7 Pts. Remaining...what to do?

Just wondering if anyone else has had this scenario. Just a note, we are fairly new DVC members and have come across this as a first. We used our points and now seem to have 7 remaining points. We are unable to bank, transfer ( because we had a member transfer in some points already cause we were short for a stay). Unfortunately, I didn't do my math correctly and I just can't stand to see them disappear. I was even willing to transfer them to someone else...which I was told through MS cannot be done. Has anyone else experienced this? I now know to be much more precise with my points!

So are these the points you transfered in???? If so, they could be banked unless they are outside of their banking window. If not, then you are probably stuck, because I doubt there is a reservation you can make with just 7 points.

I had a similar situation this year, but I made a 7 month ressie with other points, and since it was made at the 7 month window, I was able to reallocate the extra points to that ressie. I have two home resorts, so it was a new trick for me. It doesn't sound to me like that is your situation though.

Thanks for the reply. My UY is DEC, which is tricky...too! This happened as it was our first DVC booking (I guess...live and learn!). We missed the boat to bank them...they were from 08 points...I believe)...which I had to have banked by Nov 31,09..(I think). Any case they are still just so lonely appearing in my 09 USE YEAR Points and I don't forsee a trip coming up (unless I transfer from my new 2010 UY in for a short trip)

Just a FIY, Dec UY banking deadline is July 31 (don't want you to lose points in the future.)

Banked points should have been used by MS before any 09 points when making reservations. Are you certain they are leftover banked 08 points and can't be banked?

As Disneycouple99 said - the banking deadline for a Dec UY is July 31st.

If these points are showing up as 2009 UY points you do have until July 31, 2010 to bank them. We are also a Dec UY with points left over and will bank them sometime before 7/31. They would move to your 2010 UY and have to be used before 12/2011. MS will always use the banked points before using the points from the current use year. You can view your points activity, vacation details and bank your points online at dvcmember.com. All may not be as dire as it appears.

Transferred points retain their own UY so the banking date would be different unless they are also from a Dec UY.

The only piece that doesn't make sense to me is that points from a Dec 08 UY, that would have had to be banked by 7/31/09 would already be expired.

Since your points are still good, they must be from a different UY or are Dec 09 UY points and are still in the banking window.

You should call and find out exactly what UY points these are and when they will expire.

I assume you don't have any vacations currently booked. If so, and you are using at least 7 current UY points, you can have the points reallocated to free up the 09 UY. If so, then you can bank those. -- Suzanne

That couldn't be or the points would have expired Dec 1, 2009 and would not be showing up in your 09 UY. You should call MS and verify exactly what UY they are.

Each time that I re-read your post I feel that something is either missing or left out of the equation. Definitely contact member services to get a clarification. Some CMs are more knowledgeable than others which can make a big difference. Also visit the DISboard Threads dealing with transfers. There may be one that applies to your situation. Use the search feature to locate those threads. I'm having trouble understanding how one can lose points that are showing on your statement unless, of course, a reservation was canceled less than 30 days before the arrival and they have been put in holding.
