What is everyones thoughts on the standard 7 night wonder alaska (we did this back in 2011, but taking the kids to alaska now) or the 8 night on the Magic that has icy straight and sitka instead of Juneau.

Ship wise we really don't care which, but more ports...

We just did an eight night with Disney in September, but with Juneau and Sitka...no Icy Straight. I would think about what you may want to do in port in Alaska and check excursions that match up with the ports to make sure that you won’t miss out on something you are looking forward to. Otherwise, longer is always better!

I did an 8 night in September 2023 with Juneau and Sitka. Honestly, I LOVED Sitka. It was my favourite port and Disney barely sail there. Unlike the other Alaska ports, it doesn’t feel overwhelmed with tourists and has a beautiful forest which is walkable from the town. So I would pick Sitka.

In Juneau we did whale watching which could easily be done at ISP, so I wouldn’t have felt I missed anything from doing ISP vs Juneau.

Icy Straight Point is not, in our opinion, worth the stop, however as was mentioned Sitka was. It has a lot of history from when it was the Capital of Russia America and how the Orthodox religion played a part and is still predominant there.. Juneau is also an interesting Port since it is the current Capital and you have the opportunity to visit the Mendenhall Glacier. I would research both Juneau and Sitka to see what you and the kids are most interested in seeing. Enjoy whichever one you choose.
