*8/15 Update: Our Intentions Were Good, But The Treats Were Better: One Month in Disney (4/21-5/21)

5/14 Efficient Touring at Hollywood Studios

When I was planning our Hollywood Studios day I was faced with a dilemma. I knew we would need to purchase LLMP if we wanted to ride everything but DH usually only rides one of the Lightning Lane rides, MMRR. It seemed like a waste of money to buy LLMP for him for one ride. So, we planned to rope drop Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway during early entry and then use LLMP for the three of us for all the rest.
Good idea on not buying LLMP for your DH.
We got up early and started our morning with pastries from Java with our breakfast vouchers. We shared 2 blueberry muffins.

AD_4nXdN3hnLcrJm8OIlqnlL5I8Fou2KW2-4zlrT6dk1B6kt3e5gdP11V3Bi7gu9AjtKzEQ9SU17_0-a-p_wD2az2hUfCP5IDVRP0Z5Z0OyAU9-OKwWjaKT-rRBkDREC_pIZeAJcLtWTYA

These were excellent, very fresh and full of blueberries.

We also shared a ham and egg croissant.

This was also pretty good for a quick service breakfast.
I love blueberry muffins and that one looks fantastic!
After our in room breakfast, we walked to Hollywood Studios. It is such a beautiful walk along the waterway.
It is a nice walk!
We arrived at 8:10 for 8:30 early entry and were allowed through the tapstiles right away. We went directly to MMRR to join the line. The line started moving at 8:20 and we were on the ride at 8:38.
I’m not a huge fan of this ride. I really miss the great movie ride. 😩 And parts of this ride really make me nauseous 🤢
Since it was still early entry time, we headed to Toy Story Mania, another ride that DH sometimes rides without too much motion sickness. We rode with minimal wait. This is DS-26’s favorite ride in Hollywood Studios. All three of them always outscore me.
Love TSM. I don’t even try to beat DH anymore. Haha
We headed next to Rock n Roller Coaster. My sons and I waited in the standby line for only 30 minutes.
Another favorite ride!! I’ll miss Aerosmith! I hope it’s just as good with Muppets.
Having already accomplished more than we expected, it was time for a snack and we had to share another one of our favorites with our sons. We headed to Trolley Car Cafe for the carrot cake whoopie pie.

AD_4nXfdYgIJqwUODdlf-eQedRMiVz0EpG1yeQE_UebtIYC9YJLqPX5FsEY1Z-E_QgS3919tGmCDPYIrtcb1n9GBaG9BrOWqRpBCC-tQZwxszX6CNAaHMuqRyNXMpK8Kr3_HX38TaOLLBQ

Our sons loved it as much as we do!
I haven’t had this snack since it was called the carrot cake cookie. I think I’ve mentioned that before. I’m not sure I’ll make it to HS this trip to try it again.
Refueled and ready to go we headed to Muppet Vision 3D for our final goodbye to the show. We’ve always enjoyed this show and were sad to have to say goodbye to it.
I am not sad about losing this show. I never really “got” it. I know I’m in the minority. I’m glad they’re keeping a Muppets theme somewhere else!
AD_4nXfpIxaHcRBBh1bYZHZ3ch_krTa3juMZlolzobKxsCOBqJ-fYCV1wNJcxmoxrh3kPq9evT91TUGZatsS8GbZ15Tru6O061Re-jUyQazt1zewjWSJZml8ksmclfttjLop9qPiCVXw6Q

After the show, it was finally time for our first lightning lane so the boys and I headed to the Tower of Terror. We waited 13 minutes to ride and had a really cool sequence with multiple short drops.
We both don’t really like ToT so haven’t ridden it since DS24 wanted to go on when he was 4.
We met back up with DH and headed for our sons’ favorite lunch in Hollywood Studios, Ronto Roasters. We ordered four Ronto Wraps: Roasted Pork, Grilled Pork Sausage, Peppercorn Sauce, and Tangy Slaw wrapped in Pita Bread.

