I understand how the 7 month window works as far as booking, but by 7 months is it 210 days or for example if booking for April 10 2019 you would be booking today rather than the 12th?

7 months means seven months, not 210 days. Some months have 31 days, not 30. February has 28 or 29 days. Seven months from today would be April 10, 2019.

Yes, it runs month to month, not day to day, for DVC. In other words, the 10th to the 10th.
DINING RESERVATIONS, on the other hand, are 180 days. Not 6 months. Starting 180 days out, from the beginning of your room reservation, you can book ADRs for your entire cation reservation period.

And just to make it more complex that 11 or 7 month period for DVC reservations often means the first of the month if trying for the end of a month, e.g. the 7 month window for a September 29 or 30 start date opens on March 1 not Feb 28.
Personal view is that Disney created all those various days or months out rules just to confuse those of us who struggled with math in high school.

I’m currently waiting on my first contract to be deeded and to get my account etc. Is there some where on the site that tells you when dates open etc? Thank you for you info!

When you log in and click on booking, it will show you the 11-month date for your home resort and the 7-month date for non-home resorts based on the date that you logged in. So, for someone logging in today (09/11/2018), you can book a home resort stay that begins 08/11/2019 or earlier. If you wish to book a non- home resort, then you can book a stay that begins 04/11/2019 or earlier.
The website takes situations like Feb. 28th or 29th or months with 31 days into account. So, anyone wishing to book a home resort stay beginning August 31st of next year will have to wait until October 1st to do so because there is no 31st day in September.

Thank you for the explanation, that makes it make a lot of sense. I’m missing what I’m hoping to be my 7 month window today. Just hoping there will still be availability in a couple weeks when I can finally book a trip!

Easter week is not as in-demand as the Christmas holidays. You will probably be able to find something but maybe not your first choice and you may have to split your stay between two resorts.

That was exactly what I figured! I’m actually totally fine with that as it will be out first dvc trip so I would love to check out multiple resorts. I’ve always felt any room in Disney is better than else where and I’ve never even stayed dvc!
