I am having a hard time deciding between a stingray excursion or just going to the 7 mile beach on our own on Grand Cayman. Has anyone been to the 7 mile beach? What is it like? Would you recommend it?

We did both. We did a tour through Captain Marvins, then they dropped us off at the beach where we had lunch and hung out for a couple hours. The beach was beautiful!

7 mile beach is verrry verry nice! We made the decision to just go out and enjoy the beach. The sand is white as can be, and the water is clear as anything. (Big change from the Jersey Shore) haha. That cab ride is about 10 minutes and cost us 2 bucks a person. Our driver even came back at 2:00 to pick us up.

Dont Feel cheated But 7 mile Beach is only 5 .5 miles long

Bit of trivia for You... lol peter

Thanks Hygiene99

I was wondering if the 7 mile beach was really 7 miles long but I didn't want to ask a stupid question....

Is there more private areas then public?

Just spent a week in GC in June and loved every minute of it. The trip to the Stingray Sandbar is a once in a lifetime experience that you do not want to miss..most trips also include two additonal excellent snorkeling stops. 7 Mile Beach is beautiful. Great to swim, and also possible to snorkel in some areas. If you have time for both go for it!!

Forgot to mention. All beaches in Grand Cayman are open to the public you just have to find the public access path which is very easy along 7 Mile Beach.

We did 7-mile on our own, last December. It was great. They have a bar too, but we warned, the drinks are BIG, and like 10 bucks in u.s. You can rent snorkel gear fairly cheap at the beach, and there is a 'nice' reef to look at...

our friends were SOOO mad cuz someone was being completely rude and was walking on it (it dies from touch)

Also, don't miss this, it wasn't much more cost, go to 'Hell' they have a sovernir shop, and you can mail some postcards, and they have some stuff to look at....

it was interesting to say I've been to 'Hell' and back...LOL...

We did Carnival so we went to Belize too, and did the Cave Tubing, and there again the orginal 'natives' named one of the tubes 'Hell' so we went to 'Hell' twice... LOL...

but 7-miles is pretty.

Nativewaywatersports and Capt Marvins both get great reports, we're doing native way as $25 cruise special for stingray, snorkel stop and drop off at 7 mile.
