7 Days of Dining with our Family.

Thanks for taking the time to post your reviews, its always so helpful. Sorry to hear the princess dinner wasnt very good. I'll be sure to make note of that

I'm sorry your experience was not magical. Our last experience there was not so great. It took FOREVER to be seated (like 45 minutes!), the waiter was not very attentive, our food took forever, and the princesses seemed to rush through the restaurant. It just seemed that they had way overbooked reservations. We won't be going back on our next trip.

I'm really enjoying your reviews!

We were headed to Kona Cafe at the Polynesian resort and then to the Magic Kingdom for the day. I was looking forward to trying some new things and capping off the evening with The Spectro Magic Parade and Wishes!

Everyone must be up and dressed so we can get to our 8:00 ADR. For those of you in the planning stage here is a tip. We had a couple ways to get to the Polynesian. We could drive to the the Ticket and Transportation Center then take a Monorail to the Magic Kingdom and then get on the resort monorail to the Polynesian. This would be time consuming. Next option would be drive to the Polynesian and park there. Then either risk leaving the van in the parking lot at the Polynesian and take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or take the van over to the TTC and head to the Magic Kingdom. Again time consuming. Third and Best choice would be
Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and ride the Resort Monorail around to the Poly. If you are staying on property take the bus to the Magic Kingdom it drops you off in front of the park and you don't have to deal with the Ticket and Transportation Center.

There actually is one more workable option - not necessarily better than the one you chose, but helpful for people who are staying offsite. You can park in the MK parking lot and easily walk to the Poly from the TTC. There's a walking path that leads to the left as you're approaching from the parking lot, and it only takes about 5 minutes to walk there.

DH with the Press Pot of Coffee

IMG_0052.jpg

Mmmmmmm... press pot coffee! Your DH looks very happy with it. :cool1:

I ordered the Tuna sandwich with chips another orange soda and the apple dessert. It was yummy. I was pleasantly surprised by the tomato on the sandwich. They were ripe and not mealy.

th_IMG_0081.jpg

I love the tuna salad sandwich at Columbia Harbor House. It is definitely on our to-do list for this coming May.

Great reviews! Can't wait to read more.

Tusker House Character Breakfast!
Lunch at Yak & Yeti's Counter Service
Dinner at Boma!

Coming up soon! I am having problems getting the pictures to copy and paste so I hope to update it after I resolve these Technical Difficulties!

:goodvibes All of these restaurants were yummy! So we had a great day at the Animal Kingdom.

We were running late getting to the Park from our resort but once they checked our name off the list we headed into the park towards Africa. Various CM's along the way made sure we knew which way to go.

We checked in and were photographed quickly and led to a table no problem. This restaurant makes a great table service place. We had eaten many counter service meals here and enjoyed them all so we were excited to try it at a Character meal. As a counter service it was always very hard to find a table though.

We were led to a table in the furthest room available. It was quiet back there but a long walk for Ethan with his plates.

I enjoyed a lot of the African foods. There was a great porridge that had a fresh corn taste. I think it was called mealie pap. I also enjoyed the bobtie which was like scrambled eggs with meat on top, some vegetable frittata, cheese blintzes. The special juice was delicious. DH had more of the American food, scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and a couple of Krispy Kreme Donuts. Abby nibbled and picked at some fruit. She kept asking me when we could get some soda in the refillable cup we had brought. That was all she could think about.
Ethan enjoyed some fruit loops, a mickey waffle and some bacon and a donut.

The waitress brought us a cupcake for our Anniversary.
We were pretty full though so it was hard to eat.

The Characters came around and they all posed for pictures.

Coming up Counter Service Lunch

We enjoyed the park after breakfast and a storm came up. We decided to head back to the hotel for a break. We made it back to the room right before it started to pour!

After the break we drove back to the Animal Kingdom so we could have our car to get back to French Quarter from Boma. If you don't have a car you can take a bus to Downtown Disney and then transfer to your resort bus there.

The Anandupur Local Food Cafe is located right next to the entrance to Yak and Yeti. We ordered our food and were served quickly. We picked up some utensils and found a seat behind the building.

We sat next to this lovely water feature.
IMG_0178.jpg

DH ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein
IMG_0179.jpg

With a bottle of water and a frozen lemonade.
I ordered the mandarin chicken salad with water and a mango pie.

