7DMT Rope Drop Question

I was at MK a few months ago prior to park opening and was deciding what the best plan was to get to 7DMT. It was my first time experiencing the new opening procedure, and I noticed a line forming on the right side of the hub (and assumed it was for 7DMT). I could have gotten in line and been one of the first to 7DMT but instead decided not to...I don't know why. Was going to try to cut through Liberty Square walkway past castle and then up through Fantasyland but probably would have ended up way far back. At the last second (literally as they were counting down), I booked it to the right side and ended up getting on 7DMT with basically no wait.

Just curious...is there a better way to get to 7DMT other than getting in the line, without ending up behind everyone? Obviously its smartest to just get in the line but I was just wondering.

No, the line is your best bet, otherwise you'll be stuck behind everyone in that line. The only caveat to that is if you want to make a PRO ADR at BOG for breakfast. 99% of the time that'll let you ride 7DMT a little before official park opening.

There’s a Robo map for that!

You picked wisely...if you had gone through Liberty square path it would have put you in good position for Peter Pan but not 7DMT. If you wait for the path through the castle to open after the show, you are waiting a while and will be far back in the queue once you finally arrive. As PP mentioned, the line is fastest unless you book a BOG PPO breakfast (which is way too overpriced for me).

Just after the fireworks is the best time for 7D with the shortest possible wait.

We’ve done this several times and generally wait about 10 minutes or so.

Our longest wait using this strategy was 20 minutes, and that was during opening week in 2014.

Just keep in mind that the posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders. Those 10 minute waits usually came with a 50-80 minute posted wait.
