Mandy,

I just wanted to tell you that last night I was walking back to my room at BCV from dinner a Spoodles, when I saw a certain young lady on the bridge at the International Walkway. She was taking a picture of what I would guess to be the Boardwalk. When lo and behold what to my eyes spy, but two very distinctive tattoos! Now, I've seen those tats before, but never having met you in person I chose Not to say hello, lest one be thought creepy...or worse. I live in Celebration and have had people approach me because they've seen pics that I post or from my blog, and I'm okay with it, but others being approached...well I didn't know. Just thought I'd say. "saw you"

Hope you are enjoying you time. It was great to hang with you and your Mom.

Preface:

For as long as I can remember I have been captivated by the magic of Disney. While my first Disney memory is when my parents bought Cinderella on Beta. It was a very big deal and was the first Disney movie I owned. But the start of the Disney magic for me happended when I was about seven. On a trip to the mall we stopped by the Dollar Store. This was a favorite of my brother and mine, simply because we could take the small amount of allowance we had and bring a truckload of goodies home. As we were wandering the store I came across the book section. Now if you have ever been to the book section of the dollar store you will know that it is filled with bibles and titles that a seven year old is neither interested in nor has even heard of. One day I came across a biography on Walt Disney. It was a very small book, probably no more than 20 or 30 pages, but I was hooked. Since that time I was hooked. I was fascinated by the history of the company and the events that led up to Walt Disney World.

As a child our family vacations consisted of trips to the Adirondack Mountains to visit my grandparents. We didn’t have the money for big vacations…the closest we came was a week in Virginia beach when I was 15. I had dreamed of going to Walt Disney World since I was little, but knew the chances of going before I became an adult were slim.

After years of asking if we could go to Walt Disney World my parents finally relented. This trip was to happen in the fall of 1998 and was to be my high school graduation present, birthday present and Christmas present all rolled into one. I did as much research as I could, but my parents weren't really into that. Also, by the time the trip rolled around, I had already been accepted into my first Walt Disney World College Program and was to arrive in Florida just 2 months after the big trip.

We went for a week, driving from New York to Florida in just 19 hours. Our trip happened over Thanksgiving break (probably so my parents wouldn’t have to take too much time off work). It was hot, we left the parks everyday by 3ish and ate $2.99 breakfast buffets. We stayed in a hotel off 192, I think it was a Howard Johnson.

Despite all of that, the trip was amazing. Walt Disney World was more than I ever expected. It was full of magic and made me feel like I was home. After that trip I worked for the Walt Disney World for about 5 years in many different capacities. Everyone I know, thinks I am crazy and can’t imagine what you could do at Disney for an entire week. For me it has always been that Walt Disney World evoked a certain emotion. Don’t get me wrong, I love the rides and parades, but it was an overall experience that kept me coming back.

Until this trip….

PRE-TRIP REPORT

Day 1-Arrival Day

We arrive at the airport overpacked and ready to go. Our original flight was for 4 p.m. (cheapest one!) but showed up around 10 a.m. to see if there were any open seats on the 11:22 a.m. flight.

As a child at Christmas time we used to visit this large mall. Santa would be there high a top this big mountain...there was even a small monorail for the kids to ride. Also at Christmas time, this wonderful clock would come out. The clock had dolls from 12 different countries and on the hour a doll would come out. Well the mall was recently torn down and most everything was auctioned off...except the clock which for until it's transferred to the Children's Hospital will live at the airport.

Luckily there was and we quickly arrived at our gate.

The flight was uneventful if not a little turbulent. We arrived in Orlando and quickly got our luggage. We headed down to Alamo assuming that would go as quickly and smoothly as the beginning of our trip. I had gotten a great rate for Alamo and headed immediately to the self check-in kiosk. Unfortunately when I entered my confirmation number the kiosk informed me there was NO such number. Irritated I headed to an actual agent.

Introducing Mr. Condescending.

He informed me the confirmation number WAS indeed bad because I had cancelled it myself. I told him that was impossible as my rate was only NINETY-SEVEN dollars for a mid-size SUV for 8 days…I would have been stupid to cancel it. He said there was a reservation under my name for $237 though.

Um, I don’t think so.

According to Mr. Condescending, I had cancelled the WRONG confirmation number. Luckily I had brought the confirmation of the $97 rate with me. He spoke with a manager and got me a rate of $109. Fine, I will take it.

Mr. Condescending “Do you need insurance?” NO
“Do you need GPS?” NO
“Do you need Directions?’ NO
“Would you like to pre-fill the car at a rate of $3.55?” NO

Mr Condescending …”Where have you been all my life?”

Really, after all of this, you are hitting on me?

Finally Mom and I were on our way to the car. We arrive in the mid-size SUV row and what do we see? All white cars, lol. We selected what was actually a light gold RAV4 and were finally on our way.

A quick stop at the DTD Marketplace for Earl of Sandwich and some shopping proved to us very quickly how HOT it was. I had to stop by World of Disney to see how big of a Mickey plush I could find. The wife of my tattoo artist sent me with some money and asked that I ship the LARGEST Mickey I could find back to their one year old. I found it very quickly but decided to stop back another day as I didn’t have her money on me. Remember that for later…

By the time we got to our Resort it was almost 5 p.m. Check-in was simple and our room was ready. We settled in and began to get ready for dinner.

We had ADR’s for Raglan Road at 7 p.m. and I had been dreaming of the Bread and Butter pudding for months. Dinner was amazing (I will do a separate dining report) and we walked through DTD a bit before heading back to the hotel.

There was a free concert at House of Blues for the Romantics, but we were too exhausted. We had an early morning planned for the next day and needed our beauty sleep :cutie:
