Hello! Thank you for reading. This is my first Dining Review. I am also trying to do a Trip report.

I have really enjoyed reading along on some of your reviews and I would like to share my trip too.

So here are our ADR's
Monday Morning Kona Cafe
Tuesday Dinner at Akershus
Wednesday Breakfast at Tusker House Dinner at Boma
Thursday Sci Fi Dine in Theatre
Friday 1900 Park Fare
Saturday departure day

We arrived on Sunday Jan. 4 and headed over to DTD even though we don't have an ADR we are hoping to get into Raglan Road for some Irish Food.
Sorry no pictures for this meal. We had left the camera back at the resort.
The restaurant itself is almost completely empty. Score!!! We are seated right away. The waitress arrives to take a drink order and asks if we are on the dining plan. Yes, we are on the dining plan but I tell her we will pay for this meal out of pocket. DH and I order a beer flight to share. I also get a glass of water with lemon. The kids each order some kiddie cocktails. I wonder how much money kiddie cocktails cost at Disney. DH says don't worry about it let them have kiddie cocktails. The waitress ignores our conversation and says nothing reassuring about the price. I decide I don't like her.

Hmm what to order... Fish and chips? Shepherd's pie? something more adventurous? I try to remember all the dining reviews I had read before we left. All I can remember is how yummy the Bread Pudding is! As I read the menu and the prices I begin to think that paying OOP for this meal is a bad idea. I wonder if there is someway to change that commitment I made to the waitress. Does she enter that in a computer somewhere? Can I change my mind. DH says just ask. The waitress recommends the salmon and the ham. I hate ham, I really only like wild salmon the farm raised stuff tastes nasty to me. Chances are it is farm raised salmon so I decide against that. I settle on Shepherd's Pie. DH orders the ham and Abby decides on the Irish Macaroni and Cheese with a salad and Ethan gets a cheeseburger with french fries and ketchup. As we wait for our food Ethan repeatedly asks me will the waitress bring ketchup. Mommy, I have to have ketchup. Will there be ketchup mommy? Yes, Ethan there will be ketchup. The beer flight is yummy. I really enjoyed the Strongbow Cider. The soda bread is excellent dipped in the oil. The oil has a Guinness reduction swirled in it which is sweet. I finally asked the waitress if we could use the dining plan for this meal and she said sure. She was an attentive waitress but not really friendly.

Our entrees arrived and are delicious. I loved the shepherd's pie. DH really liked the ham with cabbage and potatoes. Abby didn't care too much for the macaroni. I thought it was delicious. She was also disappointed that the salad wasn't made with iceberg lettuce. It was mixed baby greens with ranch dressing and some grape tomatoes. Ethan ate half his cheeseburger with ketchup of course and french fries. He shared some fries with Abby. They put the fries in a separate silver cup on the plate and Ethan thought he could bring it with him.

For dessert the kids order chocookberry
DH orders the Dunbrody Kiss and I ordered the infamous bread and butter pudding.

Of course desert is yummy. But each kid eats only about 3 bites. I don't think I have seen my kids finish anything. They always leave seem more concerned about playing than eating.

Raglan Road is definitely a :thumbsup2 I just wondered where the Dancer was. I think DH would have liked her and we were seated in the center of the restaurant near the little stage where they dance.

We were headed to Kona Cafe at the Polynesian resort and then to the Magic Kingdom for the day. I was looking forward to trying some new things and capping off the evening with The Spectro Magic Parade and Wishes!

Everyone must be up and dressed so we can get to our 8:00 ADR. For those of you in the planning stage here is a tip. We had a couple ways to get to the Polynesian. We could drive to the the Ticket and Transportation Center then take a Monorail to the Magic Kingdom and then get on the resort monorail to the Polynesian. This would be time consuming. Next option would be drive to the Polynesian and park there. Then either risk leaving the van in the parking lot at the Polynesian and take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or take the van over to the TTC and head to the Magic Kingdom. Again time consuming. Third and Best choice would be
Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and ride the Resort Monorail around to the Poly. If you are staying on property take the bus to the Magic Kingdom it drops you off in front of the park and you don't have to deal with the Ticket and Transportation Center.

We arrived at the Poly and the Kona Cafe right at 8:00 am. Check in and being seated was pretty routine. I made a mistake of assuming they had Mickey waffles. When I looked at the menu ooops they had Mickey Pancakes. Ethan didn't want Mickey pancakes. They also had Minnie's French Toast, Goofy Toast an egg fried in the middle of a piece of toast and Donald's choice a scrambled egg with Sweet Cinnamon toast. Each item came with bacon, sausage, or a Fruit cup.

