This is probably one of the dumbest questions and has probably been answered, but Im going to ask anyways.

Our intention is to stay at a resort that isnt our "home" resort when we travel starting November 9th. Can we book reservations starting April 9th?

YES and not a day sooner. Each day after your chances of getting a room decrease.

I plan on getting a room at our home resort, just in case. But I probably need to buy a DVC Membership first...Which we are in the process of.

What resort are you buying and what unit size and resort are you hoping for at 7 months. Those dates will likely be very difficult to impossible at BCV or BWV due to the Food n Wine.

We are looking to stay over in the Magic Kingdom area, BLT, VWL. Obviously we are going to have to be pretty flexible this year being our first year.

We arent exactly sure where we are going to buy in yet, we are in the final decisions now. There are some possible rebuys available at VWL thru Disney and we need to go thru Disney due to financing...

I hope that flexibility extends to a few week window, not just which resort. Still, you should be able to get something for your preferred week though likely only OKW or SSR. Assuming you move pretty quickly, esp on a resale purchase. Even if you had an offer accepted today, you'd be cutting it close on the 7 month window but should just make it. If you're looking at retail, you'll have more options and flexibility.

Its a catch-22 situation. Buy resale and save a bundle. But you are on your own if you need financing. Or, buy from disney and pay higher prices, but have the option of DVC financing.