AD_4nXfeIjGkJeEaGboyiEW2tRaSal1AUa4bl25dLzoKTPxtLYqdjdKoK8DZdxByEyTW5q4lX6L2pmERgolgEyBPNnhd73XdMP2d-jrc3G9R4eBinyGFXU2a0eOfPz3Inlddl6KnsyEd5w

These are always even better than I remember them to be. The pork sausage had great flavor, very reminiscent of the linguica sausage that we have in Southeastern Mass. The pita was freshly grilled and the slaw and roasted pork elevated the flavors. These were really good!
This is the second time I’ve heard how good these are recently. I’ve never had them. It does look just like linguica! What does the roasted pork look like. In the picture it looks like just the sausage and slaw.
One of the challenges of dining at Ronto Roasters is the very limited seating. We often end up standing and sharing a small shelf along the wall. This time though I asked the CM when I picked them up if we could sit at Docking Bay 7. She said “of course”. As we headed there, we found a great outdoor seating area between Ronto Roasters and Docking Bay 7. It was so nice to be able to enjoy our Ronto Wraps seated in a booth.
Yeah that’s what’s great about Disney you can eat at just about any QS restaurant. We’ve done something similar before.
After our delicious lunch, our sons said they wanted to get dessert in the big dinosaur so we headed to Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream. We each ordered a cup of soft serve twist.

AD_4nXfwmZh2TVF6PBUI7zp2Th-OHIu9twTOrWvKxuvQ2vr4aCgFcU1Cmeg73QQVhp42O3GpMzHRns6pEalrq5CLSkdAA7Snn-soZIWmar-mkyqDpE9LWPlexS8c3r8OSWy1SPYV4NB7zA

The CM that served us was an older gentleman who was super friendly and struck up a conversation with DS-28. The soft serve was excellent. It was rich and creamy and so much better than the soft serve we got in the waffle sundae at Marketplace Snacks in Disney Springs.
Ice cream is so good on a hot day or any day!!
At this point, I had a bunch of Lightning Lanes stacked up for the three of us. Since we were just going to be going from ride to ride, DH decided to take the skyliner over to Epcot. It was the first day of Passholder Appreciation Days and he wanted to pick up his Maleficent magnet and check out the passholder lounge in Marrakesh.
I’m sure your DH was happy to take a little field trip instead of sitting and waiting.
Ya know Disney needs to step up on these AP Days. If you’re gonna advertise a longe as something wonderful then make it that way.
While he was off enjoying Epcot, my sons and I used Lightning Lanes for Toy Story Mania, Smugglers Run, MMRR, and RNRC as well as an LLSP for Rise of the Resistance. We were about to use a final LL for Alien Swirling Saucers when DH returned from Epcot. He was happy that he got a Maleficent magnet but he said the passholder lounge was a waste of time. He said it was packed and he had to wait in a long line for lukewarm mint tea, a pin, and two bags of snacks.

AD_4nXcoEOGruPd-elhWULKpDdrZrBYebBf8s_6sT_iQf72gRFHeZhYU2SZVqSLkITAXoXKRyOSuDNrR3RAXvs3_4AH83RYZM9yIsBFnduxI2k9kC7U3VAZtXB5vpl--dyftiAe7qsGc

He said the mint tea and the trEAT4U nut free mix were gross. It was the first day so hopefully it improved but we never stopped by there again.
Mint tea and nut free snacks!!??? Really!??
Instead of riding Alien Swirling Saucers we opted to get pineapple coconut slushies from the Market.

AD_4nXeiiF1bbJB8GrzW6RUHZ5Fs70x0Amn-PJ7sKFJ4djkyjZMnqz_u4t8_ULMFS68Nl_jEFUxLK1gCK4zhOnzyFsp32mm9Y-RObVxs5FRl2J55LxVX2pm7dLHXfmDS43Cs4Buxtsyb3A

This really hit the spot on a hot day. We enjoyed our slushes as we explored Toystoryland and Batuu.
Slushes are a close second for ice cream. 😋
Overall it was a great day at Hollywood Studios. It was so much more fun for me to be able to enjoy all the rides with my sons and DH enjoyed his field trip to Epcot (with the exception of the passholder lounge). I had to do a lot of refreshing and checking the MDE app but I was able to get lightning lanes for every ride that we wanted to ride. As much as I dislike the LLMP system, it really is a necessity in Hollywood Studios if you want to ride everything.

