Is my best option to get 3 rooms or are there options that are a good value that will hold us all? 4 are senior citizens. One requires an ECV. Thanks for the ideas!

Cheapest would be 3 rooms at a Value Resort. Best option that would give the most space to spread out would be a 3BR Grand Villa. Are you looking for budget or convenience?

Maybe somewhere in the middle? But leaning toward budget. As a kid, we always stayed moderate.

A two bedroom DVC villa would have fixed bedding for six people (king in one bedroom, two queens in the other) and convertible bedding in the living room for two more.

9/15-9/18, a 2 bedroom villa at Old Key West is $556 per night plus tax. A room at Pop Century is $177 x three rooms is $541plus - so, minimal difference. Pop advantage is three separate bathrooms, six real beds. OKW advantage is you will absolutely, positively all be together, and as the computer DVC it's got the most space. Disadvantage is, no elevator except ,in the three newest building.

I htink OKW is a wonderful option for a group of 7. WE had our crew in a 2 bdrm and it was plenty of space and sleep surfaces for everyone.

Before you decide on a resort, you might want to decide how you want to enjoy that resort. We had mixed reviews on OKW based on how some of us use a resort. Some of us are food court lovers and rely on the food court for anything from a breakfast to snacks throughout the day, and OKW is not set up for that. Others in my group loved the home away from home aspect, and used all of the kitchen and living amenities. The resort itself is gorgeous and IMO the most relaxing setting imaginable. It just is not going to be the same as any value or moderate resort in terms of food, etc.

When traveling with a big group, space and privacy come into mix ranking when planning... to much together time is not good, I would go for a mod room... more space and with a ECV someone will need the extra room... as well with a child ( stroller space)... having somewhere for them to settle down, and decompress at the end of the day... is important.

With budget in mind, I would choose 3 moderate rooms at CBR. It is sprawling but it will have gondola access to HS and Epcot. Avoiding the buses with an ECV and stroller would be nice.

I don't see signatures, so this information may be there but - I also don't see the child's age or stroller need mentioned? :confused3

I couldn't get actual price for the (randomly-chosen) dates above, but the Disney World website indicated an average of $306 per night. Even two rooms would cost more than OKW/SSR or three rooms in a value; plus you're at two bathrooms for seven adults.

With a 2BR at SSR or OKW, someone is sleeping on a pullout sofa in the living room. No privacy for that person or persons and only 2 bathrooms for 7 adults. With 3 separate hotel rooms, everyone gets a real bed and there will be 3 baths. OKW villas are also not ground level and most of the buildings do not have elevators. That could present a problem for the person with the ECV.

Personally, I would go with 3 rooms at CBR because of the gondolas. POP is also an option for the same reason. If the person with the ECV is sharing a bed with another adult and they are the only 2 in the room, an ECV can be parked where the 2nd bed/table is. And while a ground floor room is possible, there are also elevators if they are assigned to an upper floor.

If you are taking two sets of grandparents, the parents of the child and the child then I would absolutely and without a doubt get three rooms. Otherwise chaos and unhappiness could be the result. I am a grandma and I need my space. :) and grandpas can be grumpy. :)

My daughter is 3, but will probably be 4 or maybe even 5 when we go.

Haha this makes sense...
It is one set of grandparents, aunt/uncle/cousin and us 3. We have previously vacationed in one house, but I definitely understand! Mamas get grumpy too lol.

Thank you! Yes, my mom definitely needs a ground level room!

Thank you Definitely didn’t think of gondolas or where to keep ECV. It’s been 7 years since our last DW vacation!

I was just putting it out there, as if they have a need for a stroller that they might would need to need to take that into consideration... just a little extra info... :thumbsup2

Okay, thanks. I thought i indicated most of the positives and negatives in a previous post.

Three Modreate rooms is the least budget-friendly option, at almost 70% more expensive than Pop, OKW, or SSR (which, yes, I realize I didn't mention that rate above; it's $552 vs OKW's $556).

You know your own dynamics. In my family we are fine with sharing space, and the 2 bdrm worked well for us. My DGD was original in the pull out sofa in the living room, and my two nieces shared the 2nd bdrm with DD and DSIl. That did not work out and I found all three girls in the living room. For most of my family there is no need for a whole lot of privacy on vaca so we always go with the best space for our overall budget. If my DS and DDIl were with us, they will get their own room, no matter how much space we have, and that works best for the entire family.

No matter what you decide, make sure that you all are comfortable with the logistics of traveling together. The best way to hurt family relationships is to travel together and not have a clear understanding of the group expectations. The rooms are only a small part of extended family travel, but offer the best or worst relief from each other.
