7 for 4 Can Be Good Deal for APs!

Anyone purchasing tickets through the 4/3 deal with the intention of using the value to upgrade to a AP should consider buying the package with a 7-day MYW with No Expiration option as you'll be paying the price of a 4-day which is $289.95...but the value of the ticket towards the upgrade would be a 7-day which is $367.58.

This would be especially helpful to those upgrading to the DVC AP as you'd only have to put around $30 with it to get the upgrade, and as long as you go through the turnstile to activate the ticket on the first day and then go to Guest Services to get the AP, you'll be able to park-hop once you do the upgrade.

Ok just so I have this straight please someone tell me if this is right or wrong. We have the 7 for 4 deal and with that we did the 8 day park hopper pass(normal price is about $281). What I'm understanding is that I can use it for 8 days then on the 8th day I can take it to the ticket window and upgrade to an DVC AP(about $381). Basically, leaving me to pay about $100 to upgrade. Is this what I'm hearing? Do you think Disney will be letting people use the whole 7 days or only the ones you paid for(5 days for us)? Because the room key is your tickets they can upgrade from the room key right? Thanks for the help. We are going again in Oct. for 10days and this would save us a lot.

You only need to use the ticket once. Once you use it you will get full credit for all days, not just what you paid. Leave yourself more time to upgrade in case of issues. One of these threads, sorry I can't remember which one; there is a horror story, but instant fix-it advice. Read through them, it's one that isn't overly long, but on the 3-5th page somewhere. Also, the sooner you upgrade the sooner you take advantage of AP perks.

Do have resort concierge remove your ticket from your room key before doing the upgrade. But yes, it is possible for guest services to do the upgrade from the room key.

Stupid question, we are thinking of becoming FL AP holders. If an AP rate comes along for end of April (we currently booked the 4/3 deal package) do we have to CANCEL our ressie or do we just modify it with the new code? I am just not sure how it works with packages vs. room only ressies. Thanks!

I did the opposite thing yesterday: changed from an AP discount room-only to a 4/3 package ressie. Since they're different types of ressies, they cancel and rebook. It's not considered a change. However, the CM I had booked the 4/3 package first, then went back and cancelled the room-only ressie. You want to make sure that you've got your new ressie secured before you cancel the old one!

Also, the deposit from one type of ressie is not transferable to the new one. So we had to put a new $200 deposit on the 4/3 ressie and the deposit on our room-only ressie is being refunded to us.

I'm not overly qualified to answer this, but I think FL AP holders get a different set of codes/rates than regular AP holders. I could be very wrong though. I'm just guessing this because Mouse Savers reports a separate set of codes for them. But, if a FL AP rate comes out (or if you do qualify for the regular AP rates) you will have to cancel because you'll be switching from a package to a room only, paying any fees that might be associated. Same works in reverse.

1. If you know you will use at least 7 days and don’t mind paying out in advance, it’s best to get the 7 day ticket because 3 of those days will be credited to you to be free. I’m not doing it because (a) I’m already sitting on other tickets—a total of 6 and this would make 11. Plus, (b) I have to borrow from this year’s budget for the next trip which really wouldn’t be used for 3-4 years and I prefer a lower bottom line.

2. Yes, it will be on your resort keys. Easy enough to remove them. You don’t have to though if you aren’t upgrading them on this trip. Just have resort concierge do it—it’s a desk right next to or near the check-in desk usually. Concierge is a planning service for all guests, not club level. Club level people do have a private concierge service, to my understanding, but the concierge I am referring to use the general concierge desk. The ones that will help you make ADRs and such. How long it takes will depend on lines, but once you reach the front, it shouldn’t take but a few minutes. Resort concierge is experienced and will do it quickly.

1) We decided to go with 1-day base tickets because only my DH needs the admission media. I have an AP. This significantly diminished the total cost of the trip, since the cost of upgrading his 1-day base ticket to an 8-day PH will be nearly entirely covered by the $200 GC.

2) Since he is going to upgrade his ticket, we should have his room key and ticket split, correct?

3) Can I save my unused 1-day base ticket and use it at some other time? Is it invalid 14 days from the date of issue or from the date of first use? Not sure how this works. Also, if I'm not using the base ticket, can I just leave it on the room key and use it for a ticket upgrade on a later trip or would I be better off getting a separate item for this, as well?

I purchased just 1 day tickets for this deal because I am intending to use that ticket TOWARDS the cost of the AP.

However, am I better off just getting the tickets for 7 days and using that towards the FL AP...or do they only count it as a 4 day ticket because of the promotion?

I know FL seasonal APs are $239 per person.

2) It’s best, especially if you added a dining plan. If no dining plan, it isn’t overly necessary. If they deactivate his key, you’ll have yours and can fix it at the resort easy enough. It won’t affect your time in the parks at all. Just a matter of how you want to spend your time.

