Hi all I have not posted much (ever) but I have gotten so much information from these boards for our last few trips to disney. In this post will be reviewing our seven nights of Deluxe dining with disney. I hope this is helpful for others who are trip planning like we were!

Lots of Pictures will be included as soon as I make it to ten Posts.

A little about us.
We are a SAHM and 8 year old son from New England.
At home we enjoy an amazing variety of local food. Within a few miles we have Organic farms, pasture raised meats, artisan breads and cheeses and of course amazing seafood. For this reason we rarely go out to eat.
I guess you could say my standards are pretty high when it comes to having well prepared foods but I am not a food snob and enjoy a good burger and fry as much as anyone else.
My son has a pretty varied diet for an eight year old but enjoys "kid food" as much as any other kid.
I did take pictures of his food because I was interested in the offerings for kids at the TS restaurants and there wasn't much info available. As you will see there is an ok variety of meals with not a single chicken nugget making an appearance.

I hope this is helpful for others planning their trips!

I can't wait to read your reviews! Which restaurants did you eat at?

Restaurants we visited-

Day 1
California Grill

Day 2
Captain's Grille
Brown Derby
Les Chefs De France

Day3
Main St Bakery (snack)
Liberty Tree Tavern
California Grill

Day4
Kouzzina
Tutto Italia
Le Cellier

Day5
no Breakfast
Sanaa
Flying Fish

Day 6
Boardwalk bakery (no review just bagels)
Mama Melrose
Flying Fish

Day 7
No breakfast
50's primetime
Kouzzina

For snacks we got slushies at the boardwalk sweet shop as well as a few breakfast items throughout the week and a huge box of chocolates to bring home from the sweet shop.

Our Overall impression of the deluxe dining plan.

I guess firstly I would say if you are going to get a dining plan and like to sit down and be waited on, the deluxe plan is the way to go. Time and time again we found the appetizer portion of the meal to be more delicious and well prepared than the rest of the meal.
We also enjoyed the signature restaurants at dinner far more than the regular table service restaurants and they were totally worth the extra credit for us.
It was insanely hot (august (duh) and crowded when we went and we were enormously grateful to sit down in an air conditioned restaurant for an hour at lunch and relax despite not being exactly starving.

As for the amount of food- we mostly dined at signature restaurants in the evening. These places did not load up the plates like some of the other restaurants. I also found that by avoiding the massive starch piles on the plate, the meals were actually filling but not overly so. So my advice is to skip the potato, pasta, rice etc.

We used our snack credits mainly as breakfast fillers and a ton of take home treats. I was shocked by the variety and size of the chocolate selection at the seashore sweets shop. Word to the wise, SS does not open until 11:30 so unless your flight leaves in the evening be sure to visit the night before your trip home.

Ok on to the food. This post will likely be broken up over a few days as I have a ton of pictures to get through.

We rushed from plane to hotel to room to bus to the california grill for a 5:30 reservation.
All I can say is Ahhhhhhh! I dont know if it was a good way to start or not since they set the bar tremendously high fort he rest of our stay.
Our service was impeccable. Our table by the window had an amazing view.
And the food was excellent. On to the pictures

To start my son had a salad, it was a nice green salad and he ate every bit of it. I didnt take a picture because I was overwhelmed by this

The tuna three ways.

Tartare
caligrilltuna3waytataki-0068.jpg

Tataki

This was the most amazing dish I had all week and as you will notice immediately went back to the room and made another reservation for cali grill so I could order it again

Kids Pizza
caligrillkidpizza-0071.jpg

he loved it!

Alaskan Halibut . . . Chorizo and Fregola Salad, Baby Tomatoes, Broccolini, Tomato-Lemon Vinaigrette
caligrillalaskanhalibut-0072.jpg

This was very good but couldnt live up to the tuna! The flavors were very nice but the chorizo was diced not crumbled into the fregola (which I would call isreali couscous) which was sort of a weird texture element. The fish was cooked perfectly, lightly seasoned and delicious. The tomatoes tasted like tomatoes which is excellent and the broccolini was perfectly crisp tender as well.

caligrillkeylimecheesecake-0084.jpg

Key Lime Cheesecake
Toasted Meringue, Rum-roasted Pineapple,
Sweet Young Coconut and Criollo Chocolate Sauce

The rich sweet pineapple and the tart key lime contrasted perfectly with each other. The crust was a disappointment as was the crust on every other desert we had during our stay. I imagine a crust should be crusty or crispy. Every single crust we had was awful, soggy or stale or just plain smooshy.
That said the other elements of this dish were delightful. we are not big desert eaters so avoiding the crusts were not a huge deal for us.

