7 AM Extra Magic Hours? We're in!...NEW 12/27 p. 31

YAYYY! Tree of Life is definitely the coolest thing ever.

Omg I love the kangaroos. We have a certain kangaroo friend that we named Papa Kang. He's really special. We didn't get to see him last week though! :(

Cute character pics!

I didn't realize Dug & Russell were at the AK now! We met Russell at DHS, but Dug was off chasing squirrels ;) so we missed him.

I don't think I've ever seen the kangaroos, something else to be on the look out for :thumbsup2

I really like your Animal Kingdom shirt! :thumbsup2

Glad you guys had fun in Boston - I've only been up there once, but I'd love to go back and see more of it.

Your pictures make me want to go back to Animal Kingdom and spend more time looking at the animals! That seems like something we don't do enough of.

I think the Tree of Life is the 2nd best icon beside the Castle too! I could just stare and try to find all the animals on it. What a massive creation! To think that's it's man-made is just mind boggling.

I want to meet Russel and Dug! Shouldn't get my hopes up, they seem to be pulling a lot of characters.

What did you think of Restaurantosaurus? I have it on a maybe list for Nov.

Your character pictures turned out great!! Yay for meeting Dug and Russell!! They are too cute!!:goodvibes

I love exploring the trails around the Tree of Life. It's fun to try and pick out all the animals.

Kangaroos? Aww...I didn't know there were kangaroos at AK.:rolleyes1:

I'm another one that didn't know there were kangaroos, and here I thought I've explored everything. Yet another reason to go back :)

Glad you had fun in Boston!

Hi Sarah! Slowly easing myself back onto the DIS, mind if I join in?

EDIT: Just had to bounce back here to say how much I've loved catching up while listening to the MK entrance music loop! Yo ho, yo ho!!

EDIT et DEUX: Caught up! Your trip looks fabulous, love the come what may feel of it all. I think I caught a fast glimpse of the kangaroos on my last trip... are they by the exit path from the Tree of Life? I missed the Up characters when they were at DHS too. Love that they're back and hope to see them next month!

I love that you saw Dug! He is one of my very favorite Disney characters since he reminds me so much of our Riley :) Cute pictures!

It was very exciting meeting Dug. I love meeting the different characters!

Where are the Kangaroos?? I've never seen them at the Animal Kingdom.

You know the main garden area right in front of the Tree of Life? I'm pretty sure it's that area...we saw them from one of the paths as we were walking around the tree. They were kind of hiding in the shade.

haha, Papa Kang. That's awesome. Too bad you didn't get to see him. :(

Thanks!

Yeah, I think they started the meet and greets shortly before we got there? Aww, I love it when the characters aren't out because they're doing things like chasing squirrels. :rotfl: ;)

Enjoyed all your character pictures. :)

I had no idea there were kangaroos at AK!

Glad you enjoyed the character pics. :)

Wow, I'm surprised how many people didn't know about the kangaroos! I'm glad I have photographic evidence otherwise people might not believe me. LOL.

I really like your Animal Kingdom shirt! :thumbsup2

Oh, thank you! I got that shirt back in October when we were visiting Emma. I saw it in one of the stores and immediately had to have it. I love it too!

YES, you should spend some time at DAK looking at the animals. It is so much fun.

I think the Tree of Life is the 2nd best icon beside the Castle too! I could just stare and try to find all the animals on it. What a massive creation! To think that's it's man-made is just mind boggling.

What did you think of Restaurantosaurus? I have it on a maybe list for Nov.

I know, the animal carvings are amazing. I could stare at it all day.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that Dug and Russell stick around until your trip!

We liked Restaurantosaurus. It's just one of the typical quick service places so it works for us.

Your character pictures turned out great!! Yay for meeting Dug and Russell!! They are too cute!!:goodvibes

Thank you!

Me too...though I have no idea what some of the animals are.

Yup, they have kangaroos!

I'm another one that didn't know there were kangaroos, and here I thought I've explored everything. Yet another reason to go back :)

haha, that's right!

