7-day Eastern dinner rotation question

I'm trying to determine what night we should do Palo's. I was all set on Thursday, but then I recalled reading in trip reports and posts in reference to recent cruises that Thursday night's rotation was now the Captain's Gala menu / lobster night. The info I was using for planning had Thursday as the Master Chef menu. Can someone please confirm this for me?

I believe this is the dinner rotation currently on the Eastern 7-day:
Saturday - casual dress, regular restaurant menu
Sunday - formal dress, Master Chef menu
Monday - casual dress, regular restaurant menu
Tuesday - tropical dress, Tropicalifragilisticexpialidocious menu
Wednesday - casual dress, regular restaurant menu
Thursday - semi-formal dress, Captain's Gala menu
Friday - casual dress, Small World menu

(Of course, by casual dress, I mean dress appropriate for the restaurant of the night.)

Also, are the Captain's Welcome party and Gala desserts buffet still on Sunday, or did either of those change nights too?

Unfortunately, we like to do it all, so like our last cruise, would like to get early Palo's reservations and then "double-dip" so that our DSs can still enjoy the planned restaurant and we can still enjoy the dinner time with them (even if we're too full to eat!) Plus, no one wants to miss any of the shows either! Thursday was looking like the best choice, since we could have done the Disney Dreams matinee and I wasn't crazy about the Master Chefs menu, but DH doesn't not want to miss lobster night. I think something's going to have to give, but now I'm not sure what.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I know that there are lots of you previous 7-day cruisers out there - can anyone help?

We have the same problem lol!, hate to miss any food ;) .

But looking at my notes (I am a first timer), I have Captain's Welcome on Sunday night and Gala Desserts on Monday at midnite. I too have Captains Gala as Thursday night. We think we may try for the earliest at Palo's on Friday night.

Hope some of the previous cruisers can help you more!

We went on Friday night. It was a great way to end the trip. Some on our cruise said first night was the easiest to get, but you probably want to meet waiters that night also any one else at your table.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Am I to understand by the previously posted dinner rotation list that the menu is the same regardless of the restaurant you are in (sorry for the corrupted grammer <G>)? By that I mean that whether I am in Lumiere's or any other restaurant on Tuesday, it is still Tropical night? Do all three restaurants do the same thing in unison each night?

Regarding the Palo's question, how early can you be seated for dinner? Is it really possible to "double-dip" as you suggest if you have the early seating?

thanks....

Paul

We just got back from the 7 night Eastern on 5/25 and the menus on Dave's website are still up to date (the ones you listed on your post are right). Thurs. nite is Lobster night/Captain Gala menu/semi formal. They use the left over lobster to make Lobster burgers on Castaway Cay on Friday. Sunday nite is Master chef (menus from WDW restaurants)/formal night.

Palo opens at 6pm. We did 6pm seating on our night in Animators Palate because that menu was least appealing to us (see Daves website)...then we went to our regular seating in Animator's Palate at 8:30 in order to see the light show...we did get an appetizer and just watched to show. We didn't care for the menu and we are glad we chose that night not to eat (the appetizer shrimp and lobster roll was great)...the light show was worth going to. Double dipping at Palo was easy for us because we had late seating. If you have early seating...I guess you can go to your 6:30 regular seating and then make Palo ressies for 8pm.

Sat night is casual...menu depends on which restaurant you are in.

Sun nite is Formal/Master chef menu...same in all restaurants.

Mon. nite -casual -depends on which restaurant you are in.

Tues nite is Tropical...same menu in all restaurants.

Wed nite depends on which restaurant you are in.

Thurs nite is Captains Gala menu/semi formal...same menu everywhere.

Fri night is It' A Small World...same menu everywhere. The waiters do a neat show on Fri night in all the restaurants and it is the last night of the cruise and everyone tips that night, so I wouldn't recommend missing that.

Your dinner rotation will be printed on Your Key to the World card you get when you check in at the port. The initials for the restaurants will be on the side of your card. Ours said...LAP, so we had Lumieres, Animators Palate, Parrot Cay rotation. That way you can decide which nite to do Palo on before you get on the ship. Check out Daves website for the nights they do the AP light show.

OK, I'm a novice.... what is Dave's website?

Thanks.... Paul

tlt, thanks for all the info and confirmation on the menus! My family has already looked them over and started planning what to order each night! It's much harder to figure out the best night for Palo's since our DSs want to eat in the restaurant each night and we would like to see the shows each night as well. I've have laid out the schedule for each possible rotation, and we'll figure out what works the best for us so that we are able to fit in as much as possible!

psimon - Sure it's possible to double-dip with early seating! If you look at the navigators (such as those on Dave's site), the hours Palo's is open each night is listed (top left corner of page 3 or 4 each day). I am guessing these are the hours that they take reservations, so if it says they close at 9 the last reservation they take is for 9pm (I'm not positive about this though). With early seating it would probably work best to make a reservation for 8pm or later. Just keep in mind that you would miss that evening's entertainment.

Of course, if you're really obsessed (as my brother and I were) you can look at each rotation, figure out which night in each rotation you would rather eat in Palo even before you check in, then when you get your KTTW card, you'll know what rotation you got and know exactly when you want to make your Palo reservations. You would be amazed at how many people got up to Palo and didn't have a date and time picked.

As for Palo, it is truly a dining experience!! We opted not to do the brunch but just dinner. We had the PLAPLAP rotation so we picked Wednesday for our night in Palo. Our server was Maurizio and he was fabulous!! For the appetizer I had the salad special and chose the Filet Mignon special. Dh had the Fish Soup (it was more like a Bouillabaise [sp?] and the Rack of Lamb. My brother had the Rack of Lamb, his dw had the Filet Mignon and Mom had the Rack of Lamb. Of course we all had the Chocolate Souffle and then Maurizio brought out the Tiramisu and the Cappucino Cheesecake. All were fabulous!! Palo is not to be missed!!

TootyJane - I am that obsessed and I have a spreadsheet with everything laid out for all three possible rotations! Unfortunately the information I was originally dealing with was outdated, thus the reason for my post.

This will be our second cruise, and we went to Palo's the first time so know it's not to be missed for us. DH had the lamb and I had the ravioli, and because I read about it here, we both had the chocolate souffle for dessert! I even took pictures of our plates for each course because the presentation was so nice!

I had the spread sheet in hand when we boarded - and each rotation planned as to the best night for PALO"S -- here's my suggestion - it worked great for us

1. Request - PLAPLAP

This puts you in Parrot Cay on Tuesday - Tropicali.....night --

2. Make your Palo's ressies for that night --
have Appitizer's with the kids in Parrot Cay -- then on to dinner at Palo's - there are no shows to miss - and you finish dinner just in time to dance all those choc souffle calories away at the Tropicalif..... sail-away dance party!

GOOD LUCK!! ENJOY!
