She has to be on deck - she's on Ray Watch with Diane!

Diane and I will be guarding the boat from the flying stingrays from the nearest bar stools!!!

There is always a chance to see whales but the odds will be against us. I have heard of some that live year round in Cabo. You know the whales that talk amongst themselves, "Hey do you really want to swim all the way up to Alaska this summer. Nah, lets stay here and enjoy the nachos and tequila. We can eat that plankton next year." On our 2005 cruise down the coast we saw a pod of about 30 dolphins that put on quite a show for almost 30 mins. The flying fish are awesome and much bigger than you think.

We're all good here, thanks for asking. Right now DD is in charge of watching the neighbors cats while the neighbors are away all week. This has a nice perk because they have a built in pool & they told us to use it as much as we like. It's been fun, but I got eaten alive the other night & my ankles look just lovely. Hope they clear up before NEXT MONTH.

We just took out a home equity loan to do some more renovations to this house. We go back & forth about renovating to sell or renovating to make it what we want & stay.

Doesn't hurt to have some extra money on hand for this trip coming up either. I need new clothes, souveniers, drinks of the day....

As for school....I STILL haven't heard back from the professor. He told me weeks ago he was going to send my thesis back to me & nothing yet. So I emailed him AGAIN last week & I'm waiting to hear. I'm starting to get nervous because if I don't get this done by the fall I will have to reapply for graduation, which means more money for them! But I really really want this off my back before the TOAL!

Eh no cap & gown here, since I didn't take the walk. They'll be mailing me my diploma if I ever actually complete my final three gosh darn credits!!!

We'll be spending the bulk of our time in WA. We have family property in Cle Elum - just over the pass and through the woods from you. If you feel a sudden urge to come clear brush, cut down trees, and engage in other forestry activities, let me know. Of course, we generally knock off in the afternoons.

Heck, we could have a forest clearing, wood burning hot tub soakin', Mt Stewart gazin', BBQin' mini-meet. Loads of space to camp if that's your thing. And we've got satellite internet in case you get withdrawl.

We very nearly had two. My BFF and her guide were thinking about coming. But, she's retiring her current guide, and has to be at training with her new guide during the cruise. Probably just as well, a Cat 4 with five people and a dog was going to be more than a bit crowded.

We're getting her retired guide temporarily when we get back! Until the permanent home can take her. She fits in nicely with our pack. And BFF trusts us not let her get away with anything.

So when exactly will you be up here? We could maybe swing a visit over the mountains!
That must be so hard to retire her guide. At least she'll be with you temporarily!

Thanks for the info Stace. Didn't you stay at DT when you wen't on your cruise a couple weeks ago? Is it easy to get a cab? Do you know how much?

We did stay there...I really liked it there. You can have the front desk call ahead for a cab, no problem. I don't know how much it would cost, but it really is only about a 5 minute drive...and that's if you hit the one red light. So how much cab fare would that be??

Somewhere I have a picture of two flying fish, resting on the ocean floor. I was told it was pretty rare to see them like that. They were bigger than I thought, since I'd only seen them "flying" before.

Now I feel spoiled. There are two Disney stores within 15 minutes of here and it seems both will remain open (Oakridge Mall and Valley Faire Mall). I guess they must both be profitable (hard to imagine rents being low at either location).

I vaguely recall Alicia telling me a merchant atour local mall was ranting about thier rent jumping 4-5x higher!!! OK... I just asked Alicia to verify what she recalled... and it was a staff member in one of her offices had an uncle who had a business in the Oaks, and his rent was jumping 4-5x higher - so he was closing.

I just looked up an article on it - and it seems they are spending 1.1 billion on the project. AND the curent owner bought the whole 1.1 million sq foot mall back in June of 2002 for a paltry 153 million! What a ROI, eh? Well... by that - thier 1.1 billion of investment is adding only 250,000 sq feet - with 144,000 going towards the new Nordstrum store.

It seems like a lot of money being cited as spent... however, a couple of years ago the near by WARNER center rennovated thier mall - expanding the size as well as building a large multi-story parking structure. This rennovation cost over 2 billion as I recall.

Again, both of these figures seem larger than what I might have thought it would cost.

At any rate, I could not find any supporting articles citing the Wodland hills rennovation cost.

SO... on another note - here I am in Tulare... we're trying a new Hampton Inn - it's only been open 5 days - and it is the ONLY Hilton property for 60 or so miles around... so since we like the Hilton point system - we thought we'd try it. Normally, we would have stayed at the mariott or Holiday inn resort in Visalia ... alas we didn't.

So I am about to up load some photos from the weekend. If I finish it - then I'll post some pictures ... however, it is geting late.

Hey Paula just saw your post after I posted. It's still June 30th here so guess your a day ahead of us. Congrats on cruising next month.

Time here now is 8.24pm on Tuesday evening, my clock tells me is 1.24am in LA, 10.25pm in Hawaii and they are still in Monday.

So I'm nearly a day ahead, lottery numbers will be in the next posting
