Managed to wake up at 6:15 am w/no alarm this morning. I guess the idea of a cabana woke me up! I grabbed the clothes I had put out the night before and got dressed....no reason to wake the whole room. I walked down to the gym to rent a cabana only to find a note "Cleaning restrooms, be back shortly" So I planted myself right there and waited about 15 min. for the attendant to return. Surprise! There are 2 cabanas available for the day #1 & #2 . I chose #1 only because I thought an end one would be better? Turns out it had the jacuzzi in front of it also! It was $85 full/$45 half day. I asked about Loew's Club and he said "Oh! Then it's only $40 for the whole day" Ha! I was originally only going to rent for half day...wow! He asked what kind of drinks to stock in it. Concerned that we wanted it immediately he said that the fruit basket had to be made up and wouldn't be ready yet. I said "My family's not ready yet either, they're still asleep!" Proud of my accomplishment I went back up to the club room and grabbed a cup of coffee. Knowing everyone will still be asleep back in the room, I head downstairs to walk around.....Funny, the legs are still tired from 4 days of walking, my chest still hurts, but I can't resist walking around this beautiful resort, admiring all the little statues, plants, flowers.....paradise..
The family was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get a cabana. As we headed out to the pool area I noticed a sign on #1 cabana. As we neared it I realize it has "Reserved for....." with our name. The stocked refrigerator, t.v., etc. is a big hit with all. Before long someone from Bula came by, introduced herself, and said she would be getting us anything we needed during the day. I asked about the fruit basket and she made it appear in about 5 min. The cabana was a wonderful experience. It was great to be outside but out of the sun. We ordered lunch. The smoothies there are really good. DS14 regained energy midday and asked to go over to the parks for a while to ride MIB (his favorite since the first ride!) He was back right before the afternoon storms hit. The cabana isn't a lot of fun when it starts getting windy so we headed up to the room. We decided to go to the parks but got back in time to enjoy the rest of our cabana day. By this time, a Scholastic Bookfair Convention had checked in for 4 day mtg. There were about 10 of them in the jacuzzi plus my ds14. He heard them making comments about "wasting $ on a cabana with t.v....should just stay in your room" He told DS17 and I in the cabana......sooooo, we shut that side of the cabana and opened the backside so they couldn't watch the t.v. from the jacuzzi like they had been ; ) I saved the sign as a momento of our fun day. Thanks for the Loew's membeship suggestion, it really helped on this one!
***SEA WORLD--slept in a little this day, then took a taxi to SW. They had some good shows at SW. We got to the Clyde and Seymore show early enough to see the preshow thanks to suggestions on these boards. What a riot! But I wouldn't want to be one of the last people in ; ) The corny jokes are funny because they have been updated to match current events. The Shamu show was great. We sat up at the very top row because there is a nice breeze that comes through. You can also buy food to take in with you which is what we did for a quick lunch. Funny, all the warnings about the 1st 14 rows being the splash zone. We saw just as many people making a run TO that section during the show. I liked how everything was shown on the big screen as it happened. We also saw the Pets Ahoy! show and enjoyed it. There are a lot of animals in the show that act alone with a storyline. We enjoyed this show much better than the Animal Planet show at Universal because it was a longer show and had more animals. We ate lunch at Seashore Cafe (?) Food here is set up just like Discovery Cove. The only difference is that you have to pay for each individual thing. Our total was around $60 for 4 of us. The only problem we found here was empty tables not being cleared for those waiting to sit. Then one of the bussers came out and yelled at some people for putting two tables together to have enough room. We left when they started yelling at each other in Spanish. After lunch we saw the dolphin maternity pool--5 expectant. Also the coral reef exhibit--after a day at DC this didn't seem like much to us but it was nice display of fish aquariums. The Penquin Encounter was a lot of fun. We stood back for some time just watching them swim and waddle around. Then we got on the moving sidewalk and went right past them. The Arctic Wilderness ride has 2 lines, one for motion seats and another for non-motion movie. DS14 and I opted for the non-motion, DS17 and DH got in the other line. Supposedly, you can separate and still meet up with your party before the animal exhibits.....unless the motion side breaks down, which is what it did. DS14 and I waited, and waited. Finally we thought we had come out of the movie AFTER them and walked through the exhibits trying to find them. Still no sign of them so we entered the gift shop at the end.....and waited. Finally! DH and DS17 walked through the door. It took almost 25 min. for us to meet up! We walked around the park some more and then decided to head back to RPR. It seemed like a lot of people were getting turned around in this park, including us. There were people all over the park with guide maps out. You'd see two people looking at the map and pointing in two different directions. Does SW's layout seem confusing to anyone else?
