7 vs. 8 day rental cars rates/??s

Several questions regarding rentals:

1) 7 day rentals appear to be more expensive than 8 day. Anyone know if you can reserve for 8 days but return on the 7th?

2) Are we better with an SUV or full size car? We have 2 in car seats and will have stroller, etc. We drive a minivan at home, but that is not in the budget for vacation, especially with just 4 of us in the car.

3) National or Dollar- any recommendations?

Rental car companies work on a 24 hour clock. I have a feeling your 7 day rental is actually more like 6 days in the rental car world. In that case if you return early you can (and very likely MAY) be charged the daily rate. I recommend reserving what you actually plan to use and not attempting the "early return"

I perfer a full size due to the fact that it has a trunk. People with bad intentions can't see your stuff in the back.
