We had a great time! We stayed at CBR for the first and the last time. We were only there Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We will most likely refer to this trip as the love bug tour, because the critters were everywhere. Wednesday was the worst of them, but they were out in force through the trip, which was just icky. We flew home this afternoon.

We went to MGM right after we checked into the resort. We were there by 12pm. We spent a lot of time pin trading and riding RnR & ToT...multiple times. Our longest wait was late in the day for RnR and it was only 20 minutes. We met the infamous CM TJ, who has appeared on at least one of the Travel Channel WDW promo shows as a super creepy CM at ToT. I was so excited that I was able to meet him. I got a picture with him. We shopped and had a good time. I even found a plush and squeeking Wheezy the penguin! He's my favorite pengie. We saw the Cars and Mulch, Sweat & Shears. My favorite memory of the trip will forever be the look on the face of the Evil Queen when Gabby hugged her! OMG, it was priceless. The Queen was not amused and was perfectly indignant! We had dinner at Old Port Royal, which was pretty good. We were exhausted. Since we had gotten up at 4am in order to be at the airport in time for our 8am flight, we were both pooped. The blister curse struck again. I had a nasty one on the ring toe of my left foot. My heels were also bruised from the gel insoles that I had in my shoes.

Thursday, we overslept. I had a really detailed itinerary planned for AK, but Gabby was so exhausted that there was just no waking her up. When she did wake up, she wanted to put off AK until Friday, but when she realized that we would miss going to Kona Cafe on Friday morning, if we didn't get up and go, she decided that we should make the effort and go onto AK. Gabby was a saint and rented an ECV for me to use at AK for the day. We had a great time! We rode EE, which is our new favorite ride, 3 times. The longest wait was maybe 10 minutes. We rode KS, which was delayed due to an animal in the road. We sat in a shady spot for about 15 minutes, waiting for the critter to move along out to the path of the vehicle that was somewhere up ahead of us. We could see Hippos in the water, which was neat, but not exciting enough to entertain us for 15 minutes. But, we made it through ok. We saw the Tropicals, which is a really great Carribean steel drum group, a couple of times. While the day was certainly not what I had planned, it was still really a great day. We decided that we would cancel our dinner at Shutters, since it just was not what we were looking for in a TS location. We decided to go out to FW and dine at the Trail's End buffet. It was just perfect! The best bang for your buck dinner buffet on property. We had our fill of fried chicken, soup, some great veggies and a really good apple crisp. We returned to the room by way of a ferry ride over to CR and another ferry to MK and then a bus ride back to CBR. When we finally returned to the room, we found a surprize that I never would have expected. We had a personalized anniversary card waiting on the table of our room that included a picture and well wishes signed by Mickey and Minnie! It even had balloons! We were both shocked and pleasantly surprised. After a quick shower to freshen up after a long day of park touring and resort hopping, I discovered that I had a new nasty blister on my right pinky toe. We went swimming and it was so relaxing. There is nothing better than a relaxing swim after long days on blistered feet. After we came back to the room, we both had the munchies, so Gabby went and picked us up an after swim snack. We were off in dreamland shortly afterwards.

Friday started with a trip to the Poly for breakfast at Kona Cafe. I found a special Stitch plush for Gabby. He's on a motorcycle! She was so surprised. We asked if Beverly was available to be our server. We remembered that she was great back in December. Oddly enough, she remembered us too....right down to the table that we sat at. After a wonderful meal and talking with her manager about what an awesome job that she does, we headed out to DTD. Gabby again was a saint and got me a wheelchair. We shopped lots, got a Mr. Potato Head with lots of nifty parts, including a Stitch surfboard! I found the most awesome sandals! I could walk! Imagine that! Just in time for MNSSHP! There was a glimmer of hope that I might actually get to enjoy the party, up until that point, I doubted my ability to go to the party without being a real downer.

For MNSSHP, Gabby and I were dressed in shorts, stripped witch hats and stripped witch stockings, we had on t-shirts that I bought on eBay. My shirt said "Black Hat Society" and Gabby's said "Witches Gone Wild, Beware the witching hour!" We are both are pooh-sized and the sight of the two of us walking along with our bags was enough to make lots of folks giggle. We had a blast! My inner toddler was having a wonderful time. We brought some stuff to hand out to the CM's and other guests...nothing fancy, but you would be amazed how sweet and excited kids and adults can be when they get a "gold pirate coin" or a Tootsie Roll magnet.

We arrived shortly after 4pm. We arrived just a few minutes too late to see Captain Jack. So, we went to ride PotC. Well, it was a complete walk on, but had technical difficulties. We started handing out pirate coins to the kids waiting in line, their parents were all thrilled with that. The ride was delayed about 10 minutes and even though we were behind only one family, we decided to come back later, stepped out of line and suddenly, it was back up and running! So, we rode it, but got stuck in the scene where the pirates sing "Yo Ho, Yo Ho", so that song go really old, really quick. We must have been there about 10 minutes. When we exited, we went off to HM where I encountered a super creepy CM named Alex. When I say super creepy, I mean in a really good way. CM's at HM are supposed to be part of the show and he was the best part for me! We rode IaSW and saw Philharmagic, both of which were walk ons. Most of the rides were 5 minute waits or total walk ons. There were lots of candy station lines, we only visited one and there was plenty of candy given out before and during the parade over in Frontierland. Gabby wanted a picture of the headless horseman, but missed the shot and the horseman, so we had to work in a sighting for her during the second parade. We had an ADR at the Plaza, but cancelled. We ended up at our traditional spot, Pecos Bills' Cafe.

Ooohhhh, the parade, it was so good! We loved it and we are so not parade people. This is now our favorite WDW parade! Conversely, we are total fireworks nuts, and didn't really care for the HalloWishes show. The fireworks were pretty, but the show lacked emotion. We both prefer regular Wishes and the holiday Wishes that we saw at MVMCP last year to this show.

