Day 5
Today was the day Mom was getting her belated Birthday present

I'm bad at keeping secrets so she knew about it. We were going to the MK for the KTTK Tour!!!
For some reason I didn't trust the time I had written down on my spreadsheet so we decided to head to the MK early. Mom wasn't too happy but knew I had been pretty good about dragging her out of bed early. PLUS I promised that if we arrived early we could go back to the Main St Bakery for some more French Toast Loaf!!
Well by the time we got to the MK (awesome parking spot btw!) it was around 7:45. I was dissapointed in the opening ceremony though. I didn't know they did a condensed version for EMH. Oh well...at least I wasn't blubbering like a baby...like I usually do.
At this point I was 90% sure that our tour time was for 8:30 so off we went to the bakery. As much of an extrovert as I am, I usually chicken out approaching Diser's I don't know. I saw probably around half a dozen during the trip and didn't say ANYTHING. I think there was even one on our tour
After we had sat down and started our breakfast, a group of women sat down next to us. One of them had on a rhinestone DIVA pin...I was almost certain these were the Dis Divas but was to chicken to say hi
Around 8:20 we went to check in for our tour. I'm not going to say much more about it than it was AMAZING!! My mom always wanted to see what I got to do at Disney and this allowed us a chance backstage. Our tour guide was Robin and I am in the process of writing Disney a letter to let them know how WONDERFUL she was.
I did so good on the tour...I only cried twice

My mom's only complaint was the tour was more about history than seeing how Disney "works"...but she LOVED it nonetheless. I really can't say enough!
At this point we decided we were going to leave the car in our fantastic parking spot and head back to the hotel. We originally had plans for an Illuminations cruise tonight but after we saw there was NO globe, we cancelled those. We did still have an ADR for Chef's De France and then planned on coming back to the MK to see Spectro and Wishes...which we had missed earlier in the week.
The bus wasn't bad...it came fairly quickly and we were back at the hotel before long. We stopped in the gift shop to grab an umbrella (the skies were looking dark) and a few "adult" drinks.
After cleaning up and getting dressed we were off...Here is the MAJOR reason I rent a car. It was 95 degrees and we waited like 20 minutes for the bus to arrive...I know it doesn't sound long, but in 95 degree HEAT it is
We were cutting it close to our 5 p.m. adr when we arrived at EPCOT. We quickly made it through the turnstiles and were trying to make it to France before the skies opened up.
Oh well.
In Canada it was sprinkling...by the UK it was raining cats and dogs...and my $2 Target umbrella was showing that you get what you pay for. BTW, thanks to the guy that yelled nice umbrella as it turned INSIDE OUT!
It's easier to walk barefoot than in wet
crocs...
The nice thing is World Showcase was quieter than normal!
Mom was so excited to be here...
Even though she HATES having her picture taken!
We checked in for our 5 p.m. ADR but the restaurant wasn't even open yet.
Once 5 p.m rolled around, everyone waiting under the canopy was ushered inside pretty quickly. What a beautiful restaurant...and the Host wasn't half bad either
Dinner was very good...with the exception of a few things. I know it's Disney and I know there will be kids there, yada yada. But do you think this is the appropriate place to not only let your kid stick all the penne noodles on her fingers...but to also HELP HER???
And #2 All I have to say is, ladies, please remember that it's not cute to wear a dark blue bra with a white shirt....especially if it rains. AND did you think it was appropriate to ask the restaurant for TABLECLOTHES (to use as towels) due to how heavily drenched you and your 3 girls were?
After dinner we had time to ride Soarin'...here is where the night goes downhill a bit. It was bound to happen really and I won't go into much detail. Let's just say I said something kinda dumb to my mom while on Soarin' that she took the wrong way but nonetheless it hurt her feelings.
By the time we got to the MK it was bothering me. She was upset and I was upset because she was upset. This resulted in a mother/daughter fight in front of the MK. Mom and I get along really well but once in a while these things happen. I was so excited we had been getting along so well the whole week.
Now I didn't want to go see fireworks because I knew she was upset...this went on for a while, there were lots of tears and we eventually made our way inside.
We had missed Spectromagic

but still had time for Wishes. Mom took a quick smoke break and I took some pics.
Beware at this point...if you don't like seeing pics of Cinderella Castle, skip forward. I was getting the hang of my new camera and tooks some pretty awesome pics (for me anyway!!)
more in next post!