We headed out of the park around 5:00 to head to Disney Springs for our dinner ADR.

Up next…dinner at another family favorite restaurant

Good idea on not buying LLMP for your DH.
It was definitely the right choice.
I love blueberry muffins and that one looks fantastic!
I do too and they were excellent all week from Java.
It is a nice walk!
We really enjoy it!
I’m not a huge fan of this ride. I really miss the great movie ride. 😩 And parts of this ride really make me nauseous 🤢
I'm surprised it doesn't bother DH too much. Just the water scenes bother him so he closes his eyes.
Love TSM. I don’t even try to beat DH anymore. Haha
I try but am always woefully deficient!
Another favorite ride!! I’ll miss Aerosmith! I hope it’s just as good with Muppets.
I love it too!
I haven’t had this snack since it was called the carrot cake cookie. I think I’ve mentioned that before. I’m not sure I’ll make it to HS this trip to try it again.
Do it!
I am not sad about losing this show. I never really “got” it. I know I’m in the minority. I’m glad they’re keeping a Muppets theme somewhere else!
It has grown on me, probably for nostalgia's sake.
We both don’t really like ToT so haven’t ridden it since DS24 wanted to go on when he was 4.
DS28 loves it and DS26 is not a fan. But this time he liked it better with the shorter drops.
This is the second time I’ve heard how good these are recently. I’ve never had them. It does look just like linguica! What does the roasted pork look like. In the picture it looks like just the sausage and slaw.
If you look at the third one from the left you can see the pork is a thin slice of pork, kinda like the thickness of canadian bacon.
Yeah that’s what’s great about Disney you can eat at just about any QS restaurant. We’ve done something similar before.
I'm so glad we found that seating!
Ice cream is so good on a hot day or any day!!
100%
I’m sure your DH was happy to take a little field trip instead of sitting and waiting.
I was glad he found something to do too. It would've been a lot of sitting and waiting.
Ya know Disney needs to step up on these AP Days. If you’re gonna advertise a longe as something wonderful then make it that way.
It was pretty mediocre.
Mint tea and nut free snacks!!??? Really!??
He wasn't impressed!
Slushes are a close second for ice cream. 😋
Truth especially in the Florida heat.

Another great update! You and your family had so many wonderful times, lots of great food too!

Another cute critter pic captured at just the right moment!

I got a kick out of your son waving to the riders, and then waving to the diners. 😆

The potato cheese soups looks delicious.
The one time I had the school bread, it didn’t have enough custard imo. I also expected the bread to be sweeter. That was ok, but the teeny bit of custard was not ok. 😆 But oh, that triple chocolate chip cookie! 😋

Oh, I’ve never seen the Hummels strike the clock tower. That was lucky!

Aww, so glad you got to share Guardians of the Galaxy with your sons, such a special memory being made.

We have never eaten at San Angel Inn, the food looks great!

I love Epcot at night. Beautiful pics, as always.

Oh, I agree, I do not like them saying, “Your loved ones die and leave you alone.”
I don’t want to hear that, especially in Epcot which holds special memories for me, being the first Disney theme park I ever visited with my parents. I was an adult, at the time, but I’d rather not hear that line. I doubt I will ever want to see that show. I’m glad you pointed that out. If I heard it in person, I may have ended up crying in the fountain. 🙁

Well, on a lighter note, I will never guess what tasty dish your new avatar picture is, so I guess we will have to wait to find out!

I look forward to each wonderful update! 😊

We definitely did!
Another cute critter pic captured at just the right moment!
It was very cute!

He's an adventure!
The potato cheese soups looks delicious.
It was, surprisingly so!
The one time I had the school bread, it didn’t have enough custard imo. I also expected the bread to be sweeter. That was ok, but the teeny bit of custard was not ok. 😆 But oh, that triple chocolate chip cookie! 😋
Teeny custard is definitely not okay!
Oh, I’ve never seen the Hummels strike the clock tower. That was lucky!
We had never seen it either.

