Welcome to the Weekend

Saw tonight that two more airlines (United & USAir) are now charging for the first bag. And USAir I think is now going to charge $2.00 for soda & juice!! So let's see.... have to pay the airfare.... extra charge to use curbside check-in....$15 for the first bag... $25 for the next.... better not be over 50 lbs or that's another $50.... have to pay extra for a window or aisle seat (Spirit calls it a "seat fee" or something like that).... $2.00 for a soda.... $7.00 for a "snack".... what's next??? How 'bout $5.00 to use the bathroom?? The cost of the flight is going to end up costing more than this cruise!! :lmao:

Love the picuture , Hate the airlines :rotfl: :rotfl:

Driving down is looking better and better

Thats what I thought. Bearing in mind this is from one side of the country to another - I was expecting to find the cost to be $400-$500 with all the fuel increases! I just held the seats and with negotiate with DH tonight. I feel the need for a Disney fix. Believe it or not, it will be cheaper for us to fly to FL than to drive down to DL because we don't have to pay for accommodation in FL. Wish me luck!

Kay - that is better than anything I have found from Pittsburgh to So. California (trying all airports) for our cruise this August. I was able to secure $260 but they went up the next day to $440. Now the lowest available is $380. So I say book it!!!

Harry - that is a great picture. And yes I hate the airlines too. We booked United for our trip out west this summer and I was so thrilled with the $260 per person airfare. Now we have to add in the first bag fee and I know we will have one extra bag due to cruise dress clothes (oh please let it be only one extra bag). So All of a sudden our cheapo fare is creeping up. Truly I love Southwest more and more every day. But their fares for the timeframe I am going are out of control too.

Hi Kristin! Leaving soon for WDW, eh?! And Vero too, right?

I made ressies today for Easter 2009 at HHI. It coincides with school vacations.

I was trying to convince DH to go to HHI next June for a week, it's only an 7-8 hour drive, but I'm not sure if I have convinced him yet. I'm trying to put alot of info together to "plead my case". :rotfl2:

That is too funny Harry!!!

Hi, everyone! It's been a while since I've posted ... This thread moves at lightning speed!

I feel for everyone having to deal with the airline price increases - We live near Tampa, so we are blessed just to have to drive to WDW/DCL, but when we decide to visit DL again, I know it's gonna hurt! The cost of the cruise alone is enough to have to budget for, but the airfare would just be too much!

We just cruised last month with our kids on a 3 Night, but DCL keeps throwing those FL Resident deals out there and DH and I bit for another 3 Night next week! When I compare what a hotel stay, meals, and entertainment for 3 nights would cost to what this cruise is costing us, there's no second guessing. Cruising is the way to go.

We did get our ressie transferred to Carol - jd99, We booked onboard with DCL for the discount and the OBC's, but then transferred to DU b/c we had used them on our previous cruises. Once I posted to this thread, I learned about the group amenities Carol was offering, in addition to matching DU's OBC's. It took about a week, but I was able to ask DU to release our ressie back to DCL. Once that was done, I let Carol know and she was able to transfer it to her. So there is hope! The rep at DU was very understanding about us wanting our ressie to be released to DCL. It's worth a try!

I wish all you fathers out there a great Father's Day for all you do - If you're a Disney Dad, your kids are twice blessed!

Later,
Rose :)