DH and I ordered the Press pot of Kona Coffee. I ordered Lilokoi juice for Abby and Ethan. Ethan didn't like his. The coffee was delicious. I don't drink a lot of coffee but this stuff was yummy. I asked the waiter for water for Ethan and if there was a way to get some Mickey Waffles for Ethan. The waiter assured me that some Mickey waffles were available so Crisis was averted. DH ordered the Big Kahuna and I ordered the Tonga Toast. Abby ordered Minnie's French Toast

Our food arrived and it was delicious! The Tonga Toast was fabulous. But it came with some Strawberry Soup like they serve at the Grand Floridian. Is this what it usually comes with?

The Macadamia Nut Pancakes that came with DH's Big Kahuna were yummy. I think the pineapple sauce would be yummy on the Tonga Toast. Ethan loved his Mickey Waffles and his bacon. The waiter took off the charge for the Lilokoi juice that he didn't like.

Looking forward to your report. I am planning alot of the same restaurants for next fall.

After a lovely morning in the Magic Kingdom including 11:00 am Mickey Bars per DH's request.

We decide to head for Columbia Harbor House for Lunch

It is pleasantly busy. Just busy enough so you don't worry about whether the food was good but not too busy that you couldn't find a table.
DH orders Fish and chicken with fries with two waters instead of a desert. He enjoyed them and finished it all. He says they taste the same as all the other fried fish in WDW. So it isn't gourmet.
I ordered the 8 Chicken Nuggets with Fries for the kids. Along with an orange soda and a tap water.
I ordered the Tuna sandwich with chips another orange soda and the apple dessert. It was yummy. I was pleasantly surprised by the tomato on the sandwich. They were ripe and not mealy.

The kids didn't eat much so I was glad I had only ordered one entree. The kids menu there is very icky. At the time I think you could get the grilled chicken or a turkey pinwheel roll up. So always ask if you can order from the adult menu if your kids won't eat what they have on the kids menu.

I'm enjoying your report thank you. I had a Big kahuna and Kona coffee last December. Yummy!!!

Was the tuna sweet? Did it have pickles? Onions? I've always wanted to try this sandwich, but I don't like sweet tuna salad. :confused3

Thank you for reading! That coffee is the best on property. I think my DH could have drank the whole thing.

No, it didn't have any pickle in it. I kept wishing I had a pickle to go with it. I like pickle with my tuna. I don't recall any onions or celery in it either. It was a great sandwich.

After our meal we decided to go back to the room to rest.
We planned on returning to the Magic Kingdom for dinner and Spectro Magic.

After a nap and some swimming we headed back to the Magic Kingdom. We decided to eat at Pecos Bill and watch the parade. It was getting close to parade time and it was very hard to navigate through the crowd to Frontierland. Ron and Abby decided to have Turkey Legs. Ron reports that these are your standard smoked turkey legs. A little tough but a fun dinner.

I made my way into Pecos Bill and noticed they had computer ordering terminals. Hmmm no line, I'll give it a try. Very easy to use, I ordered myself a Barbecue Sandwich, french fries, chocolate pudding, and a bottle of water. For Ethan I ordered a hamburger, fries, grapes and a small bottle of water. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

The food comes up pretty quickly despite the commotion on the other side of the line where a CM is taking orders. I get some ketchup, cheese sauce, and pickles at the toppings bar.

I thought the barbecue sandwich was very good. I was scared it would be fatty but it wasn't. Cheese sauce for the fries was yummy. The chocolate pudding was tasteless and icky. Even Abby thought so. Ethan really enjoyed his burger and fries too. Very good counter service meal!:thumbsup2

Our second day was spent at Epcot.

We started the morning out at the Food Court in our resort, Port Orleans French Quarter.

Ron ordered a big platter with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and a biscuit. Abby said she wasn't hungry.
I ordered the snack size order of beignets. In the room I had some Tazo Chai Tea I brought from home and some milk. I brought a reusable container with me and enjoyed my favorite drink from home. Ethan had fruit loops and milk which are also a snack credit.

They cook the beignets for you when you order them and they are yummy and hot. When Abby saw them she decided she was hungry and ate one after all.

Sorry about the lack of pictures. I don't have any pictures of food from this day. I don't know what happened.:confused3

After a busy morning in Epcot we headed to the World Showcase for Lunch.
Abby had chosen Morocco so we headed to the Tangerine Cafe. I ordered the lamb/chicken combo plate. Ron chose the Chicken plate, I ordered the kids one order of Chicken fingers with fries. We all drank water. We also got Baklava for dessert.