It was an odd choice especially since you never know what people are going through. I'm sure it's meant to be uplifting but I can see how it could have the opposite effect.
Well, on a lighter note, I will never guess what tasty dish your new avatar picture is, so I guess we will have to wait to find out!
You won't have to wait long!
I look forward to each wonderful update! 😊
Aw, thank you!

5/14 continued…Dinner at Another Favorite of “the Boys”

We arrived early for our ADR at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ and checked in. We were seated very promptly with a beautiful view of the "springs".

I had suggested to DH that we share a fried chicken dinner but he was nervous there wouldn’t be enough to share so instead DH, DS-26, and I each got our own order of Art’s Famous Fried Chicken: "Buttermilk-brined for 24 hours then perfectly fried. Served with creamy mashed potatoes, a cheddar drop biscuit and love"

AD_4nXfsxe42xvVoEiFBvGYEqewGe6c8xNn8HDO2GU-PYGM47VYPzK3GNnh6Dud5zOyt9K_Zl0z2wLCGEvLzMknrIYKIj9YrolT1qyumTeIA16_84BrS7r19TkPj73IMUWJd2SXvDy0v-A

This was definitely big enough to share! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and fried, the mashed potatoes were very good and the cheddar biscuit was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. All three of us very much enjoyed our meals.

DS-28 ordered the Smothered Chicken: "Chef Art’s famous fried chicken thigh atop creamy mashed potatoes and sauteed broccolini, smothered in house-made onion gravy and topped with crispy bacon"

AD_4nXcO-9kBughr9ffqNNtmzkfU_uhIl1zOyUU7p4Yx3lYa9ocQGs2zFnLfYxJsOx0cL3yqsYv_HnU52OtsG7PVPw7aGfGyZSirwY-pn0jKL3cfFiKJw0OSV7qvlOxYOrofgPyXLsRMuQ

He really enjoyed his dish as well!

We also ordered two sides of Momma’s Mac and Cheese to share as well.

AD_4nXcnxzs9EQp45KnCLTNfEW1SvRGUPZr64NQK7T85XTd70PdCx24-IGVChK8bzELfAyfrhZP6k-Jpr6YaNVU32Uq-nRW9ft5gZgcGsdnJVl9LLf_GGEDR5Ucw-bvhTXU5BrU9YVi3Vg

We all loved this mac n cheese. It was very creamy and cheesy under a thick layer of baked cheese.

Needless to say we all ate until we were full and had quite a bit of food left over. It worked out well though as the next two days DS-28 would be working from our hotel room and would need something quick for lunch. We took the leftovers back to the hotel and he had more than enough for two more lunches.

Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ earned an A.

We definitely needed to walk off our dinner so we walked around Disney Springs for a bit. Then, DH and I drove back to the hotel. Our sons stayed behind to enjoy the nightlife at Disney Springs and eventually took a bus back to the Swan. It was really great that they could spend more time there and have free transportation back to the resort.

It was a record setting day for steps. I got 31,681 and DS-26 ended up with over 40,000!

Yet another great day with our sons!

Up next..DS-28 stays behind to work while the rest of us explore the Magic Kingdom.

Ok so I knew the avatar was Mac & cheese from somewhere. Art Smith’s is great!! This past trip we sat at the bar ( which we do often) and I wasn’t that hungry and just ordered that Mac & cheese. 😋
Needless to say we all ate until we were full and had quite a bit of food left over. Leftovers worked out great! What a good lunch for him since he had to work.

It is nice that that could stay and get a ride back. They must’ve enjoyed that. My boys would’ve done the same. 👍🏻
It was a record setting day for steps. I got 31,681 and DS-26 ended up with over 40,000!
Wow that’s a lot of miles. I’m not a fan of the steps I like converting them to miles. My Apple Watch shows miles in the fitness app.
Edit: That was about 13 miles!!!!
Yet another great day with our sons!
It was another great day! I too look forward to your updates (as you can see) 🤣
Up next..DS-28 stays behind to work while the rest of us explore the Magic Kingdom.

