7 flights, 6 hotels, 1 cruise ship and a major stuff up...brace yourself UPDATE!

Well, i've booked LAX Marriott for 1 night, got it for $93AUD inc tax, very happy with that :thumbsup2

Trying to decide how to go about renting a car, should we rent until Saturday and drive to the Port dropping the car off at the rental place close to the port then taxi-ing the rets of the way?
Rent at the airport and drop off the car at the hotel instead and getting a car service to the port?
Other?

Still have NYC accom to book, but am holding out...still :lmao:

yep.....brains trust we are:rotfl:

you have to contact budget 24 hrs before pick up to get them to come get you at your resort.....or grab a bus to Downtown Disney, its a 5 min walk from there to the hotel.

when you drop off the car at cape Canaveral, they will load you on a free shuttle, just pay $1 per bag for the driver.....the shuttle runs every time they get a car in, so its quick and efficient.

we have done this the last 3 years and its worked a treat, getting magical express from the airport is better than having to drive after such a long flight. The dh appreciates that he doesnt have to drive ......:thumbsup2

just use the code and see how much you'll save. Budget is one of the only ones that have drop off/ pick up at cape Canaveral.

So, today I also booked a hire car, DH wanted an SUV (of course he did) so I compromised and got a small SUV, insurance and tax included $157AUD, would have been cheaper on a smaller car but it's ll he's asked for.

I didn't end up going through Budget either (double the price) and just figure we'll get a cab to the port, won't cost much.

Turned into such a nice day here!

I have DS at home on Wednesday, correction day, taking him to look at a new school after the issues we've been having so this could be the last trip for a while because the one we're looking at is exxy :scared1:

Oh well, it is what it is...

Not long to go now.

Which hotel are you holding out for in NYC?

I've been on Hotwire and I know the only one in times square with a suite listed in the amenities is the Doubletree, which is currently sitting at about $1630 for our 4 nights.
In saying that though, if I can get another 4* hotel around times square for a significantly lower amount I'll take it, I may even go Midtown, just waiting to see what the prices do

Are you set on having a suite Becpee? You could fit in a normal 2 double room which will be a lot cheaper.

I am no expert but I think that is a reasonable price for the Doubletree.
(I know it hurts,:faint: but that is NYC)
Does that price include tax?

FWIW - We loved it at the Doubletree!

That includes tax, I know it's a good price but I'm still hesitant ;)

The other hotels listed on Hotwire are around the same price, give or take a few bucks, although as you get down to Chelsea The prices start to drop in the $100's

Becpee - My brother stays at the Novotel in NYC. Have you looked at that as an alternative? I believe the room prices are in the $200's instead of the $300's. It might come with continental style breakfast.

Thanks, i'll have a squiz :thumbsup2

I'm scoping Hotwire and Lastminutetravel and some of the prices are cheaper than Hotels.com and others are pretty much the same.

Becpee, also check Hilton New York. Not sure what the prices are for over your dates but when we are there over Christmas it's in the 200's and it's a lovely hotel. Only 2 blocks off Times Square. I can highly recommend it. It has a suite also which is cheaper than Doubletree but I don't know whether it would still be available.

Starting to get nervous :scared1:

4 weeks from now i'll be sitting on the plane

I've got almost 0% chance of getting my menfolk to dress up in the heat so I was thinking I might try to get some clever t-shirts. Time's getting away though so we may just end up going as Australian tourists. :rotfl:
