How is the 7:30 AM Train tour at MK ?
We will have tweens DS & DD. We thought they might enjoy it.
Also a way to get into MK on an non early entry day.

What do they show you on the tour ?
Anything special given out or characters seen ?
Do you get to ride the trains ?
Did you enjoy the tour ?

Thanks

Deb in IA's family and ourselves are going to be doing the Magic of the Steam Train tour on Saturday, June 4th.

We'll bring back a fresh update and photos of our time!

This is an awesome Behind the scenes tour. Especially if you like trains. Everyone will meet in front of the Turnstiles at MK. The train will come in and they tour guide will give it clearance to depart the station, at that time the train will do what is called a "Deadhead" around the park (meaning they will take an empty run to make sure there are no obstructions on the track). While they are out doing that the tour guide will bring you in to the park and start telling you the back history about Walt and his infatuation with trains, the significance that Main Street has to the train station and some childhood history from Walt's family. When the train returns to the station they will bring you up and you will board the train. On your ride around the park they will tell you about the history of the Disney trains (where they came from) and some information about the stations and the track. When you arrive at Toon Town they will take you down the Spur line and back to the Roundhouse. *You can't go into the Roundhouse" so they will back the train into the building and tell you about the Roundhouse itself and then pull back out into the yard. Once the train is in the Yard you will be able to get off and they will have one of the other trains out for you to climb up into the cab of the locomotive where they will tell you about the train itself and what it takes for the crew to run it. You will watch the morning crew get the train ready for the day (watching them fire it up as well as do some of the safety checks). Then you will ride back out into the park on the train and head back to Main street. There is a short break (water, coffee and restrooms avalaible). Then they will tell you how the Disney trains were found and a little more history into Walt's passion. At the end of the tour you will receive a "Train tour exclusive Pin". It runs from about 7:30 (they ask you to be there by 7:15am) until about 10-10:30am (unless Jim is your tour guide and then you can stay all afternoon if you like, he will talk to you for hours ;) ).

The MK buses from resorts start running around 6:45am but they are not the most reliable for the train tour. They will tell you to drive yourself and park at the Contemporary or get a Taxi to the Contemporary to make sure you are on time. You will be escorted into the park by the tour guide (you meet outside the turnstiles...but you will need park admission to enter for the tour). Also when you book this tour they will tell you no camera's... That is a generic tour rule, this tour DOES allow cameras and will actually have spots along the way to get some great photos (they do not allow photos at the Roundhouse as it is a backstage area, but in the park they will let you right up next to the locomotive for some great shots)...

Hope that helps :)
