7/14/2014 - 12-Night Mediterranean Cruise (with Greece) Venice to Barcelona

I haven't had any luck either. I thought maybe booking two one-way tickets might be better but the economy class of our return flight shows "sold out" when I try to book a one-way ticket. UGH! Trying not to panic. :(

Can you all imagine if we were on this Sunday's Magic sailing and just found out today the cruise is cancelled? I can't even imagine how sad and depressed I'd be. :( I feel so badly for all those passengers.

I would be so upset...we have never had insurance on any trip now beginning to wonder.....:confused3

I looked at one way tickets and the price was horrible...then did round trip and it was almost half...but we really want to use miles if we can...

I have the one seat on hold and had booked hotels based on it. Good thing the hotels can be cancelled...but darn the flight was just so perfect...:rolleyes1

Denise - I HIGHLY recommend trip insurance. Our flight from Jamaica got cancelled and we were able to book another one before they finally decided it was cancelled rather than delayed. Full refund on the replacement tickets!

The Magic Guests are getting a free cruise and other perks. I'd hate to be in Europe and have it happen, and am happy it's in the US where they have some options at least.

A great all-encompasing trip protection provider is Allianz. Same provider that covers the DCL policy too, only you can cover everything you book yourself, too.

I don't have it yet, but I am planning on getting trip insurance for this trip. I feel terrible for the folks whose trip was cancelled. I would hate to have that happen.

Ok...we are booked for air....I need a drink!!!
It is all on hold until Sunday at which time I will say...book it Dano...

Flying AA on Miles!!! (lots of them too!) First class going...:cool1:
one booked at 50,000 and the other two at 100,000

coming back one gets first class and the other two in coach...
there is a reason...they had one first class seat for 50,000 miles...but only one and the coach is 60,000...

Taxes for flight over are $7.50...return flight is $53...each...
all in all we are happy...
flight back has no overlays!!! Flight over has overlay in Dallas....

I will keep checking to see if they add more of the 50,000 flights, (have watched this before and gotten 1st class cheap!)

We fly to Milan and then travel to Venice...
I think I can exhale now....:goodvibes

Denise - I am so happy for you! Sounds like great arrangements!! First class! Woohoo!

Yay Denise! I'm jealous! I'm curious. How do you get from Milan to Venice? How long? what mode of transport? we are having a devil of a time getting a flight from Athens to Venice on the day we want to go and I haven't looked at other options yet but maybe I need to....

well....we might drive :drive:
or we might find a train... we really don't know yet...:confused3
We were going to go to Athens first for awhile then travel Northern Greece and take a boat over to Venice. Then relatives said don't take a boat fly from Athens to Venice...on Aegean Air...
But we really wanted to use air miles so that is why we are going to Milan..just not that many flights that we could all use miles on...
Also finding hotels that take three people is just not easy...our daughter will be sleeping on a lot of rollaways this trip....:crowded:
I spent so many hours and days on line :surfweb: and then so many phone calls too just to get what we have....it's a full time job planing vacations.

Hi All,

I have no idea if this will help anyone here with finding cheap airfare to Europe, but I just saw this article in our local news about a budget airline called, "Norwegian Air" that will be starting up transatlantic flights between NY, Fort Lauderdale, Fl, and LA to London (Gatwick) starting next July for as low as $240 one way.

Here is the article:

I know nothing about this airline, but the prices are really good, and these prices start July next year. Only thing is you'd have to Venice from London, and from Barcelona to London, but that should be easy.

we are in peek fall foliage season, spectacular :3dglasses

Bright Red Soft Maples and Sumac, Deep Red Hard Maples and Choke Berry, yellow Dogwood and Witch Hazel, glowing Birch and fiery Burning Bush - pixiedust: have to take some time Tuesday and enjoy while I can :moped:

yes, for those of you want to point out this means winter is coming, or the glass is half empty, that's ok because the beauty of the fall foliage is blinding

I do want to visit your state someday....last time I was there I was 4 years old so don't remember it...We were moving from NY to CA...Mom wanted to stay on the family farm but my Dad wanted to move back to CA...so here we are!

Yay! Finally decided that if I'm going to do it, better do it this time around. It's a bucket list thing.
Traveling solo - Kathy in cabin 5127 (DVC pts) so I'll be up on deck a lot.

Haven't read thru all the posts yet, but I'm planning a day or two pre and post.

Been on the inaugural Transatlantic EB and the Baltic cruise. Not to mention the Caribbean several times. Had to check out the Dream and Fantasy too. Looking forward to checking out the NEW Magic!

Welcome aboard, Kathy!!! Lots of fun people on this cruise. I don't think you'll spend much time alone. :)

Wow! How did Zazzle know I love Chip n' Dale AND just got a new iphone? [Ad at bottom of page for Chip n' Dale iphone case. ] (Sorry, off topic)

Hello...my 18 year old daughter (Rheagan) and Mom (Linda - no age given) are cruising on The Disney Magic out of Venice on July 14. This is our first time to travel to Europe and to join a DIS Discussion Forum. We have cruised on Disney before and are DVC members. We look forward to seeing the revamped Disney Magic. We will depart out of Houston a few days prior to sailing so that we can enjoy beautiful Italy. We have yet to make our flight arrangements but have been checking every day or so. My husband will not be able to take off work but we will try to have fun without him! :( Rheagan graduates high school in May of 2014, so this is a combination birthday and graduation present. We are looking forward to touring Greece, relaxing on the ship and eating some really great food in Palo's. Rheagan can't wait to sit in the adult area and provide proof of being of age. We cruised on Disney in March and she was 17 and could not sit in the adult area. I need to catch up on reading on this DIS forum and hope to find a Facebook page for this cruise. Hope to chat with you all along the way. Looking forward to beautiful weather and meeting new friends.