Kids sundae
caligrillkidssundae-0082.jpg

Pretty standard but he enjoyed it.

Our service at the california grill was prompt and professional and warm. We went early and the restaurant had a laid back vibe whch was just what we needed after our traveling. We noticed a woman sprinkling micky confetti on other tables, when she saw us watching she came over and did the same for ours. We decided every day at disney was a special occasion ;)

California Grill looks amazing!! For my next trip I really need to do the deluxe plan so I can experience all the lovely signature restaurants at Disney.

Your photos are beautiful; looking forward to the rest of your reviews :)

We had breakfast the next day at the Captain's grille. I think they have a buffet there but I dont care for Buffets.
My son ordered the Mickey Waffles which I thought came with bacon but according to my pictures did not.
captainsgrillkidsbreakfast-0118.jpg

He enjoyed them.
I ordered coffee which came in a tableside carafe which I thought a nice touch. I also ordered the lobster omlet.
Butter-warmed Lobster, Asparagus,
Chive-infused Cream, and
Captain’s Potatoes

captainsgrilllobsteromlet-0114.jpg

This was completely full with perfectly cooked lobster, crisp tender asparagus and the tiniest bit of butter.
The chive cream was quite good, almost more of a creme fraiche richness. The potatoes tasted as though they had come from the buffet, not so good.
I had seen this dish before on the boards and it was loaded up with cheese which is a no no IMO so I was really delighted to see that was no longer the case. I left the potatoes and ate every last bit of this omlet.
captainsgrilllobsteromlet2-0119.jpg

The service here was standard and friendly if not a bit slow given there was hardly anyone there and most people were partaking in the buffet.

Wait I had to add- the garnish (watercress) on the plate was dressed with a light vinigrette which completely suprised me! Such a nice touch and the tart dressing and bitter cress were a fantastic pair with the rich lobster eggs and chive cream.

Thank you! The signature restaurants were fabulous! Our favorites being California grill and Flying Fish.

We had a late reservation for the brown derby which was good as breakfast was quite filling and also we walked in just as it was starting to downpour. This happened to us over and over again throughout the week. It was wonderful!

We sat down and started with
rolls and butter dusted with sea salt. This was standard at all the signitures. Accross the board the breads were excellent, fresh and warm except I would say flying fish, we didn't care for their newly added potato scallion bread.
brownderbyrolls-0138.jpg

brownderbybutterwithseasalt-0137.jpg

My son started with the veggies
brownderbykidsap-0140.jpg

I ordered the andouille encrusted prawn
brownderbyshrimp-0143-1.jpg

This was interesting. The flavor was good and the shrimp cooked perfectly. The crust was very crusty (unlike the pastry crusts) which was different...
This had a nice bed of grits under it. They had an excelelnt tartness from the cheddar that offset their richness. The problem was this dish was heavily salted. I love salt. I salt everything so this dish was still edible to me. If I was not a huge saltaholic I imagine this dish would border on inedible. This was a recurring theme at the BD. It also had no spice to it which was unfortunate. I see andouille and I would like a little bit of heat, this had none.

At this point I would like to say that our service was nowhere close to what we recieved at California grill. It seemed as soon as the waiter realised I would not be ordering wine (like the other tables surrounding us) he lost interest. The other tables received more attentive service.
I also asked for his recommendation for lunch (I always do this just to see what they say and decide whether or not I agree) He made a big deal about the filet and said it was "famous!" I asked him what it was famous for and he was rendered speechless. Than I felt like I had to order it since it was mysteriously "famous!" for something.
Charred Filet of Beef over a Brentwood Corn and Pancetta Risotto, Arugula Pesto, and Pickled Rainbow Carrots
brownderbyfilet-0148.jpg

