7 Month Window for BWV (for August Stay)

A friend of ours is gifting us DVC points for next August (in exchange for watching his dog the month of January, while he is in Florida). We always stay at BWV and hoping we can again. I know the studios usually go fast. Are they all gone by the 7 month window usually? Looking for a 2 Bedroom and I know these are 1 Bedrooms and Studios. Could get away with a 1 Bedroom also - are my chances better for one of those?

Historically, a Garden/Pool view studio should be available in August, but history hasn't been a good predictor recently. A 1BR is more likely. I'd ask him to book a Studio if he can, and a 1BR if no Studios are available.

Thanks. I don't want a studio (would prefer a 2 Bedroom - but if the studios are gone, then so are the 2 Bedrooms). Hoping we have a chance - will take any view. If not - we can make a 1 Bedroom work too. It will be Me, DS23 and his Girlfriend and DD21 - so would be nice to have 2 bathrooms with a 2 Bedroom and more privacy but will take anything that is available.

Pre-2016, the pool/garden view studios and 2BRs were always open at 7 months out for any time in the summer, including holiday time. Then DVC decided to destroy that convenience by adding a less than twin-size Murphy bed that pulls out of a cabinet to the studios, thus allowing members to book five rather than the previously allowed four in a studio. The result has has been that the pool/garden studios (and thus also 2BRs) can now many times be difficult to get at 7-months out even in August. Your chances are probably 50/50.

Nevertheless, it is highly likely that the pool/garden view 1BRs (which allow five, although there is bedding for only four) will be open at 7-months out for your desired time, and even the boardwalk view and standard view 1BRs have a decent chance of being open.

A caveat to add is that under normal time schedules, BWV is due for a refurb in 2023, and if that occurs, there will always be a block of some rooms out-of-service for times during which the refurb is taking place and that could lower the chances further for getting any room at 7-months out in August. Whether that refurb will actually occur in 2023 is still an unknown, e.g., the regularly scheduled BRV refurb has now been delayed two years as a result of covid.

I heard about the refurb - but a lot of folks, seem to think it will get delayed. I knew a 2 Bedroom would be a long shot but am hopeful a 1 Bedroom will be available!!