Oh boy, you could eat those Famous Fried Chicken offerings from Homecomiin’ right off the page! What a scrumptious combo! Momma’s Mac and cheese must have been yummy to earn avatar status!
I’m sure your son enjoyed those leftovers. 😋

I have an Apple Watch too and at the end of the trip added up the total miles. I was amazed at how many miles it was! I will post the final tally as part of my wrapup.

I love that you look forward to my updates!

It was yummy and it was time for a savory pictures!
I’m sure your son enjoyed those leftovers. 😋
He sure did and he even found a microwave to heat them up.

5/13 continued...Guarding the Galaxy
Back in 2022 we visited Epcot as a family and I was fortunate to get a passholder preview for Guardians of the Galaxy. Unfortunately I was the only passholder in the family so my sons couldn’t ride with me. They haven’t visited Epcot since so I was very excited to ride with them for the first time. I had purchased a LLSP and we didn’t have to wait too long before we were in the preshow area. When we were assigned our rows unfortunately the CM put me in the car behind them so we didn't get a picture together. We got the song September which is cool since that was my first song when I rode in 2022. They both loved the ride! It was so great to finally share it with them.

After guarding the galaxy, our sons decided it was time to take a mission to mars so we headed to Mission Space. They rode the orange side with a lightning lane while DH and I waited. From there we stopped by Club Cool and then headed to World Showcase to finish exploring the countries. We toured Canada, UK, France, Morocco and Japan.

Finally it was time for dinner. Back when I was making ADRs I had given them options of Space220, Biergarten, Via Napoli, Garden Grill, or San Angel Inn. Both of them picked San Angel Inn which we had dined at back in 2022. They love the theming and the food.

We were assigned to a great table right along the water overlooking the Gran Fiesta Tour attraction. DS-28 was having fun waving to every boat as it went by, to the utter embarrassment of his younger brother, as so often happens between the two of them.

We shared a couple of appetizers to start. First, the queso fundido: Melted Monterey Jack Cheese topped with Chorizo, Poblano Peppers and Onions served with Flour Tortillas

AD_4nXfWamcT0ZS51dHxu76INWc69lKDx_SfVMTv6izGg96RwPCSsNrpp1hkowTpJ7no3BoSyHLHJzBfML5H6jh67p_rl1RqLx6lyf58OvAAV84csn5XbcDwbtkNOETreECle3-8PAdUZQ

We all really enjoyed this dish of meaty, cheesy goodness which is served with flour tortillas.

We also shared the Totopos: Corn Chips with sides of White Cheddar Cheese and Salsa

AD_4nXfGfokl8dBa1FCbyfWpPZt_vqfPCXg9GeMGGCVvpEtSnvxFO3cF9fX6v8b0S6_6HsVxqyDop41P0oeNJ1-mmHiXUP83W7A_NnyUa3RX7Q1S6P8Xzxny49vnWNOKnH6C4D94Agblnw

The chips were freshly prepared and the two dips were excellent. We love the queso and salsa at San Angel Inn.

For our entrees, DS-28 ordered the Pollos a Las Rajas: Grilled chicken breast over roasted potatoes with onions, Poblano peppers, corn and a Poblano cream sauce, topped with queso fresco

AD_4nXeY06gsmv_A1MMgtVzVL2WkKI_cwYOk2DOpgE7LAxCLpjKhaVEKcZI6ezmpT5Y_iQ5l7wGPkFbcUlFdHVOFQ5nHDDR-td0XsiGNy2a8S3FUmLgYott6ZP7gnJwGO3miuu_EjLKVUg

He liked this dish but said it was nothing special.

DS-26 ordered the Enchiladas de Pollo: Corn tortillas filled with chipotle chicken covered with your choice of ranchera salsa or Mole Negro [contains nuts], crema Mexicana, cotija cheese and crispy onion straws atop beans. Served with plantains topped with crema Mexicana and cotija cheese.

As you can see from the description, he had a choice of ranchera salsa or Mole Negro. He told the server he would like it with Mole Negro. This greatly confused our server who told him it didn’t come that way. We explained that it was listed that way on the menu He then apologized and said it was a brand new menu and he hadn’t noticed that. He verified with the chef that it was possible to get the Mole Negro and placed his order.