For the kids I ordered a cheeseburger with
chicken fried rice and french fries.

Ethan ate the cheeseburger and fries. He also had a little taste of the noodles.
IMG_0180.jpg

Abby ate the fried rice and some of the Shrimp Lo Mein.

We refilled our big Animal Kingdom cup with Sprite for $1

I thought I had more pictures of the food but they aren't on the card. I wonder what happened to them:confused:

The salad was okay just some iceberg lettuce with chicken and a citrus style dressing. DH really liked the shrimp Lo Mein. I tried it and thought it was yummy too. A little greasy but yummy. This is someone two people could share easily. The Mango pie was delicious. One of my favorite desserts. It had a cheesecake type texture and was just a little tart. I took a couple of bites before I took the picture. :upsidedow

I love that the line without the CM runs so much smoother! I wish all CS places would have that. I am in for the rest!

I'm really enjoying the reviews!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Looking forward to hearing about Boma and what your kids thought about it. We are taking our kids in May.

We enjoyed a bit of Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom and then drove over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. The lodge is quite close to the park and is very easy to drive to. If you don't have a car take a bus from the park. After you eat you can take a bus to Downtown Disney and then transfer to the bus that goes to your resort.

So we checked in about 10 minutes early and waited. We probably had to wait 20 minutes. The place was very busy and there were a lot of really big groups. It was about 7:10 by this time.

DH ordered a beer and I ordered a drink
IMG_0200.jpg

This was the Magical Star Cocktail it was yummy. Abby and Ethan immediately started arguing about who would get my glow cube. :sad2:
I sent Ron and Abby up to the buffet to get started. They brought me back some
Coconut Curried Chicken soup.
Sorry it is such a bad picture.
IMG_0199.jpg

It was yummy but I really preferred the Carrot Ginger Soup I added a couple of pieces of pita bread to the top.
IMG_0201.jpg

I went up to the buffet and made a plate for Ethan
IMG_0198.jpg

He has Macaroni and cheese, a chicken breast which I cut up, a chicken leg, green beans and french fries.

Here is what I chose
IMG_0202.jpg

Bobooti the yellow stuff :rolleyes1
Salmon it had nuts on top and was kind of bland.
Mealie bread *the little muffin in the middle*
Pap with a tomato sauce on top
Saffron Rice *Not sure about this one*
There are a couple of sauces on the plate too. The dark red sauce was really spicy.
I realized that I missed the salads so I went back for these
IMG_0204.jpg

Curry Pasta Salad
Falafel with Yogurt sauce
a couscous salad and
salad of mixed greens.
I didn't take pictures of Abby and Ron's plates because they had started eating while I was at the buffet.
Next up was dessert.

Ethan making a funny face with his dessert plate
IMG_0206.jpg

He has a zebra dome, a chocolate chip cookie, flourless chocolate cake, chocolate mousse and a spice pyramid. He liked everything but the pyramid. I tasted it and it was really dry almost stale.
IMG_0205.jpg

My desserts were
Banana Bread pudding with rum sauce, a zebra dome, Pineapple cheesecake and chocolate mousse.
These were all delicious.
Boma has a really great variety of African food along with some basics for the kids. We have eaten here three times on our various trips and it has always been delicious. Our kids have enjoyed it and we have too!
I definitely recommend it!:thumbsup2

The next morning we were on our way to Disney Hollywood Studios. We ate Pop-Tarts in the room so we could get there early enough for Toy Story Mania.
When we got to the park I went to take a picture and the camera was missing it's battery. We had charged the battery the night before and Ron didn't put it back in the camera, sorry I have no pictures for the day.
This ended up being a great plan because we were early enough to get fast passes for TSM and then we hopped in the standby line which had a 20 minute wait. We loved the ride!

So we were hungry but it was early (not quite 11:00), we decided to try ABC Commissary. We had an early dinner reservation for Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre.
DH ordered Fish and Chips with a Coke and Chocolate Mousse.
I ordered a cheeseburger and fries with a diet coke and chocolate Mousse.
Abby ordered a cheeseburer with fries and grapes and a coke.
Ethan ordered a cheeseburger with fries and grapes and apple juice.

It was early so we found a seat quickly. Our food wasn't very good though. Nothing was hot. My cheeseburger was lukewarm at best. I nibbled at it and then ate the chocolate mousse.
We didn't enjoy this meal at all and I don't recommend it.