We rode BTMRR twice and Splash once, we got soaked on Splash....not good when the humidity is already so icky that sweat is rolling down your back underneath your t-shirt......ewwwww!!!! We saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarves over in Fantasyland and checked out Stitch's Dance Party at Cosmic Rays.

We did pick up the limited edition pin for the evening, the limited edition jumbo pin, and the pin from last Friday's party, which they still had plenty of even at the end of the night. We drooled over the limited edition watch, but the $380 price tag was a bit much for us, even if there are only 30 of them. lol

We got enough candy for us and then some. We saw lots of characters, but didn't really worry about snagging photos with them. We got several photopass pics taken. I still need to review them.

Overall, it was a good night. We had a good time. Neither of us feel the need to do it again though. Which is odd, since we absolutely loved MVMCP and would do it every year, if given the chance. For us, MNSSHP was a fun night, I am glad that we did it, but now it's more of a been there, done that, sort of a thing. Maybe we both need a little more scary in our Halloween parties? After seeing the ads on tv for the Universal parties, Gabby wants to possibly try that out next year. Oddly enough, I agree and it's so odd that I am willing to step out on the Mouse. I have never been to Universal, but their party looks too wicked awesome!

We used DME for our trip and it was very efficient and if I ever could bring myself to fly again, I would use it without a doubt. We have figured out that we are 6 to 8 day park tourist. We like to have off days. This was a great trip, but it was also a very busy trip. We are both pooped, but glad to have had the pixie dust!

That's my story and I am sticking to it! Maggie

Maggie!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like you had a blast!

SO sorry about your blisters!

We just got back a couple weeks ago! My feet where in lime green CROCS and covered in Body Glide except for one day I wore flip-flops to Epcot! EEEK! My feet were so sore after that! I still have scabs!

I wished we could have stayed one more day for MNSSHP because you make it sound so fun. FREE candy! Yay! Your costumes sound cute!

Thanks for Sharing!!!!

thanks for your great report. Sounds like you did it all and had a great time doing it. We haven't done the halloween party yet but have done the Christmas Party. We are going again and doing it again soon. Thanks again for scoping out the party.

Sounds like you had a great time! Except for the blisters. And happy anniversary! Somehow I missed that the trip was for a special occasion!

We loved EE in August. DS rode 3 times in one day. Definitely a favorite with our family!

So what's the deal with CBR? Was there anything in particular you didn't care for, or just not your favorite resort? We have never stayed in a Mod because the extra $ doesn't really seem to give you that much more. We like to stay Value for short trips and Deluxe for long ones.

We met the Evil Queen at MGM but it didn't occur to DS to try to hug her. That's hilarious! :rotfl:

Glad you were able to enjoy MNSSHP! We liked it last year, but it isn't something I would purposely plan to attend again. The new MGM party hosted by my soulmate Jack Skellington could prove to be another story. We'll see how that shapes up as the time approaches next year.

First, I have to say that I never looked at CBR as a place that I wanted to stay at, but when the code came out, CBR was the only moderate left that had a king room available for booking by the time that we made the decision to go. CBR was nice enough. It was HUGE, but being that there is a 45 acre lake in the middle of it, the place would have to be pretty big. The internal shuttle bus was nice, but it still was a lot of walking. We had it noted that there were mobility issues on the reservation, because I was going to rent a scooter for the length of our stay and would need a ground floor room, but we cancelled the scooter rental at the last minute and attempted to avoid the blister curse this time. Next time, I swear, I am renting a scooter or else we are not going, but I digress..... Even with the note on the reservation, they put us in a room that was as far away from the shuttle bus as possible without being on the back side of the building. Literally, we were at the furthest point away from either the Jamaica stop or the Aruba stop for a room facing the parking lot. So, we walked... I do believe that we were also at the furthest point away from the pool.

We were in Aruba in 5305 and it was a non-smoking, ground floor king room. The room faced the parking lot and across from us was a building in the Jamaica section. We had a nice room, but the whole Carribean thing has never been that appealing to me. The grounds around the resort were beautiful. The quiet pool in our section was nice enough. To me, it was just your basic moderate. It was not worth more money than staying at POP. The bus service was equally as good/bad. There were more little kids at CBR than at ASMu or at CSR when we have stayed either of these resorts in the past. It was just not the experience that I was hoping to find, but more the experience that I sort of expected to find. It was not as nice as CSR. The CS, TS, and in room dining options were not as diverse as what CSR has. While I also felt that CSR was a bit too big also, I felt that it was a better resort overall. I still want to stay at POR, at least once, because it's what I think it's just too cute. The rooms look cozy and it's not quite so large.

Ultimately, I would love to try AKL. I think that I could totally fall in love with that resort. But, that will be sometime way down the line. Maggie

You have pretty much confirmed what I already suspected. That the moderate resorts are really, really big and spread out and NOT that much better/different than staying at Pop. Especially since we have never been to the pool at ANY of the resorts and the vast majority of our meals are in the parks or at monorail resorts.

We really enjoyed AKL! We had a standard room with a AAA rate and they upgraded us to pool view. Since it was Value season it wasn't prohibitively expensive. Ordinarily I don't like pool view because it is loud, but we were on the 5th floor and the ceiling fan helped mask the noise so it wasn't bad. It was bad when we opened the balcony door. We would absolutely go back to AKL with an AP or AAA rate. We're waiting for DH to bid for vacation, then we can book for '07. The wait makes me absolutely crazy. Like having bugs crawling on me and not being able to brush them off! The guys don't bid until the Monday after Thanksgiving, so I am in a holding pattern of "maybe this, what if that" until after the bids.
