7pm closings

During our next trip MK is scheduled to close at 7pm on the 1st, 4th and 7th of September. Since they released MNSSHP dates and the 7pm closing is not for a party night does any one know, or can even speculate upon, why the early closing?

On another thread someone said it was for a private event.

I seriously doubt all 3 days are for a private event. Last year they DID have a party on that weekend. My guess is they blocked it thinking their might be parties that early, then they decided against it. Disney puts out a schedule 6 months in advance, but then changes it a bunch. My guess is you will see these change as well. No way the park closes that early over Labor Day without a hard ticket event.

I *thought* I had read something to that effect alright. A party would be fine with us, I don't mind buying extra tickets (well, I DO mind but if its our only way to access MK during our first onsite stay then I'll pay it!) I just wish they would at least let us know. I'm making our ADRs for the first part of our stay off site and it would just make things so much easier if I could get an idea of how the onsite portion is going to go. Night of Joy is the 11th and 12th.

Being that all those dates are before or on Labor Day...looks like a private event.

Early closings are not uncommon in the dead months... But not prior to a holiday

I agree with skier_pete - I think they just changed their mind about having parties on those dates; private events are pretty rare and I seriously doubt they'd have 3 of them in a week.

I agree as well. The fact that they currently have MK closing at 7pm on the Friday and Monday of Labor Day weekend, tells me that they were originally thinking about having MNSSHP those dates and then changed their minds.

Like others, I'm seriously hoping that they decide to add extra dates or have some sort of Labor Day party.

I, like many others, planned our trip hoping to go to MNSSHP for the first time ever. So I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I'm pretty sure they'll end up adding hours to MK to make open until 10pm, or maybe even midnight since it's a bank holiday weekend.

Time will tell I guess!

Nah...they just couldn't get the bakery to cook enough cupcakes for the villians dessert party - I bet

Since I won't pay their highway robbery hard ticket prices - I am pretty happy if they don't have a Halloween Party on Sept 1st and 4th. I'm leaving on the 7th, so by all means close early.

I think they just copied the basic hours from last year, Labor Day was earlier and they did start the parties very early. Would love to go to one, but we are there in early Sept. and it's just to darn hot to think about Halloween!

I think it's too early, but I would go one night if we could. Either way no biggie for us.

Labor day weekend brings in a lot of people, it just doesnt make sense to NOT have a party, atleast on the 8th. Its a whole week later than last year.

Since the Disney Parks Blog states that the party is starting on September 15th, I would assume that's the correct date:

although it seems odd that the park would close at 7pm on a holiday, the magic kingdom restaurants currently won't let you book anything past 7pm on Monday, Sept 7th