After a few more attractions the kids were hungry. We were headed to the Beauty and the beast show so we stopped for a pretzel and a frozen lemonade. They were delicious. We should have ordered two of each:lmao: I thought that the frozen lemonade would be one of those Minute Maid frozen solid cups. This was more like a freshly made slush.

We also should have taken it with us over to the show. You are allowed to eat in there. We would have gotten better seats if we had taken our snack in there.

For Dinner we had a 5:15 ADR so we browsed the shops around Sunset Boulevard and strolled over to the Sci-Fi Dine In Theatre.
This had been Abby's choice for Dinner. She loves the atmosphere and theming. We had to wait a while before we were seated. We were in the front of a car and had a great waiter, Bosh was really nice.

Ron ordered a Beer Yuengling on Draft. The kids and I ordered Root Beer. He offered us Milkshakes but I was saving room for the Peanut Butter and Chocolate dessert.

Ron ordered the Shrimp Pasta. I ordered the Chicken Bruschetta with Cucumber Salad.

Ethan ordered Macaroni and Cheese with fries and Abby ordered the Beef N' Macaroni with a Salad.
It seemed to be taking a long time for our food to come out so we ordered some onion rings. They were yummy.
Ron thought his Shrimp Pasta was excellent. My Chicken Sandwich was bland and boring. The cucumber salad was cool and crisp and very refreshing.

The kids ate their entrees and drank so much soda. We had to make a couple trips to the bathroom.
They ordered chocolate milk shakes for Dessert and Ron and I ordered the chocolate cake with the Peanut butter center. The desserts were yummy! We tried to head over to Fantasmic! but it was too late and they weren't letting anyone else in. We were really disappointed and headed back to the hotel.

While we were riding the bus back feeling disappointed about missing out on Fantasmic I came up with an alternative plan.

It was early and I didn't want to take the kids swimming it just wasn't warm enough. So I thought we could head over to Downtown Disney on the little boat and then visit Goofy's Candy Co. We could also do a little souvenir shopping. Ron wasn't interested, he wanted to go back to the room. So the kids and I headed down to the boat dock and enjoyed a lovely ride to Downtown Disney.

Goofy's Candy Co. is really close to the Boat dock so we headed there first. We wanted to make our own treats.

Here are our treats
Abby
Three pretzel rods dipped in milk chocolate, one covered with sprinkles, one covered with mini M&M's and one with crushed Reese's Peanut Putter cups all three are drizzled with caramel.
IMG_0223.jpg

Ethan's
Three marshmallows on a Mickey Straw dipped in milk chocolate and covered with sprinkles.
IMG_0221.jpg

IMG_0219.jpg

Mine
Three pretzel rods dipped in milk chocolate, coated with crushed pecans and drizzled with caramel.
IMG_0222.jpg

We used 3 snack credits for these and I used another snack credit for a candy for Ron

IMG_0220.jpg

It was caramel with pecans and a chocolate Mickey on top.
We browsed through The World of Disney and picked up a couple of souvenirs. Then we went back to the room with our treats. They were yummy and we nibbled on them for the next couple of days. I wish that I had a big ziploc to put them in because the humidity made the pretzels get a little soft.

I hope you guys are still out there reading along! Anyone??? Anyone???;)

I'm still here! I cannot wait to go to WDW next week and hopefully make it to Goofys for some treats

I had read about the lovely treats here at the Main Street Bakery here on the Dis Dining Reviews. Everything sounded so yummy so we headed for the Magic Kingdom and a little breakfast.

We got into the restaurant and there is a little line not too long but it moved very slowly. :snail: We stood there and stood there and every so often crept forward slowly.
Then, Ethan had to go to the bathroom :sad2: So I told DH to get French Toast Loaf, a Cinnamon Roll and whatever he wanted. He was concerned that he wouldn't order what I wanted but I told him don't worry everything will be great and I took Ethan over to the bathroom by Casey's Corner.

