We decided not to prebook "preferred seating" at any restaurant since we knew the parks would be busy and didn't want to be running on a time clock.
We arrived at Germany at Epcot and got right in - the kids enjoyed the meal as much as we did.
I should note we did 2 days at Epcot so the second trip DH wanted to eat at Canada and we did Le Cellier - no reservation and were seated within 3 minutes while a gentlemen also with a party of 5 and preferred seating had to sit and wait 15 minutes before he was seated. DH and I had the steak sandwich - it was delicious - DD1 had the Salmon 3 ways (actually an appetizer) and loved it - the little ones ordered off the kids menu and enjoyed it - but their highlight was the Smore's desert - I regret not taking a picture of it and their faces when they saw it. DD1 and I each ordered the chocolate cake and it was delicious - although I was full after 2 bites I somehow managed to force it all down.
At MGM we ate at the Hollywood Brown Derby for lunch - right at noon and were seated within 5 minutes. The food was as good as the service. I had steak and it was beautifully presented and delicious. DH had the Cobb Salad and loved it! I've since been instructed to find a way to chop up our future home salads like this.
At AK we had lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe - service was so slow - took 20 minutes just to get our drinks and the food was mediocher. I wasn't ready to write off the restaurant since it seemed to be highly confused in what was going on - so Sunday night we gave it a try at Downtown Disney for supper - we were seated within 20 minutes and it was extremely busy. Here the service was very good as was the food. I should note this was our first time to try this restaurant since there are none in our area - but the atmosphere is great for kids.
We ate several meals at AKL in Mara and one in Boma. At Boma they predicted a 45 minute to 1 hour wait and gave us a beeper. Within 30 minutes the beeper vibrated and we returned and were immediately seated. DH loved the Prime Rib and we tried bits of most everything there between the 5 of us. All 3 kids were happiest with the kids food though - and of course the desserts.
Slightly out of order but upon our arrival after check in we wandered the Lodge and stopped in the bar for some refreshments - I ordered a dessert sampler to surprise the kids and we all shared it.