Guess what! It was "famous!" for being unbelievably salty. The meat was perfectly cooked to my request however it was totally overseasoned. The risotto was unremarkable but the pesto was an delicious, spicy and unusual addition. The carrots were nothing more than a garnish.
My son got the kids fish sticks which was a tempura style batter.
brownderbybutterkidsfish-0146.jpg

He enjoyed the fish and ate it all, the fries were left behind so he was either full from two mickey waffles 5 hours before or they weren't that great.

on to desert
I ordered Citrus Honey Nest filled with Candied Ginger Blueberries over a Lemon Cheesecake
Mostly because I had no idea what a honey nest was
brownderbydesert-0153.jpg

It was gorgeous. And really awful. Now I will say that the gingered blueberries were spectacular, inspired! I ate them off the top. They had a true berry flavor unlike the gigantic sweet and tasteless berries the supermarket carries. The ginger addition was a suprising element and just fantastic. The rest was pretty disasterous but like I said desert is not really my thing and the bluberries were enough to satisfy me.
I dont know what my son had but the kid selections were pretty uninspired.

I wouldnt choose this restaurant again though mostly because our experience was so good at other signature restaurants, not because this one was bad. It was interesting and the chef that day could have just been heavy handed with the salt. The lunch service was lacking but that could have just been because it was lunch. At other signature dining my son was served in a real glass. Here we had a paper cup with plastic top.
This place is also pitch dark which I think would be nice as a cozy element but not really my thing.
They served a local grouper which would have normally been what I would have ordered but it was served with a cheese and watermellon salad (?!) which I thought was just bizarre so I didnt order it.

Your pictures are amazing! Great quality and composition. Flying Fish is one of our favorites too so I can't wait to read your review!

I'm in too! I'm not entirely sure which I am more interested in though... your reviews or your photographs! The photographs are spectacular! :goodvibes

Thank you All! So kind!

So as if we hadn't eaten enough we powered through and headed to France for dinner.
This place seems to be highly controversial and I now see why. In our experience the highs were very high and the lows...Gross.
So onward
When we got to france we were seated fairly quickly. many parties went ahead of us though I think it was more because they didn't have many tables for two open up. There was another two ahead of us and they waited as well.
Our service was excellent. And I guess I was staring at our (cute) waiter because he asked me if I understood what I was saying. Oops! I did understand him perfectly and actually understand a good bit of french so it was all good.
He told me that as far as he was concerned my son could order whatever he wanted to off of either menu. This was the only time we ran into this and it was a nice touch! Unfortunately my son wanted the 'kid food' so I missed out on the cheeseplate I wanted to share with him. We missed Remy which was kind of a bummer but didnt ruin it for us.
The atmosphere was really kind of neat. A busy busy busy bistro for sure. We were seated at the window near the path where the princesses sneak in and out so that was fun.

My son started with the cheese pastry
leschefskidsap-0159.jpg

He did not finish it but he did eat quite a bit.
I started with the escargot
leschefsescargot-0161.jpg

Now I didnt order this on a whim. I love escargot. I hate to say it but this was just gross. I cant say anything nice about this dish so I will just move on.

Son had the burger, i think they call it chopped steak on brioche.
leschefskidsburger-0171.jpg

He loved it and ate every single thing on this plate. Except the tomato. We're working on it.

I had the duck.
leschefsduck-0170.jpg

This was fantastic! I was so glad I had plenty of room to enjoy this. I went easy on the sweet potato but it was really sweet, creamy and delicious. Both versions of the duck were cooked nicely. I guess I didnt understand exactly what the brown gravy was doing there but the cherries!!! Oh my word. So rich and boozy. A fabulous partner for the duck which was tender and not at all gamey. I ate every last bite of the duck. Oh and the patty pan squash keep making an appearance but they were delicious as well!

By the time desert rolled around I could have cared less. I ordered the creme brulee which was cool and creamy but the crust was spotty
leschefscremebrulee-0175.jpg

son ordered some strawberry thing off the adult menu
leschefsstrawberrydesert-0174.jpg

Not his favorite but he enjoyed a few bites.

I would absolutely go back here. The service, the duck and the kids burger made up for the weak desert and appetizer without a doubt.
