It's hard to remember exactly when we did what during the week so I'm just going to give a rundown of meals, etc. If you have any questions let me know.
US- we saw many CHARACTERS: every day we were in the park. (Woody & Winnie, Shrek and co., Hulk, Spiderman doing his "spidey" walk was great. It's a shame our kids were too old to enjoy this. We caught Lucy and Desi singing in front of Mel's Diner...drums and everything. Blues Brothers show was great....get there early to stake out a place because once the intro music starts, the street fills up really fast. Animal Planet was a little on the smelly side and not very long. Beetle Juice was ok if you like a lot of singing. RIDES: Spiderman in 3-D was really great. Motion got to DS14 a little. 3-D effects are the best! E.T.-enjoyed this because I liked the movie. DS17 liked flying over the nighttime city. MIB--highest scor in family was DS17 with 413,000. DS14 rode this so many times while the rest of us did other things that the attendant told him just to wait in the babyswap area (she had clocked him, he was passing her in under 10 min. between rides.) Shrek-- this was pretty neat with the 4-D effects....especially the donkey ; ) the preshow to this one is pretty good. Jimmy Neutron- enjoyed this even though our kids are older. Jaws- old, but still should be seen....DS14 jumped at a loud noise and accidently punched me in the nose during this one! lol Earthquake--ok , Twister--we were in the front row. The only place we actually sat down to eat here was Louie's Italian Restaurant. I had lasagna--so,so. Kids and dh had pizza which they raved about enough to cause us to eat there a 2nd time...pizza for all. DS14 kept his eyes peeled for the DipnDots cart that had Straw.van.choc. There were many, but only one he saw the first night carried that flavor, and it proved to be elusive through most of our trip. There is a neat shop in US that can take a photo of your family and lazer engrave it into a keepsake. There are different size/$$ 's to choose from. We were going to do this, but then realized our daughter was at home watching the house : (
City Walk-- Margarittaville, ate lunch here on Friday. Turns out that they were dedicating Jimmy Buffet's plane that night and were doing a news segment on it. DS14 was on ch.6 news that night because he was in a conga line through the restaurant. He didn't know that's what was going to happen....the waitress just came and asked if he wanted to be on t.v. Next thing we knew, here he comes in a line of kids with camera men all around them parading through the restaurant! We also ate at NBA and Nascar.
IOA-- already gave a descript. prev. but FYI, if you lose something on a ride or in the park, remember what day you lost it. The lost & found keeps things catergorized by day. Never did locate my son's hat even after the guy check under 2 different days....and some woman had lost a shoe so they brought one out........nope, "but it's the only shoe turned in that day" lol
RPR- the only meals we had at the resort were at Islands. The breakfast buffet was really good. Even had salmon on it. We also at dinner there on our last night. I had Chicken with Macadamia nuts.....great! even ate with the chopsticks that came with it!! DS17 had a shrimp cocktail (presentation is awesome on this!) followed by filet mignon--great. DS14 got the children's buffet because he's not really an exotic when it comes to food. He was pleased with chicken fingers, mac& ch., salad, etc. DH had a turkey club. The two of us also split a volcano drink. It has another long name like betchwannadrinkathis but I don't recall exactly. Anyway, it's served in this HUGE container with a real flame in the middle of it. This was our splurge meal and we really enjoyed it. There were hula girls dancing while a ukelele played. They were getting kids up at their tables to hula.
Really a fun evening.
That's about it. Of all the friendly people around RPR, there's one that stands out. His name was Kawelo and he was the supervisor up in the Club Room. As my kids said "he's cool, he hooked us up with cookies!" Kids overheard him say he liked red licorice so they bought some in the park and took it to him. He was so excited that they thought of him! We ended up taking a picture of him with our sons. Here's an idea: how about anyone on these boards who stays in Club Level take Kawelo some red licorice!! HAHA! we could start a tradition of sorts! Just say something like "I heard you like red licorice" lol
I'd just like to thank everyone on these boards for all of the information that helped to make this vacation the most fun, most successful one our family has ever had. I really felt kind of sad when it was time to leave. Now I have to be content to look at all the pictures I took, the video, and souveniers! If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks again all!
