7 month booking window question

Hope someone can clarify this:

If I want to book at the seven month window, say the dates I want are the 1st through the 7th, one week. At my seven month window the first three days (days 1-3) of my proposed stay are waitlist only, but days 4-7 are available. My question: can the last 4 days (days 4-7) still be booked online? Can I waitlist days 1-3 online? Does the first day of the desired stay have to be available in order to book any of the days?

If you go online right at 7-months out for a resort other than the one you own( (or 11months out for the one one you own)) and the first day of your trip is shown as already full and all 6 days thereafter are shown as open, you cannot book any of those 6 days, You can waitlist your start date and up to any six nights thereafter if your start date is not open but you must waitlist in order of days -- you can waitlist your start date, the day after, and the next day, etc., but you cannot skip any days e.g., you cannot waitlist days 1 and 2 and also 6 and 7

This is what I have happening for a fall Aulani stay...Every day i log in to book, that day is gone...so, I have had to adjust waitlists and log in every day as we move through the 7 month window of our trip