Hi Tracy! Of course you can join in! Welcome, and welcome back to the DIS. :)

Isn't that MK entrance loop great? I just ripped it the other day so I could put it on my ipod...:rolleyes1

Yes, the kangaroos are right around there. Hopefully the Up characters will be there for you guys!

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 cont'd (part 5)...Flowers, Food, and France

After a fun morning at the Animal Kingdom, we headed back to the Boardwalk for a bit.
100_8567.jpg

Remember how I said on our way out of DAK we stopped in one of the gift shops to pick up a little gift for Mom? She really likes that Chip and Dale snack mix so we got her a bag of that. Well, shortly after we get off the bus and are walking toward the Boardwalk lobby, Dad realized he left the bag on the bus! Some lady overheard us and said to talk to someone at the front desk because they could call lost and found and try to track it down. It sounds sort of silly because it was just the snack mix but we stopped by the front desk to see if we could somehow find it.

Random BW lobby shot...

I hung around for a bit but then ended up going back to our room where I went out onto our balcony to soak in that amazing view again. LOVE IT.

(OK, not from the balcony but on the way back to the room)

Can I please go back here now?! (as a side note, my parents and sister will be going back to the Boardwalk in March…the joys of DVC having online booking now…Dad checked the website and saw they had BW view studios available so lucky for them they get to go. Before long it’ll be 7 months until April, when I am hoping to go and stay at Bay Lake Tower…keep your fingers crossed! Sorry for that random bit. LOL).

When Dad got back to the room, he told me they ended up giving him a merchandise credit to repurchase the snack mix at one of the Boardwalk shops. So even if you lose something as small as a bag of food Disney will still try to fix it. Gotta love that service.

The plan for the evening was to go to Epcot since we had an ADR at Via Napoli. But before we did that, we went over to the Dance Hall for a very special event. On select Wednesdays (I think it used to be every Wednesday but that’s since been changed), Disney Vacation Club hosts something called Welcome Home Wednesdays for members. And since we were staying at the Boardwalk, it was certainly convenient to get to this trip!

When we got there, we were given an enter to win form (they do a few drawings throughout the event), a voucher for snacks, and a DVC button. For those of you not familiar with Welcome Home Wednesdays, it’s basically a members-only gathering. The main part of it is a little trivia game where they choose 4 people to play (though in this case I think it was 5 because when they picked the last person, there was some confusion as to who was really chosen so two people went up!) and they ask various trivia questions relating to DVC. It’s hosted by Miss DeeVee Cee, who can be really funny but after a while it gets really old. If only I had a video clip of her…I mean, I love Disney and DVC as much as the next person but I can only take so much shrieking laughter and over-the-top perkiness! LOL.

Anyway, at one point during the trivia game Miss DeeVee Cee told a joke: What do you call Chewbacca molding clay?

Any guesses?

Maybe I should take people’s guesses and post the answer in the next update. But seeing as it’s taking me forever to update this TR, that would be mean. Plus, the answer was pretty funny (atleast I thought it was. So…what DO you call Chewbacca molding clay? A “Hairy” Potter! HAHAHAHA. I posted it in white, so just go ahead and highlight for the answer in case you really did want to guess. Pretty good, huh? Of course I had to text that one to my sisters since I knew they’d get a kick out of it.

WHW was fun but sadly neither of us won any of the raffles. But we didn’t walk away empty handed! As you leave, they always give everyone a DVC baseball hat so we got a new one of those.

My DVC freebies:

The button says "Member since 2006." I have to be honest, I'm not really a fan of the new DVC logo. I like the old one better. Oh well.

Later on, we walked over to Epcot for our ADR. We pretty much just hung around in World Showcase, admiring the Flower and Garden Festival displays.

We also went in the Duffy store and I took a picture of all these Duffies since Emma became obsessed with him on her CP. LOL.
100_8578.jpg

Some of the outfits they have for him are pretty cute...one of these days I have a feeling I'm going to break down and buy myself a Duffy. So far I've resisted though!

Dad also suggested watching the Chinese acrobats. He had seen them once on another trip, but I had never seen them before. And since it was something new and different, I agreed.