By the time I got back he was in line to pay and I quickly grabbed a little table, polished it off with some Chlorox wipes and grabbed some napkins and some syrup and jelly.
Here is our breakfast.
IMG_0225.jpg

Ron ate the croissant he said it was yummy. It looked hot and delicious. Ethan shared the French Toast Loaf with me. It was yummy, sweet and cinnamon spiced I put a little strawberry jelly on it and it was delicious. I also tried the Cinnamon roll. It was gooey and sweet with just enough cinnamon spice. It didn't have cream cheese icing though, just a powdered sugar glaze.:thumbsup2 :earsboy: Main Street Bakery is yummy!
We paid out of pocket for this one so I don't know if you can use counter service or snack credits.

Thank you for reading! What do you think you will make?? I think I would make the same pretzels!:rotfl:

Probably the pretzels with milk chocolate, butterfinger candy and caramel drizzle....ooh boy they were good!

Your breakfast at Main Street is exactly what DH and I get, and we eat it all!

We had dined at Akershus during a previous trip in 2006. It was a lovely lunch with the princess, quiet enough and we thought the food was good.

So we decided to give dinner a try. Our ADR was for 6:45. We arrived in Norway at about 6:00. The wait for Maelstrom said 30 minutes. DH didn't think we had enough time really and he wanted to use the restroom. So we got fastpasses for Maelstrom! Then browsed in the gift shop for a little while.

At 6:20 we decided to check in. I told the hostess we were a little early but we wanted to check in. She said she would check us in but we probably wouldn't be seated until closer to our ADR time. I said that would be fine. I asked her if we had time to go on the ride and she said we should wait nearby. So we sat on the curb next to the entrance. The kids played with their little Peter Pan toys. The hostess called name after name. The kids reminded me frequently that they were hungry. It got darker and darker. Each group she called was huge, parties of 7, 8 , or 10 seemed quite common. At 6:45 we stood up, surely she would call our Royal Family soon??
At 6:55 I went back up to the podium. I told the girl we had checked in and had been waiting but she hadn't called our name. She went and found a manager with a little computer and I told him our name. They just shrugged and said something happened but they didn't know what. :sad2: Lovely.
We waited a little longer and finally she called our name and we got in line to get our picture taken. Ethan wouldn't let go of my leg so Abby was the only one in the picture with Belle.
abbybelle.jpg

So finally we sat down. We ordered the kids the pirate punch. They both wanted Captain Hook light ups.
I wanted some iced tea. DH ordered the Voss Artesian Water from Norway.
We had a hard time deciding what to order. DH settled on the Grilled Vegetable stuffed pasta. I order the mustard glazed salmon. Abby ordered the kids pizza. Ethan decided to try the ravioli with meatballs.

Then we went to the cold buffet. There were several salads I enjoyed. A beet salad with sliced granny smith apples was very refreshing. I also remember a lovely cucumber salad and a pasta salad. I also had some garlic herb cream cheese with some smoked salmon. I passed on the pickled herring. Ethan ate a couple of pieces of sliced turkey. Abby liked the beet salad too. Ron had some peel and eat shrimp and some of the cheese cubes. They weren't too exotic though just muenster and swiss.

The princesses were lovely and came around very quickly.
IMG_0111.jpg

Jasmine gave Ethan a little kiss!
IMG_0108.jpg

But our entrees seemed to take forever. We didn't get them until after 8:00. Finally they arrived and we were disappointed right away. Ron's pasta had a Roasted Red pepper sauce on them that hadn't been described on the menu. My piece of salmon was tiny and over cooked. Abby's pizza was only 4 inches and was well done. It looked about as good as a tombstone pizza. She didn't eat 1/4 of it and I don't blame her. Ethan's ravioli were soggy and over cooked as well. They had a pool of water in the bottom of the bowl with the tomato sauce over the top. He did like the fact that they were shaped like Mickey Heads!

Our waitress was nowhere to be found so there wasn't anything to be done. We nibbled our entrees and waited for dessert. That also seemed to take an eternity.

Dessert was probably the best part of the meal. They served us a schoolbread, rice cream and the flourless chocolate cake. These were all yummy. And we shared them but Ethan liked the chocolate cake the Best. Abby and Ron liked the schoolbread the best and I loved the rice cream.

What other princesses were there besides Cinderella (and Belle)? I had heard in the past that Cinderella isn't usually there ,but my sister went in Jan and she was there then too. We are hoping to see Ariel there when we go in a 1 1/2 weeks.

We were surprised to see Cinderella. I would have liked to see Mulan and Snow White. We have seen Alice there on a previous trip.
