7/18/10 Mickey's Baltic Ballyhoo Part 6

Hi Everyone;
Is there a list of the DIS events/times that are planned anywhere? Kids events too? I'm getting into the cruise planning a little late this time, so I may not have time to read through all the threads:)

Also, I have read that we will need to book DCL excursions in order to get off the ship in St Petersburg, since we do not have visas. Is there a way to buy a visa when we get there?

If you don't have a visa, but take a DCL excursion, then can you stay off the ship for the rest of the day, or must you return right after the excursion?

Thanks for any help!

Welcome aboard:cheer2::cheer2:
There is tons of information on the first page of this thread.

For St Petersburg you are running out of time if you don't want to do a DCL tour.
Getting a tour with a private company is the best way to do it without DCL as they provide a blanket visa.
I don't know if it is too late to go with a private tour company for you.

If you google you will find Anastasia, Red October, Den Russ, SPB are some companies that are well known for private tours in St Petersburg. I would email them all asap and see if anyone can accomodate you.

Good luck:thumbsup2

With all the last minute scrambling...I forgot where our Dis meet was ?

I remember the first sea day at 3:00, but where was it again:confused3

Just call me Dory:rolleyes:

Do you know a very funny feeling, you go through various websites looking at information for our forthcoming cruise, and as I do, I had a look through CruiseCritic. I look at the section for Disney Cruise line reading reports and then suddenly as I read threads on 2012, my name comes up and people are discussing me!!!

Now I didnt expect that.

I saw that thread on CC just now, and thought the nasty comments were totally out of line.

If you are not on a DCL trip, or booked with an independent operator, you are stuck on that ship. Tourist visas to travel independently are notoriously difficult to obtain even without alleged spy rings! I also think you may need an interview & I guess it would be too late to book that. St P's is the only port we are doing DCL excursions because I wanted the easy life - DIY in all the others and they were stressful enough to organise!

Hi all putting on my Mod hat here.

Mommasita came on here and posted what she did since it was in response to a reported post from other posters on the boards. We, as mods, do look into all posts that are reported and take action when needed. Obviously she thought action was needed and thus the post.
If anyone is questioning why the post was made and wants further explination please send a PM to her and not debate it on this thread.

Thanks very much.

:headache:I've been on cruise critic looking for information, but some of the posts there can get very mean and just make me cringe.

Diversions or the main lobby

Thanks:thumbsup2

umm ,just for the record, not me:rolleyes1
:littleangel:

ok, trying to get my kids adjusted for the time change before we travel and will be trying to get them up a little earlier than normal starting Monday.

Problem is now that it is summer vacation they are sleeping in late.. real late:headache:

I'm wondering if it will be just my DH and myself exploring London while they sleep off the jet lag in the hotel:rolleyes1

Started early this morning, printed off full itineraries for my mom, brother (the idoit) and my uncle - also gave photo copies of passport for both mom and uncle for just in case

Took mom and did her post office, library, bank and grocery run, and paid her bills, balanced her check books and savings books and ordered her prescriptions so she is set for awhile we are gone

Just one more stop when I pick up the kid from work, need to stop and get new portable phone battery and she needs a few cd's and dvd's for downloading video and pictures

And just ordered cab ride for Monday morning - one way cab fare loads cheaper than parking at the airport in long term parking

then finishing cleaning and packing

KILLJOY! NO FUN!:headache::mad::lovestruc

Ok, am I in the minority here?
I happen to appreciate the Mods very much:grouphug:

Sometimes how funny a joke is depends on who is making it and who they are teasing.
Basically if you go around telling everybody how bad the Mods are and how you are going to leave the DIS Boards after this next cruise...

I'm guessing that was why the comment was taken the way it was:confused3

It would have annoyed me if I had been in their position as well.

But just let's leave it at that....:goodvibes
Nope, you are not in the minority at all! Considering we have a mod here in our group and one who I consider to be a friend, I found his 'joke' to be in very poor taste. It's not the first time he has made a comment like that.

I would guess that Mommasita posted what she did because someone reported AndrewDereks post. So she was doing what she is supposed to do as a Mod. It was hardly some "random Mod" who posted here. She is a mod for the DCL forum.

It's pretty amazing how one person can manage to create so much controversy over and over again.

Yes, I had to keep reminding the crew...no clothes with holes, tears or stains and it has to fit properly too:rolleyes: So we should be casual mostly, but not scruffy as well.

:lmao:Too funny.
I'm always reminding my DD to take a sweater because when we hit the air conditioning in restaurants and theaters she turns to me and complains how she is freezing and invariably gets my sweater:rolleyes:
So does this mean that we won't see the top of your sons boxers above the waistband of his jeans also? :thumbsup2

Since Alana has had Drivers Ed at 8:00 each Monday-Thursday since school has been out, she has HAD to get up early!

Just call me Dory

I have the cutest Dory t shirt that I am bringing

:laundy: is almost done, know I will have at least 1 - 2 more loads before tomorrow night - depends on how many beach towels Kara goes through at work today or tomorrow

The Y runs a required ' in service' training for all lifeguards on a monthly basis and luckly, Kara's is tomorrow

Finally got my letter from DCL about us leaving Stockholm earlier

Ever wonder what this trip would be like if all you had to worry about was getting yourself ready:laughing:

Gotta find me a Dory shirt as that fits me to a T of late:rolleyes:

:rotfl::lmao:No, thankfully he has never picked up that habit. He'd rather spend his money on computer games and I won't buy pants that hang that low.

My Andrew's class starts as soon as we get back in August. Thinking about canceling as he has not been practicing all that much and I doubt he will pass the test at the end of the class:rolleyes:

He did drive us to a nearby store yesterday and stopped for gas on the way home. He's getting there...I was just nervous as heck in the back seat:scared: (DH was guiding him in the front)

Oh I so agree, my mom's is legally blind so everything falls on me, I did leave a note on brother's itinerary that when she calls for something to actually do it for her

I love my Dory shirt and fits me to a t somedays (or so Kara says)

Just got word that one of mom's best friends has had to have Hospice called in, they have known each other forever, and even shared a hospital room when I and her daughter were born

Andrew and Alana are out driving right now. That is his job to drive with her! I can't handle it and panic too much!