Both of the plates came with couscous salad, hummus and bread, and tabouleh. This along with all the meat they give you. It was a yummy meal! I recommend it to anyone. The hummus is creamy and delicious on the bread. I love the couscous salad it had a slightly tangy taste. The baklava was sweet and crispy and very fresh. We really stretched our counter service credits by having the kids share. They each had two chicken fingers and some fries.

We walked through world showcase enjoying the scenery and the weather. We bought some candy in Japan and as we were leaving Japan we passed the Kaki Gori booth. The kids decided to share one. They chose the rainbow flavor and they said it was yummy!

Up Next A Dinner Fiasco at Akershus

I'm in too! Your trip is at the same time of year we are hoping to go next year.

We had dined at Akershus during a previous trip in 2006. It was a lovely lunch with the princess, quiet enough and we thought the food was good.

So we decided to give dinner a try. Our ADR was for 6:45. We arrived in Norway at about 6:00. The wait for Maelstrom said 30 minutes. DH didn't think we had enough time really and he wanted to use the restroom. So we got fastpasses for Maelstrom! Then browsed in the gift shop for a little while.

At 6:20 we decided to check in. I told the hostess we were a little early but we wanted to check in. She said she would check us in but we probably wouldn't be seated until closer to our ADR time. I said that would be fine. I asked her if we had time to go on the ride and she said we should wait nearby. So we sat on the curb next to the entrance. The kids played with their little Peter Pan toys. The hostess called name after name. The kids reminded me frequently that they were hungry. It got darker and darker. Each group she called was huge, parties of 7, 8 , or 10 seemed quite common. At 6:45 we stood up, surely she would call our Royal Family soon??
At 6:55 I went back up to the podium. I told the girl we had checked in and had been waiting but she hadn't called our name. She went and found a manager with a little computer and I told him our name. They just shrugged and said something happened but they didn't know what. :sad2: Lovely.
We waited a little longer and finally she called our name and we got in line to get our picture taken. Ethan wouldn't let go of my leg so Abby was the only one in the picture with Belle.

So finally we sat down. We ordered the kids the pirate punch. They both wanted Captain Hook light ups.
I wanted some iced tea. DH ordered the Voss Artesian Water from Norway.
We had a hard time deciding what to order. DH settled on the Grilled Vegetable stuffed pasta. I order the mustard glazed salmon. Abby ordered the kids pizza. Ethan decided to try the ravioli with meatballs.

Then we went to the cold buffet. There were several salads I enjoyed. A beet salad with sliced granny smith apples was very refreshing. I also remember a lovely cucumber salad and a pasta salad. I also had some garlic herb cream cheese with some smoked salmon. I passed on the pickled herring. Ethan ate a couple of pieces of sliced turkey. Abby liked the beet salad too. Ron had some peel and eat shrimp and some of the cheese cubes. They weren't too exotic though just muenster and swiss.

The princesses were lovely and came around very quickly.

Jasmine gave Ethan a little kiss!

But our entrees seemed to take forever. We didn't get them until after 8:00. Finally they arrived and we were disappointed right away. Ron's pasta had a Roasted Red pepper sauce on them that hadn't been described on the menu. My piece of salmon was tiny and over cooked. Abby's pizza was only 4 inches and was well done. It looked about as good as a tombstone pizza. She didn't eat 1/4 of it and I don't blame her. Ethan's ravioli were soggy and over cooked as well. They had a pool of water in the bottom of the bowl with the tomato sauce over the top. He did like the fact that they were shaped like Mickey Heads!

Our waitress was nowhere to be found so there wasn't anything to be done. We nibbled our entrees and waited for dessert. That also seemed to take an eternity.

Dessert was probably the best part of the meal. They served us a schoolbread, rice cream and the flourless chocolate cake. These were all yummy. And we shared them but Ethan liked the chocolate cake the Best. Abby and Ron liked the schoolbread the best and I loved the rice cream.

That stinks! I would have complained big time...we did breakfast there last month and it was awesome...guess we will just have to stick to that...your littles ones are the cutest!

I need to master the art of complaining. My mother was a waitress so I hesitate to complain to waitresses. Usually it isn't their fault when food comes out of the kitchen so poorly cooked and presented. I guess then I should have asked for the manager? What do you ask him to do? Bring us a new entree? Or a new version of what we ordered?
