Just found a great airline discount of $749 a person for a room with a balcony. The rate is available on any 7 night cruise in May.

My question is will I miss out on anything by booking so late - will all the good excursions be booked?

Also, is the weather good in May?

Let me know where this is as well. Might even book a back to back for the cruise I already have. This is a tremendous price just for the balcony cabin, let alone airfare. - Mike

I'm an airline employee and we jumped on this. We had already booked a category 8 and were hoping to see the interline discounts come through. Our cruise is May 22 so we were getting very close to cut off time. We checked everyday. Finally, on the 15th the rates came through. We got on the phone with Disney and asked for it and ended up with a category 5 for $749 each. I then called my travel agent and cancelled my previous reservation. So, we upgraded three cabin classes and cut our price in half.
Working for an airline these days is challeging, but I tell you what, there are definitely some perks buried in the constant worries. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Oh, and it's not an airfare rate. You have to be a travel industry employee, like an airline. Sorry everyone.

I'm glad you were able to get a deal like this. You deserve all the perks you can get working for the airlines. - Mike

I wouldn't worryabout the excursions being booked - it is so easy to book your own. First look at shoretrips.com. I used them and everything went great. Are you doing the Eastern or the Western. Ask in a new thread about booking your own excursions. I am sure that you will get plenty of advice. Have fun!

We love going in May gets us a head start on Summer:D

Book it, book it, book it!!!

It is hard to come by a $749 rate for a cat. 11!!!

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but can't excursions only be booked 60 days out??? If so, depending on when the exact date is, you will have as much chance as anyone else. Even if it is within the 60 days, you still stand a good chance of getting whatever excursion you want & like someone else said, you can always save money by booking them independantly of DCL!!

I say go for it & have a GREAT time!!

Hi...do you know if Airline employee's family members also get that interline discount? My fiance's father works for an airline and I would love to use that discount.

Hey Chicagodisneyfan!- Who did you go through?I work for United and that is a good deal!!

Unfortunately, on the DCL, only the airline employee gets the discount. Other carriers extend it to family (up to a certain number of rooms) if the employee is traveling with them. DCL had done this in the past but changed that policy early last year.

Nysie,
Call Disney directly. You will have to fax them something from HR stating that you are an employee in good standing, but calling Disney directly gets you the discounts. Just mention you want an Interline rate.
I used to use the Interline travel agencies, but I found it much easier to call Disney directly, both for cruise and stays on property. Interline agencies state that a three day stay is required for hotel reservations. Calling Disney directly lets you stay for as little as one night. We are staying at Pop Century the night before our cruise. I called Disney and got the room for half price.
As I said, you have to fax proof of employment (as well as show your ID upon checkin). Amazingly, they just started asking for the fax. We've been about 10 times in the last three years and this was the first time they asked for the fax.

What a great deal, so glad you can use it. May should be wonderful. Enjoy :sunny: !

I wonder if they will accept a copy of my id badge. I am on a voluntary furlough, so that a junior flying partner could keep their job. We are also going in July, so they might not have the employee rate at that time! I'll check it out! Thanks!!:wave2:

I get some interline email specials, but don't think anything has come through for the spring (was looking for a 3 or 4 day rate in May). I called DCL once to ask about interline, but they told me I had t go through an agency. Looks like they changed their policy. WIll try to call & ask again.

I used to use the agencies on the company web sites but I got tired of them placing so many restrictions on me. That's when I decided to call Disney directly. Its just like asking for any discount code.
And no, ID badges aren't enough anymore. They require the fax letter verifying employment. No idea how furloughed employees are treated. If you can eget the letter and have an ID, you should be good. As I had prebiously mentioned, I never needed the letter before but, about a month after I had already booked my Pop Century reservation for a prior day stay I received a call from someone at Disney telling me I had to fax the letter. He said the rule was always there, they just never enforced it.

Actually, about Interline rates, from what I know in the past (we traveled frequently with a friend that is airline employee) as long as ONE person in each room is considered "Interline", the whole rooms gets that rate. And Interliners are the employee, OR their spouse, OR the parents of the employee (not parents of the spouse) ... So, unless I am mistaken, one could take advantage of this rate by going WITH either the employee or their spouse...
Anyone ELSE know about this subject personally who has actually booked and sailed on Disney recently??

Ok, I JUST got off the phone with Disney Cruise line. I just HAD to ask them since we quite possibly are going to be going on one of these cruises with the interline rates- but ONLY if we all can get the rate. They said, if the spouse was ALONE, they don't qualify for the rate, BUT if the employee goes, and they book 2 seperate rooms, they all get the rate. FOR EXAMPLE, I specifically asked if employee went, AND spouse, and they needed 2 rooms because of number of people going, with Employee booked in one room with whoever, and spouse booked in another room with whoever, would BOTH rooms be booked at an Interline rate? She said YES as long as the employee IS booked in one of the rooms. So, unless she told me wrong, this is their policy. But YES, the actual employee MUST go, but as long as that happens, who they bring IN Their room does qualify for the interline rate as well.
