I like Universal -- and we haven't been since the summer of 2006 -- you are right, I think the Simpsons ride is the only new one but I like all the old ones too . . . staying at Portofino which is my favorite hotel there (we've stayed there before as well as at Hard Rock) and with the onsite front of the line passes it's nice to relax and not race to get to things first thing in the morning . . . it's also nice to walk everywhere and not have to wait for buses.
Of course WDW is our first love, and if our arrival next Friday is on time, we will spend the afternoon/evening at Epcot, and the day we get off the ship will go to (probably) AK that day . . .
I like the FOTL passes when you stay onsite, we have stayed both times at the Royal Pacific, I like the rooms and location, but must say the service and staff training there was bad. Maybe the second time I should have gone to Hard Rock.
With FOTL, we are on everything so fast, I know Shrek had a two hour wait and we just went straight into the show, we could finish off and go back to the RP for a swim, its pool is lagoon style and very nice, kids liked that.
One of my favorite rides was back to the future replaced by the Simpson's, but I also like The Mummy, ( better in Hollywood) and Men in black.
Staying both times for 7 nights was too much, I did Clearwater, Kennedy, and Seawold from there as well and still ended up repeating rides.
We just went to Universal this past summer and stayed at Portofino.....we did have fun but I think the highlight was the shopping at Citywalk and the restaurants there! We liked Portofino but the launch back and forth was a little frustrating.
You will have a wonderful time.........
However, my favorite is still staying at any WDW resort!

too, do you want to come and help me?!?

Merry Christmas Andrew!
