Does anyone have any wisdom to share on doing 7 mile beach on your own?

Take a taxi/ cost? where to get let off? Thanks

We did 7 mile beach on our own last December. It's very easy. When you get off at the pier, there will be a million taxis offering you a ride. It's $5 pp each way. They know where to take you. There is a beach at the end of the strip where there is a bar and food, rentals of every sort and a bathroom. It is easy and BEAUTIFUL. We had kids age 13, 10 and 17 months, and it was perfect for us. There are a bunch of taxis waiting there to take you back when you're ready.

We took a taxi to Sea Grape beach. They had chairs to rent as well as food and bathroom facilities. You could also rent kayaks and jet skis. We had a big group with kids ranging from age 4 to 10. They loved it and so did the adults. Most of us thought it was the best port day.

what is sea grape beach like? I have never heard of it. is the sand powder white and the sea calm and clear? How far?

OH YES... powder white sand and crystal blue water at Sea Grape!!!! It was a short ride and you can see the ship from the beach. There is a bit of a slope on the beach but other than that, it's heaven. There are locker rooms and changing areas. This beach blew away the beach in Cozumel. We did Paradise Beach in Coz and it was full of pebbles, not powder and the water was murky and full of sea grass with a rocky bottom.
Sea Grape is most definitely white powder and crystal blue water. ENJOY! My double dip cruise will be skipping GC. I wish they would skip COSTA MAYA instead. You'll love it.
AND BEST OF ALL, an inexpensive and awesome day!

Got a taxi (van?) for 7 of us and went to sea grapes. Didn't rent the chairs. Stayed till about 1pm and got a taxi back with an additional 2 people. It was a bout $5.00 per person. BUT...an excursion is offered to this beach too. They throw in a chair, umbrella and a drink and it's about $30-40 dollars per person. :confused3

Yes, to all your questions. It is beautiful and you will love it. Food, drinks, restrooms, taxi stand, water sports rentals, chairs, umbrellas and plenty of sunshine.

About 10 min or so and $4-5 per person each way. Courtyard Beach is right next to it and has all the same stuff. Great way to spend the day.

Don't do the excursion! It's only about 5.00 pp (?) ... it was a year ago, can't remember exactly, but in that neighborhood.... and it includes a chair, umbrella and a free bottle of water or soda. Do it on your own, much cheaper!

What port is Sea Grape Beach in? And what beach do you recommend going to in Nassau if you don't want to go to Atlantis (don't want to spend the money to go to Atlantis, rather!!)?

We were considering the DCL excursion only because I saw on a Navigator where open tendering doesn't start until after 11 am, and I was nervous about having to get tender tickets. Can anyone shed some light on the tendering process for Grand Cayman day? Leigh

Tendering wasn't the horror that it sounds like. To make it less of a hassle you have 2 options... get there early and get a ticket. Then they shuffle you into the movie theater and when your number is called, it's your turn to head downstairs. Or you can wait until later and there won't be any line.
I went down and got the ticket for my family and when the number was called, I went to the house phone in the hall, called the cabin and he came right downstairs.
I only waited about 15 minutes, IF THAT.
I certainly wouldn't pay all that extra money to get to the beach a few minutes earlier, but that's just ME.

This is one of the best sites I have seen for beaches and excursions in Grand Caymans. http://www.caymanactivityguide.com/forums/
Lots of locals giving their advise. The administrator's name is Joe and he will usually answer any posts within a day. :thumbsup2 They have a lot of info about saving money and even have coupons that you can print out. Very helpful. There are pics and videos of different beaches and activities. Joe will guide you toward the best value for your dollar based on what amount of time you have, how much you want to spend, and what type of activities your family enjoys.

Sea Grape beach is on Grand Cayman. Sorry don't know much about Nassau.
