Hi Karen!!! its good to hear from you!!! and congrats on getting your flights booked!!! im not flying to the cruise in 2009, instead im driving LOL. a day in half drive LOL

We've done that drive in the past (though we are flying this time).... going down isn't so bad - I HATE the drive back though!

We did the Autotrain last time to Fl, drove back home.

Proberly drive again, but may take longer than day and 1/2. I don't like driving more than eight hrs a day if I can advoid it. Might do 12 if we start real early Its about 21 1/2 hrs from Ct to WDW

Ed - how did you like the Autotrain? We did it a few years back and the kids had no problem with it. I, on the other hand, wasn't thrilled with it.

I must say all of you who drive are brave. We are not BIG fans of long car rides. I hate even driving up to my brother's house which is an hour and a half or so away. The kids hate the car ride as much as we do. Your all much braver than we are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ed - how did you like the Autotrain? We did it a few years back and the kids had no problem with it. I, on the other hand, wasn't thrilled with it.

We have done the autotrain three times always on way down, but not back.

We have done the family bedroom twice and once we book two bedrooms together and had the center divider removed.

as they used to say, there is something about a train and it's magic.

Other than sleeping (not comfortable ) it was fine. I love going to sleep and waking up in Fl, but I think next time we will either drive Or maybe fly. We haven't flown since 1997

We are the same way. My parents houses are about 1 1/2 hours and that's enough for me. We did drive to Chicago one year and Gatlinburg another year, which were both OK trips, but they were plenty long enough for me.

Yeah, we went to a beer/wings place. We were there about 2 1/2 hours. Most of my co-workers ended up not showing up because of the weather. We live literally right down the road from the place, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gone either. The band was very good, and I look forward to listening to them again! I had quite a few drinks, so I'm ready to crash. Pathetic considering it's not even 10pm.

For our drive home, we normally bypass most of I 95.

The first day we will do I 95 in Fl to Ga and part of Sc.
Then pick up I26 to I 77 to I 81 then either i 84 & rt 7, or i 287 to the merrit parkway to home.

Much more scenic and not as rushed as all I 95.

When doing autotrain we would start a day earlier, drive about 5 hrs to Mechinicsburg or chamsberburg Pa. The next day drive about 3 hrs to Lorton Va, Picking up rt 15 in Pa to I66 to rt 7100 to rt 123 into Lorton That way we get ease into our vacation,

Board train around 2:30 pm, It leaves Lorton around 4pm and arrive next morning around 9 am in Sanford Fl. Each time down we arrived either on time or early, but I have heard of people arriving very late too.

We drove down after 9/11... DW hates to fly as it is and I watched the whole thing from our company's windows - I was still a bit spooked to fly at that time.

We drive to Hilton Head usually. It's still a long drive, but I'm used to it. I have a lot of long drives under my belt over the years.

Florida is a must-fly though.

In the past it most of the time we fly out of Newark Nj.
But that was back in the 90's havent flown since.

We would hire a limo to take us to the airport.

Big weekend for Tim.... tonight he earned his orange belt in karate... very proud moment during his promotion (Jake earned another stripe towards that belt as well).... and he has a HUGE swim meet this weekend. Should be very exciting!

Maybe in April when I'm at class for a two days, will be down in Mclean Va in middle of April.

While driving in our winter wonderland today, I tuned my satellite radio to Orlando's weather and traffic.... silly as it seems it was nice to hear that it was 84 degrees there.... (take me to a happy place!)... oh, there was an accident near I-4 and Seaworld causing some issues as well....
