I don't think they're up yet.:confused3 I'm having one of those insomniac nights.........:rolleyes1

I'm waiting for clothes to dry so I can put more in the dryer, so watching Private Practice online.

Ok, I give up, I have two conferences tomorrow........night to all!:cloud9:

Morning all those Ballyhooers !!!! who should be in bed by now :cloud9: :cloud9:

Good Morning Izzi! Would you mind taking the clothes out of my dryer when they are done and then putting the ones from the washer in? I need to go to bed so I can get up in 5 hours.

For you my dear , no problem

I had no clue my very early 'Morning to all would cause such a conversation when most should have been in bed. :confused3 :cloud9: :lmao:

I first wanted to thank everyone for posting information. I had seen in the past information on transfer options, not DCL, from London to Dover but I can't find it and it wasn't listed on page 1

Can anyone list those otions again if you don't mind?

Train, coach or private transfers.

Easiest place to catch the train or coach is Victoria Station, but there are a couple of other connection options in the city. There are many private transfers available but can be outrageous due to the distance, about 2 hours.
Last summer we used the National Express Coach and it was around $60 for the 3 of us one way. Had I booked it sooner it would have been cheaper. Will definately book it at 12 weeks out for this cruise.

I've found some links for transfers:

Maybe you should PM Julie to put these links on the front page (if they're not already there) or else wait just a little while as I offered to start "thread 3" which looks like it's nearly upon us and I'll add them in then.:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone!

We just booked this cruise today - had orginally booked the 11 night Holiday sailing in 2010 but we had such a fantastic time in 2007 on the DCL Med cruise we decided to switch to the 2010 Baltic cruise instead

There will be 4 of us - me, DH, DD (14 at time of sailing) and DS (12 at time of sailing).

While I was on the phone with DCL today I asked for a quote for a 3 night pre-cruise stay in London and she quoted me $3,420 for our family - I thought that seemed REALLY high for 3 nights :scared1: So for anyone that is planning on pre-cruise nights in England - are you going through DCL or are you booking on your own?

Thanks!

Michele
Welcome aboard:cheer2: :cheer2:
Glad you asked about pre-cruise stays in London as my family is going to do that as well. We'll probably fly in 2 days before the cruise leaving one day for jet lag and one day for exploring London. With only one day in London we want a hotel that is close to a lot of tourist sites too.

:welcome: Michele

Unless DCL was putting me up at Buckingham Palace there's no way in the world I would book thru them at that price. :scared1: This past summer we stayed 1 night at the Park Place London Victoria across from Victoria Station and loved the hotel and the location, that's where we'll stay precruise again. I think our rate this past summer was 117 GBP/night and that included VAT. We will then go by coach to the port from Victoria Coach station, about 3 blocks from the hotel.
Right now we have no clue how far ahead we will arrive. I'm thinking DD & I may go a few days early and visit some friends up north and then we'll head back down to London to meet up with DH and my brother and his family. Just haven't approached DH on that subject yet. :scared:

Was that rate for the Park Place for 2 people or more ? I remember reading that some rooms only accomodate 2 people so the rates can be deceiving if you're looking for a room for 4.

When do the hotels start taking bookings for July 2010, this summer ?

Let's try to confirm the date quickly in case anyone wants to fly in.....comments?:surfweb:

Honestly, the next Sat. Feb 28th is better for us. The airfare might be cheaper then as well as the 21st is within Feb. school break here and rates that week are awful.

Just my 2 cents.

I must "come out" and confess ......... My name is Isabel and I've just been pricing up flights from London to New York so that I can go and play with my DIS friends when I KNOW I can't afford it :scared1: :guilty: :guilty: :sad2: :rolleyes1

I'm still sitting laughing with tears since it would be a blast if you popped over for a quick weekend.
To save you money we'll take turns putting you up for a night if you don't mind traveling along the coast from DE up to NY or even Boston if Robert if willing to put you up for a night. :lmao: Wow, I've just volunteered everyone in this area to house Izzi, including Mike and Robert. :dance3:

Glad to be volunteered!!!!! Izzi, you, Paul and the boys are welcomed to stay with us (but only if Paul shows us how to cook bangers and mash!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: ). Seriously, you'll always have a place to stay with your Dis friends.

You just never know :scared: :scared: I'm not worried about finding a bed in NY as I know a few folks who happen to live there :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 My problem is the flight ...... as I'm a snob and as I would be travelling on my own I would only fly Upper Class and I just can't justify the cost (well I can't at the moment)

You'll want to explore the day you get in as well. You can sleep when you get home. We arrived at our hotel and checked in at 9am, freshened up a bit, and then set out exploring and did not return to the hotel until 9:30 that night. It was a long day and we had a blast and did not experience jetlag at all. This is what we always do when we fly to the 'other side of the pond'.

Since everything is spread out in London you really need to decide what you want to see and then look at a map and decide the area you want to stay in. We base our hotel in location to a tube station or in this case close to Victoria Station to cut down travel time on embarkation day.
We've also been to London many times and know the area we like to stay in, but this past trip was the first time to stay in the Victoria station area and we did like it. It kept me away from the shops that I like to go to and since we didn't have the time for shopping (:scared1: horrors, I know) it didn't matter that I wasn't close to Oxford Street or Bond Street.

The Park Plaza Victoria London, http://www.parkplaza.com/londonuk_victoria rate was for the 3 of us. Sometimes it can be challenging to find a room for a4.

If you chose to fly with the masses maybe we could be buskers in NYC and collect funds to cover your flight. Not sure we'd get enough to cover upper class. :lmao: :rotfl2:

I just noticed we're roughly 7 pages away from a new thread.

We'll get the links in the info section one way or another. :thumbsup2