Love the panda topiaries!
100_8579.jpg

Once the show started, it did not disappoint. Those acrobats were amazing!

If you’ve never seen these guys before, you should! It was a great show. I really need to start paying more attention to the WS entertainment on future trips.

After the show we walked over toward Italy to check in for our dinner. I was looking forward to eating at Via Napoli again since Claire and I really enjoyed it last year. It didn’t take too long until we were taken to our table, which was kind of on the side so we had a nice view of the area outside/in front of the restaurant and pavilion. I knew I wanted to get pizza again (their pizza is really good!) but instead of the margherita I got sausage and pepperoni, along with a blood orange fresco to drink. Dad got some sort of pasta. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures but as expected we both really enjoyed our meal. You really can’t go wrong with Italian food.

When we were done with our dinner we continued to stroll around WS since it was such a perfect evening. The only other attraction we did was Impressions de France.
100_8589.jpg

I got a few more pictures of some of the flowers before heading into the theater:

And a couple more from wandering around after Impressions de France. These are back near Italy. We stopped at one of the F&GF merchandise stands and ended up ordering a Minnie garden gnome for Mom!

We thought about staying for Illuminations but ended up going back to our room. We had a surprise encounter though on the way back to the Boardwalk. As we’re walking back, we pass this one family. Dad was wearing a Brewers t-shirt, so this guy says, “Go Brewers!” We both smile and realize those people were obviously from Wisconsin too. But I wasn’t paying close attention because right after that, I heard someone saying to me, “Sarah, what are you doing here?!” So I look to see who it was and it turned out to be one of the other teachers from the school I worked at! Small world. So we chatted for a while and she introduced her kids and husband. It was so crazy running into each other since neither of us knew we were both going to be there.

For the rest of the night, we just relaxed because we had another busy, exciting day to look forward to!

Up next: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM TOUR!!!!!!

So nice that they gave your dad a merchandise credit to replace the snack mix! I lost a bag of merchandise last trip, I either left it next to a bench in DTD or on the bus. It was actually a day or two before I realized that it was missing. I checked with lost & found and guest services in DTD but it was never turned in :sad1:

Your pictures from the Chinese acrobat show are great! It's changed in the last couple of years hasn't it? The one I saw a few years ago was all kids. I need to check it out again!

Ahhh, I remember that Boardwalk view! I'd love to have that view right now, myself!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your Bay Lake Tower stay - you'll love it!

I'm not a big fan of the new DVC logo either, but I do like that baseball cap! I went to a Members event while we were on the Dream in May, but the caps we got there are not the same. I think they're white, but I'd have to check to be sure. I know they have the new logo though. The other with the mountains and Mickey-sun was cuter!

Great update. Love all the F & G decorations. Some of them I didn't see when I was there.

The BW lobby is beautiful. I'm quickly realizing I need to try them all.

I can't get over how pretty the Boardwalk is, I want to stay there so bad! I love looking at pictures of it (:

The Chinese acrobats look so cool, I've never seen them before!

The Boardwalk is incredible! It's really been high on my list lately! (But I won't lie... basically all of the resorts are.)

The Chinese acrobats look cool! I had no idea they had a show with a dragon, it looks like fun!

It's a small world!!! The song doesn't lie! That's too weird that you saw someone you actually knew!

Now... GET ON WITH KTTK!!!! :lmao:

Your Boardwalk pics are so beautiful, I absolutely need to stay there someday! I've been so obsessed with BLT/Contemporary lately that I've been neglecting my other dream resorts, like the Poly and the Boardwalk! :rotfl:

I love Via Napoli everything is always so good there!

OMG I can't believe you ran into one of your co-workers! Small world! :cool1:

That was nice how you got a merchandise credit for your snack mix. Gotta love that Disney customer service!

It's been several years since I watched the acrobats in China, but they are amazing!

Love all the pictures of the Boardwalk!! So pretty!:goodvibes

Too funny on the Chewbacca joke!:rotfl:

Aww...the Lady and the Tramp topiaries are my favorite!:lovestruc

So cool that you saw someone you knew!! I guess it is a small world!:thumbsup2
