Hello All,

My family and I will be cruising on July 27th with you all. I am a first timer and just booked our trip on Monday(yesterday). Does any expierenced cruiser have tips that will make our first cruise even more awesome or sites/threads I should visit. Also my DD will celebrate her birthday on the 30th is there anything sepcial they do? Thanks for all who help.

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Welcome aboard. My DS will be celebrating his 10th birthday on the 30th. My DD is jealous. Her birthday is in May and we can't do any fun vacations then because of school.

Carol, maybe you can celebrate a late birthday for her on the Wonder. You can have DCL have a cake & button for her on a different day then your son. Just a thought:)

We celebrated my sister's early birthday on our last Feb. cruise (her bithday is April 1st) and the dineing team was fine with it...was a nice time.

How cool is that, celebrating on the same day. She will be nine, not sure I mentioned that, just a year difference between the two. Have you guys made any special plans other then notifing the cruise? We are from Texas too another thing in common:banana:

For the rest of everyone. How much does it cost for Palo?

Jennifer

Palo is 15.00 a person but is soooo worth it:) My DH & I are having dinner there but skipping brunch this time around.

Where in Texas are you from? we almost moved to Austin but my husband didn't end up getting the work transfer. We even went house hunting and I was so floored at what we could have bought in Texas versus here in San Diego.:faint:

We are Rockwall County which is about 20 min outside Dallas, Tx. Thanks for the info on Palo, I will have to see if I can get us booked.

There seemed to still be quite a few more opening for Palo dinner on DCL website. They also seem to save reservations for when you board the ship...go straight to Diversions to snag a ressie. I would also recommend the brunch, if you have time. It is so great!!

I want to thank you guys for the great input you have given me so far. I do have a few question that I haven't thought about asking until now and probably a few others will come at a later time.

1. What are the included drink options on board i.e. tea, water, any soft drinks, etc.?

2. How does gratuity/tipping work?

3. How long does it take to get your packet from the cruise ship and what is included. We just booked last Monday?

4. Attire for dinner, what to wear and not to wear?

I think that is it for now. Thanks in advance for your answers

Looking forward to cruising,
Jennifer:yay:

1. What are the included drink options on board i.e. tea, water, any soft drinks, etc.? there is a 24 hour self-serve drink station on top deck next to Mickey pool -includes all Coca-Cola brand soft drinks, tea, milk, coffee...also soft drinks in dining room are also "free" only charge for soft drinks is at the bar or from room service. There are also all kinds of juices at breakfast

2. How does gratuity/tipping work? you can go to w w w disney cruiser dot com for a gratuity guide :D
3. How long does it take to get your packet from the cruise ship and what is included. We just booked last Monday? Usually about two to three weeks before cruise...not too much included in it now and days

4. Attire for dinner, what to wear and not to wear? The 3/4 day cruises are MUCH more casual then 7 day cruises. Nice shirt, summer dress, capri's, blouse, etc. Only Palo is a little more "dressy" .

I think that is it for now. Thanks in advance for your answers

Hope this helps, Jennifer!! great questions! one more tip would be to bring a pilow case, photo matt, canvas bag, for the characters to sign. You can leave it at Guest Services and they will deliver it to you stateroom on the last night...this is free and a great free keepsake:) I have some cute 5X7 photo matts with Mickey and characters signatures from my last cruise.

Yes, one week til school's out and then cruise prep!!!:moped:

Yay!! My DD is all done with finals and my DS will graduate from Kinder on Thursday!! I am so excited to have the kids home...hmmm, ask we after a few weeks if I still feel the same way;) :faint: :rotfl:

School was out last Thursday here in Houston. DS has football camp this week, church camp (sleepaway) next week, two weeks at home, another week of football camp, and then he will be in Floriday with My Family for two weeks prior to the cruise! have to keep him busy! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I have my stash of "cruise" goodies in an empty dresser drawer..it is starting to overflow!

For those of you interested in participating in Fish Extenders... I don't mind collecting names and room numbers, if you would like to PM me, I can consolidate into one list and then send back out - I can post it here or via PM if you don't want it out here in the public space. You guys let me know.

Have a happy week.

Leslie