AD_4nXd1n_db-Iz2NFjkHh2PeO4WRM3A9gCKxwByG7JHL4pjPsxMW7AP4_CSu6TDswGPuUSp1t0XKEHN_rfoLHLDKVYAknwo_CgyaKG5cbxdjSZJuMI0o5Inpr7u5vYZQrLJZrUQOdlFJA

DS-26 loved these enchiladas and said the mole negro sauce was excellent and worth the initial confusion.

DH and I shared Huarache Vegetariano: Fried corn masa topped with beans, grilled queso fresco, nopales and pea tendrils served with a side of roasted vegetables and salsa verde | Add Chicken or shaved Ribeye

We asked to add the shaved ribeye, since we loved their ribeye tacos last time we dined here. Our server told us that was a great choice, he loved the ribeye on the huarache.

AD_4nXdaLxmR9MYwxYTbvYZLDWuhPy748JaifDJmzslbZKqBGNs1N3PV9goYT5iRUp3oMJO8PSTUpxVfAGTe7efTQ1LJyVFZKR-u2g437bTVHruCAcsxpdBHI56QyyqeN1MCGjOF1thxhA

Sorry for the dark photo. What you probably can’t see from this photo is that our huarache actually came with added chicken, not ribeye. We didn’t mention it to the server since we like chicken too. I was a little disappointed not to get the ribeye though. Overall this huarache was good but not nearly as large or as flavorful as the one we had at the Maya Grill. It was a little small for sharing but we had plenty of food with the appetizers.

DS-26 was disappointed to learn that they no longer offer the Chocolate Pyramid for dessert and there wasn’t anything else that interested us.

Overall we enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere and felt the quality of the food was very good. The portions are a little small for the cost. Our server was not perfect but really gave it a lot of effort. We liked him a lot. We gave San Angel Inn a B.

After our meal we took a ride on the Gran Fiesta Tour. DS-28 waved to all the patrons now dining at the San Angel Inn and was pleased to get a few return waves (once again mortifying his brother).

We wanted to ride Living with Land at night so we headed there, stopping to admire the lighted walkways and the beautifully lit Spaceship Earth.

AD_4nXe_vi8XC17U3KJ0a6XY7pc3GW4MlTVfIEdVNDXGH8_oe-vFUc-qym66YFtfY8GKrEs4hxHEvuL0SrIF7g6KlNWv0BRPqk8cezc0U_x43oF8jiHiJPwbRhk-NiximBFI7rI0F5u2uw

So beautiful!

We exited Living with the Land and returned to the World Showcase to find a good viewing spot for Luminous. We had a beautiful view.

AD_4nXc4C-79vYvCv-cRRLbs-M4wARex5FF1ApjLVNvd5pBPHnCWse7rmNfgNcxbeA0ceQ__yk-yABz4VMgWfF0WAbYEvQpu3EdIZHjGTmKilaxa4PjLDttaaAPVPlHH59BHvWsUzSRadw

None of us had seen Luminous yet so we looked forward to experiencing it as a family for the first time. We actually didn’t really care for it. DH and I both thought the part about “your loved ones die and leave you alone” was a very odd choice for a theme park. While the message in the end that we all need to be there for one another is a wonderful sentiment, it felt out of place as a fireworks show. We all agreed that we preferred HarmoniUs (despite the big ugly barges).

After the show we then walked back to the Swan. It was so great to be within walking distance to Epcot. Our sons then spent some time enjoying the Boardwalk again while DH & I headed back to the room. Overall another great day!

Total Steps: 28202

Up next…Hollywood Studios Day
I agree - odd choice for the fireworks show. Reminds me of the time DH and I were in Maui (25 years ago) and the guitarist at the Grand Wailea bar started playing Tears in Heaven.

5/15 Magic Kingdom for Three

Originally when we planned our trip, DS-28 only had 3 vacation days and had booked a return flight for 5/14. However, his job is fully remote and it occurred to me a few weeks before the trip that he could do his remote job from the hotel. I proposed the idea to him and he loved it. So, he changed his flight to go back on Sunday with his brother. I was so happy he agreed as this still gave us the opportunity to spend Thursday and Friday nights with him as well as the weekend. It turned his 5 day vacation into a 9 day one (minus the work hours of Thursday and Friday).

