I just realize that with my oldest starting school this year that it will be the first time in many years that we not take a vacation to WDW and DVC at least every 3-5 months. We are pulling her out of school in October, but I don't think that we should pull her out in the spring. That means no vacations from Oct-mid June! I know that I am spoiled, whatever will I do?!

I need some sympathy please! How do you cope?!

Not a feasible suggestion for you, I am sure, but we put our son in year-round school in third grade and he had breaks every 9 weeks.

LOL!! Poor, poor you! I know how you feel though. I'm a vacation junkie, and if I don't have a trip planned (even if it's a little one) every few months I freak out! Good luck with your decision... .

We are in the opposite position, FINALLY:jumping2: ! Our youngest will be starting college in August! No more, premium air fares, busiest time in the parts, etc. :goodvibes

ddave-Some days I am looking forward to those days, but the whole starting kindergarten thing is depressing me. I don't know how I am going to deal with college!

They do grow up quickly!

Go over the school calendar very carefully, maybe there are some unexpected teachers days, or obscure holidays that lend themselves to a quick trip! I hope so!!

Just agreeing with Bobbiwoz. Our kids get a break for Mardi Gras in Feb. and this year(school year) our Spring Break is in March which doesn't correspond with Easter. We went over our Mardi Gras break in Feb. and it was a great time. My daughter missed 3 days of school because they had Mon. and Tues. off for Mardi Gras. My middle daughter will start Kindergarten in August, so I'll have a 4th grader and Kindergartener. We are going to take them out the last week of Sept. for the 7 day cruise. This will probably be the last time that we take DD9 out of school for a week (DH says that I said that the last 2 times that we took her out! ;) ) But if you study your school calendar closely you can probably find some times that your kids have off , that aren't national holidays. Best of luck with your vacation planning and sending the little one off to Kindergarten. I'll be crying right along with you!

Well, you will be poor. :confused3 Since this our youngest, it's going to be strange. Good thing you have DVC, at least your Lodging is covered! With air fairs like $79 it makes it a LOT easier to get a way. :thewave:

Our kids get lots more breaks as they are moving to "year round" schooling.

Check your school calendar and see if you can sneak in a trip here or there with minimal missed school.
