kids will love them because they're quite bizarre. There are also large sea birds, like pelicans and frigate birds (which have a dark v-shaped tail). It seemed like the area around the tip of Baja had the most to see, so keep an eye out.

Very interesting.............I will be keeping an eye out for such creatures.

Glove Length: It really doesn't matter,I don't think. Mine are above the elbow, but that's what I found on Ebay.

Shipping Ahead: I plan on shipping pirate costumes,FE Gifts and my Formals ahead to Port. I think what you've actually heard about was shipping items ahead to Port Canaveral, not the Port of Los Angeles. ;)

I kinda would have liked the longer length............to late to return but that's o.k. it will look o.k with dress.

PM sent.

dahuffy - As a dog lover you would appreciate this story. Today I took our 1 yr old Min. Schnauzer to the vet for vac. Her name is Belle. A few minutes after I left the vet, Belle threw up so I stopped to clean the van. When I got back into the van, she collapsed on the seat. I rushed her back to the vet. They rushed her to the back and started working on her. She had gone into anaphylactic shock! After much care, she is home recovering now.

Wow! never thought of a dog having a reaction like that. Never crossed my mind.Glad it worked out!

DH was helping me....

I had to stop him several times when he asked..."Can't you just stick them anywhere?":scared1:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Bribery will get you everywhere!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

 :scared1:  :scared1:

Did you accept my bribe? I can't remember,:rotfl2:

We did stay there...I really liked it there. You can have the front desk call ahead for a cab, no problem. I don't know how much it would cost, but it really is only about a 5 minute drive...and that's if you hit the one red light. So how much cab fare would that be??

Thanks Stace, cab shouldn't be much at all.

Oh my, how frightening that must have been for you!! Was it a reaction to the shot? Please keep us posted on how she's doing.

Seventeen is a lot of years!! I'm on year 11 running my own website design company. I NEVER thought I'd still get to be doing this. The demand continues. DH is on year 12 (I think) with his company (ya know . . the one that makes him glow in the dark . . go nuclear!). . . I think our kids will end up needing to be more flexible. Technology changes SO quickly (again why I'm so surprised I still get to design websites!)

I am going to guess that is why DH has to spend a fortune on Tech books. :)

Happy Birthday Claire!

HAPPY CANADA DAY

to SmeeCanada and any other Canadian DISer's out there!!!

Happy Canada Day to you.

I like Janet Evanovich but I LOVE Jodi Piccoult - if you have never read anything written by her, I recommend My Sister's Keeper first then read 19 Minutes and Vanishing Acts - awesome summer reads, books you will not be able to put down.

Did you see the movie this past weekend on lifetime? It was called the 10th circle. Jodi Piccoult wrote the book.

Disney's proposed/rumored $300 per ticket park

rumored here

Has anyone ever used Prime Time Shuttle service in LA? If so, are they good. I made a reservation through them because they would allow for a private van vs a shared van for less than $10 over the cost of Super Shuttle.

Thanks!

LOL . . .yeah . . .I don't spend so much on books as I do in online membership to groups where I can continue to learn or at least absorb the latest and greatest trends in the areas I am focused . .. in technology you gotta be focused otherwise you go crazy . . . I guess all geeks (myself included) are a bit crazy anyway.

I'm psyched we're cruising NEXT MONTH . .. whooopppppeeee!princess:

Back from Vegas and working like a dog.

In fact I am writing this in a car ride home (after 9pm they give us a car to go home).

And with things so crazy busy they gave me a super small light weight laptop w a Verizon mobile card.

All's quiet on the TOAL front....

Wish everyone well.

?

Books I would suggest: Beverly Lewis
The Covenant
The Betrayal
The Sacrifice
The Prodigal
The Revelation

These books are fabulous!! When I was done, I felt like I knew this family as if they lived down the street! I have let quite a few people read them and they all loved them and wanted more. Beverly Lewis has a bunch of book series like this. I am bringing another one of her series with me on the TOAL. I can bring this paperback set if someone would like to read them. I would like to get them back though. They are a quick read so many could read them. Just let me know.

I will have to look into getting a couple of these this summer from our local library - I love a good easy read!

My kids think this is so cool! We watched the trials Sunday, we'll watch them again tonight. WE LOVE SWIMMING!!! (my house smells like chlorine a lot too.);)

We watched it too and watched the world record being broken - my dd9 was in total awe!

OMG.............I am glad she is okay! I never never never heard of this type of reaction - now I will be so worried every time we go to the vet!

I have it on my DVR- now I just have to find time to watch it. If I remember right the book was pretty good too...........My sisters keeper will be out soon and I can't wait to see it!

Yes, it was the shots. She had two so they are not sure which one she reacted to. Next time they said they will pretreat her and then watch her for a couple hours afterward. It was very scary. I was glad the boys were not with me. I was not sure what was going on. It was at PetSmart so I could see through the glass and there were 3 nurses and a doctor working on her. The nurse came out and said they were trying to stabilizer her. She stayed there most of the day. When I went to Starbucks after I left her there, as I was paying, they asked me if I was having a good day. I started to cry and said no and told her why. She gave me my money back and said my drink was on her - which made me cry more!

She is better but I won't feel better for a few more days when I stop having to give her Benadryl.

I will let you know how she is doing in a few days. Thanks to all!

Thanks!

I've not used them but to have reservations from LAX -> Doubletree and then from the DT to port.

Bar the bad weather 'cabo' day in 2005, I saw a lot of sea life from our verandah and just spent hours there watching, we saw lots of Dolphins, flying fish as mentioned and on a very regular basis,

I am hoping again we will see more, one funny thing was watching an Alligator at the entrance to the Panama canal, just feet form the ship.

2010

Lots of questions on the main board about DCL in 2010, where would yo like the ships to go? and or, where do you think they will go? Would the Economy stop you booking a cruise? Anyone re-booking on board, for a 10% discount?

Personally I hope for another Med cruise, as the Magic is in the Caribbean for 2009, it is very likely it will be off on its travels for summer 2010.

I hope for the Med, if it isn't that, I think it will be a return to the West coast with two more panama Repos.

We are going to book on board for a dummy date. To be honest I am getting very concerned about how things are going with the economy. I am glad that things weren't this way last year or we might have cancelled.

I am sorry about your stroke. That is my fear for DH. Seven yrs ago he had a migraine so bad that he went into convulsions. It was his 40th b-day and I was 8mths pg with youngest dd........... He takes Zomig.

I just went to a *doc in the box*. My Dr died a few years ago and I haven't seen anyone since.

It could have been worse........It's a wake up call. I was taking topamax for migraines but it was causing memory problems. Scary stuff, maybe your DH should start taking asprin. Worth it to talk with Dr. about. doc in the box?? Haven't heard of that. :surfweb:

You still owe me a phone call!!:rolleyes1

Speaking of phone calls...........don't you owe me one by now.:rolleyes1