After making sure DS-28 had everything he needed for his work day, DS-26, DH and I walked over to the Boardwalk to take the bus to Magic Kingdom. With early entry starting at 8:30, we made it through the tapstiles by 8:14 and DS and I were in line for Space Mountain by 8:20. The line started moving at 8:25 and we were on the ride by 8:38. I typically skip Space Mt and DS-26 rides with his brother as, in the past, I have found the rockets hard to get in and out of and the ride to be very jerky. However, since DS-28 wasn’t with us, I rode with DS-26. I was once again pleasantly surprised at how much easier I could get in and out of the rocket than in the past. I also found the ride much more enjoyable. Another win!

By the time we finished exploring space, it was almost regular park opening time so we headed to the Haunted Mansion. The line opened at 8:55 and the ride was a walk on. I had actually also purchased LLMP for the three of us and my first LL was for Haunted Mansion so we used that next and rode twice in a row.

It was now time for that treat that we had nicely tested for DS-26, the Gaston Cinnamon Roll. Since one was too little to share for the 3 of us, we had to share two!

This is our favorite cinnamon roll on Disney property. The dough is soft and full of cinnamon sugar and the icing gives it added sweetness. Gaston’s cinnamon roll gets an A every time so far.

After our treat it was time for DS and I to ride Tron so we made our way to Tomorrowland. Such a fun ride but so short!

From there we used a LL to ride Buzz for one last time before the lengthy refurb. I’m looking forward to the updates for this ride.

After fighting Zurg we thought we had time to squeeze in a ride on the People Mover before our LL for Tiana and our lunch ADR. That was almost a mistake. We rode the people mover and then speedwalked all the way to Tiana. We rode Tiana, which was DS-26’s first time. He enjoyed it. As soon as we got off we had 10 minutes to get to Tony’s for our lunch ADR so we speedwalked back to Main Street. This is the layer of stress that the Lightning Lane system adds to the day that I dislike. It really takes out the spontaneity and requires a lot of paying attention to schedules. It really is not good for my anxiety level. Thankfully we made it just in time to check in. We requested a seat on the porch and were told that no servers were assigned there but if one was willing to take our table they would seat us there.

Thankfully Vicky, coincidentally the server DH and I had in December, agreed to take the table. She’s awesome!

We started by sharing two appetizers. First, the Fried Mozzarella: with Spicy Creamy Tomato Sauce

AD_4nXcP7k5Iqe94ozrh_6ST637Avz8kj6y5_3d_iYH0P90DMkdVqr6JheNK6YWDs-dYKJeP3vAoue1PCiDZct2irOMvTV2Gi9M3jzgE8isLgrg4kpQqsqpqp5giyxTNq6iSZhwu1DoB

These were huge and very good.

We also shared Tony’s Garlic Bread for the Table: Toasted Ciabatta with Roasted Garlic-Butter and Parmesan Fonduta

We like to ration the delicious cheese sauce and pour a little on each layer. This is the first pouring. This bread is so delicious! It is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, garlicky and cheesy. This alone is a reason to eat a Tony’s!

As we received our appetizers, a different server came by our table and pointed to the garlic bread and said “That’s where it’s at. That’s better than the mozzarella sticks.” He said he’d come back later for our opinion. He did and he was right!!!

DH and I considered trying something new on the menu but ultimately went for our favorite and shared the Chicken Parmigiana but subbed in fettuccine alfredo for spaghetti: Lightly-breaded Chicken Breast baked in Tony's Marinara Sauce and Mozzarella served with Spaghetti

DS-26 followed our lead and got his own Chicken Parm with Fettuccine Alfredo. This was his first time dining at Tony’s as an adult and he was impressed. In fact he said this alfredo was even better than Toothsome’s.

We really enjoy eating at Tony’s especially when we’re lucky enough to dine on the porch. Our server Vicky was excellent once again. Tony’s earned an A- and we gave her a cast member compliment.