3) Tickets are savable. They will not expire until 14 days after first use. Same for being upgradable. Until then, good forever. And if not used, anyone may use them. Just use them once first before upgrading them if saved. You do not have to remove the ticket from the room key if you are saving them. You can. I didn’t our last trip; just didn’t want to waste the time. So now I’m saving room keys. The tickets won’t go anywhere. Although, it could become demagnetized and it will take a little more time to get into the turnstile and then have the upgrade down. But that can happen with any ticket.

If you use the ticket, you'll get full credit for the current gate value of a 7 day ticket. You cannot change a ticket to have a cheaper ticket. If a 7 day ticket is worth more than a FL AP, you cannot change the MWY ticket to a FL AP. You could get a 6 day ticket (2 free days) or a 5 day ticket (1 free day) and get full credit for that if the gate value of those tickets are less than a FL AP.

OK, I just went to All Ears to look up prices. There are tons of different FL APs. A regular FL resident AP is $382.34, a base 7 day MYW ticket is $242.82. Get the 7 day tickets and upgrade after you use the ticket once.

ETA: Opps, just re-read your original post. A FL seasonal AP is $254.54. Still get the 7 day MYW ticket and pay $11.72 for the upgrade.

Thanks! I am sorry for the stupid questions, I just have never done a package. So if I booked two adults in the room, they are giving me TWO tickets correct (for me and my hubby)???? I am assuming this is the case! So with that in mind, I would be saving a lot doing what you say and then upgrading to a FL seasonal AP?

But the package is just a $306 difference total price for me to make it a 7 day ticket vs. a one day ticket. (Assuming this includes two tickets as the ressie is for two adults and once I use the tickets at the park they give me credit for full 7 day MYW). So basically this means I am only paying $153 per person for the 7 day MYW on top of the hotel room as part of the package.

I hope I am reading this right. hehe. Because that would mean it would be a lot cheaper for me to upgrade to an AP this way than if I were to do a room only ressie etc...

At least now I feel happy that I saved us $380 for the trip, which is huge, and I'm also feeling relieved, since everything's booked, we have the place and dates we wanted, and I even have all the email confirmations from Disney. Amazing!

I'm going numb. I've been all over these threads and never had so many PMs. I am happy to help everyone to the best of my ability, but I'm not sure what I've said where, to whom, and if I'm reading everything correctly anymore. So, if I miss understand anything or seem to be repeating myself, forgive me.

Everyone in the room will get the same tickets. Good assumption. Remember, with the 7 day ticket, three of those days are free so you are only paying for a 4 day ticket. I've also based all my assumptions on base tickets. If you add things that the price varies by the number of days (no expiration) you'll get other "free" options too, which could up your ticket values and savings. Hopping is a flat fee, so if you are upgrading, it won't really factor in. Just trying to confuse people more.

All I can say, in your case, get the 7 day ticket and upgrade. The gate value of a 7 day ticket is less than a FL seasonal AP so with 3 free days you come out ahead. Just use the ticket once before upgrading. Walk in the gate, then head over to guest relations.

My sister and her DD10 are going to WDW in 10 days. Their package is 6 nights at a Value resort, and each has a 1-day base ticket, no Dining. Since they bought 7-day MYW tix through Undercover Tourist, they will save their 1-day base tickets to use in Nov/Dec 2009.

1) Should my sister have the 1-day tix taken off their room keys?
2) Next November would they use those 1-day base tickets to enter a park, then go to Guest Services and upgrade to the multi-day ticket they want?

Okay, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around why Disney would give me credit for a one day pass that has already been activated. So, if I save my one day base ticket say until Jan 2011 when we will buy new AP's, I should go through the turnstiles then, and then come out and get upgraded to an AP? By the way, are the gift cards on the room keys also and will using the room key for the purpose of using the gift card activate the one day pass?

Disney will give you credit for a used pass because they want you in the parks longer. I’m sure they make the bulk of their profit on what you buy, not just getting in you in door. By giving you credit for a “used” pass, they are enticing you into going more. They do have limitations. It must be done within the first 14 days of first use. You can’t upgrade past 10 days total, unless an AP of some sort.

Save your AP until 2011. Go through the turnstile. Then upgrade your ticket. You DO NOT need to go back out of the turnstile. Guest Relations are located inside the parks.

A ticket is only activated by putting it through a ticket turnstile. Using the gift card (if on your room key, I'm not sure how that is working--I hear it is a credit to the room) or charging to your room in any way cannot activate your ticket.

I have one question. This is our first time having an AP so I'm new at this. We've booked the package so we will end up having a one day ticket for everyone that we are not using. Do we keep our KTTW or do we ask them to remove the ticket from our room key? I just wasnt' sure about using our KTTW card in four years or whenever we would find ourselves using this ticket.

I think your annual pass will start the first day of your trip.
