Hello,
i know I have read alot of posts about which area's to cruise on a seven day cruise. But I am going to ask as our family is looking to go on third cruise next summer but doing a seven day instead of a four day. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks JP

I selected the Western. The ports seemed more interesting to me. You can see actual Maya ruins. There is the Sting Ray excursion in Grand Cayman which is unique. See the southernmost point of the US (Key West). This is just my opinion though!!

I selected the West.

My DD (12) Liked it because you went to more "foreign" countries than eastern.

I liked it because I have done eastern on RCCL and think you get slightly warmer weather since you get further south (cozumel) and I'm travelling at Xmas.

IMHO

We picked the western although it was a tossup--my dad wanted to see St. Maarten, which I'd already seen, he'd already seen St. Thomas, my sister had seen Cozumel--but no one had seen Cayman or Key West. Plus timing was an issue--we want to go 4th of July week in 2004 so the kids miss less of their summer activities.

I like the Eastern. I enjoy my sea days, and the Eastern has 3 compared to only 2 on the Western. I also enjoy St Maarten. I don't think you can go wrong with either though.:D

Disney has added two ports to their itinerary for August - October time period on their Eastern, by eliminating the unpopular St. Marten's, they have added San Juan, Puerto Rico and Antigua.

That might help you make your decision, if either of those ports hold any interest!

We have done both and prefer the western. Although with the new ports we may have to look at another Eastern down the road.

thanks for the info and help. please keep sending me your thoughts. JP:Pinkbounc

We did the western last summer - absolutely loved it. The Tulum Mayan ruins tour was great (not for young kids though).

We are doing the eastern this year - just for something different. We think we will enjoy the extra day at sea. We've been to St. Thomas but have never been to St. Maarten. I was surprised to see it labeled unpopular, but, we'll see when we get there. I do want to go to the French side. With the new itinerary for next year we may do the eastern again - never been to San Juan or Antigua.

Part of it is just a matter of which week can you get away.

once again, thanks for your views and we will think about them. JP