We headed next to Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. DS-26 also hadn’t experienced this as an adult either. I was trying to get him to sit in an aisle seat so he might be featured but he caught on to me and wouldn’t sit there. Haha.

After the show, which was enjoyable as always, we headed over to the Carousel of Progress. If you recall, back on April 27th when DH and I were in CoP, we ended up seeing the 40’s scene twice and wondered how that happened. Well, this time we had a first-hand look at exactly how that can happen.

We were waiting in line outside as the theater emptied and the building was about to rotate when a woman who just exited started to run back through the open exit door. A CM told the woman “m’am you can’t go back in there. The building is about to move.” The woman continued going in the exit explaining, “I left my hat in there.” The CM told her to stop and that they would look for her hat as she motioned to another CM to do an emergency stop of the building. Once the theater was stopped, the CM and woman went in to look for the hat, which they were unable to find. As they were coming back out of the building the man ahead of us in line pointed over to the woman’s husband, who was seated in a scooter with a hat placed on the back of his seat and said to us “do you think that might be the missing hat?” Then he said the same thing to the cast member and lo and behold it was the missing hat. The woman went back over to the scooter and yelled at her husband. The man ahead of us was wearing a honeymoon pin and my DH said to him, “See that’s how it goes, it’s always the husband’s fault. You might as well get used to it.” Haha! After no one got hurt we all had a good chuckle about it but thankfully the Cast Members were well trained or that woman could’ve gotten seriously hurt over a $5 bucket hat.

After all that excitement we finally entered the theater and had an uneventful viewing of the Carousel of Progress. From there we took the train from Fantasyland to Frontierland and then used a LL for pirates. We went to the Country Bear Jamboree and DS agreed with us that the new show was surprisingly well done. Making sure to do the complete route of the train, we hopped back on the train in Frontierland and headed to Fantasyland. We didn’t have a LL for It’s a Small World yet but there was only a ten minute wait. We all enjoy IASW. At this point it was time for a snack so we ordered the Apple Cider Doughnuts (Sugar-dusted and served with Caramel Sauce) from The Friar’s Nook.

These are served warm and they smell and taste delicious. We gave them a B+. A simple yet tasty snack. It was hot so we also each ordered a Strawberry Lemonade Slush.

This was very refreshing but a little too tart for my tastes. We gave it a B-.

I had purchased LLSP for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for DS and I so we rode that next. I love the scenes on this coaster and wish DH could ride it just to see those parts but we think the swaying mine carts will bother his motion sickness.

We waited in the standby line for Under the Sea for eight minutes, our shortest wait this trip, I think. Then we walked over to Liberty Square as DS wanted a “goodbye ride” on the Liberty Belle Riverboat. I took some photos from the Liberty Belle for nostalgia’s sake.

We’re very sad to see Rivers of America gone but excited to see what the new area will look like.

We had a LL for Winnie the Pooh but it was down so we rested for a bit with ice water at Pinocchio Village Haus and then used a LL for Peter Pan followed by a LL for another ride on It’s a Small World. We tried to ride Pooh with our LL but it was still down. DS-28 had contacted us saying he was done with work for the day. We instructed him to take a bus from the Swan resort to the TTC and we headed on the monorail to meet him there.

Overall we had a great day using LLMP for 6 attractions, LLSP for 2 attractions, and standby for 11 attractions. With the exception of Winnie the Pooh, we did everything we wanted to do and even had a great table service lunch and snacks.

Up next…introducing our sons to one of our favorite dinner spots.

Loved your Trip Report. Thanks for your work in reporting it. Enjoyed all your adventures and it sounded like your family was thoroughly enjoying your trip.

PS: Glad he didn't go on 7 Dwarfs. That swinging seat area made me SO sick 2 times trying it. Never, ever again. I can do up and down but not side by side.

Thanks! We did thoroughly enjoy our trip. Oh I'm sorry to hear 7 Dwarfs made you sick but that does confirm our suspicion that he wouldn't do well on it. He is so sensitive to motion that he has to be very careful or his day is ruined.
