for those who did a Med/Greek cruise this year...

What did you think about the dining times? early or late...

As a family we have always liked early seating. We have done late once, because early was gone due to us booking the cruise only 3 weeks before it sailed. We didn't care for it and found it just so late to eat. We never made it to any shows before dinner either. (not such a big deal because none were new at that time)

Looking at the onboard times...most are at 6:45pm...we would be at dinner when we sail away...perhaps we shouldn't miss this? In the Baltic leaving each island was a really cool part of the cruise but our on board time was very early around 4-5 ish.

Most times when we cruise we do port things on our own, we get up not too early but early enough....the ashore times are all early on this cruise!! Eating late and getting up early... but it's GREECE!!! Who wants to miss this???
Last cruise we did in Greece we got up but 11 am because we were up until almost 2 each night...the ship, well really a boat...would dock around 11am at each island and stay there until 6 am the next day...the islands were close together!
Eating at 9 or even 10 pm was the Greek way!!

So I am just wondering and would love your input....

We were on the most recent Greek cruise as well as the Baltic you mentioned both with early dinning. We prefer early dining. It was fine in all the Greek Ports. We didn't feel rushed. From what I remember everyone still dressed for dinner. For those going to Florence and Rome and getting back on board late (just like in Berlin) they were very accommodating. But that really wasn't necessary in any of the Eastern Med ports. I would do the dining time you typically prefer.

Regarding sailing out. The med is beautiful for sure, but there nothing that will compare to the sailing in/out of Oslo and Stockholm. Malta is likely the best of the sail outs. It's like sailing past a giant sand castle. But if you happen to be up early enough to see the sail in to Malta, I liked that better probably because the temperature was a lot cooler. Malta gets hot.

Funny, those smaller local cruise lines must be similar. DW an DD were on Louis, the ship was smaller and had served its life on a bigger cruise line and Louis picked it up second had. They had small room and said food was only ok and limited amount. Each day was off in port the whole day and back on the ship just to get to the next island. DD got back and said, well it sure wasn't Disney

We also would normally do early dining, as late dining is really too late for us, but for this itinerary, we decided we wanted to be able to stay on shore as late as possible, still be able to watch sail away each day, and maybe hit our favorite shows, so we went with the late dining. There were days when we were back early enough to make early dining, but we would have missed sail away. We would end up going to bed right after dinner, and we had no trouble getting up early enough for the early arrival in ports.

Does anyone know if you buy your tickets through Delta, but the flight is operated by KLM, can you still use the Delta check in counter in Barcelona?

Don't know now but in 2010 we did Northwest and flew back on a flight operated by KLM, no problem. Since Delta takeover don't know what relationship they have.

Getting ready for our Panama Canal Cruise and checking our Venice pricing so I could cancel and re-book onboard, Maybe Not ! To duplicate our reservation, the pricing has jumped 22.11 percent Let's see, 10 % OBB discount, transfer to TA for additional 8 1/2% credit = $ 450 short. Staying with opening day booking looks like best option now

I was on the June 27th 12 night with Venice sailing. I had planned on booking this cruise while on board. Unfortunately for me, I didn't do it as soon as we boarded and by the time I did book it, while still on the cruise, the price for the veranda that I wanted had jumped more than $1000. No veranda for me this time, but at least I've got an ocean view....

We have just got off the Magic (25th July) sailing and booked this on board. The price increased over $200 in four days, DH a bit mad, because although she wrote the quote down, she didn't 'save' it on the system!

Not 100% sure we will stick with this, depends on the 2015 itinerary, as we may knock it forward. I have also found an almost exact cruise with Celebrity that is a lot cheaper (but of course it isn't Disney!).

Travelling with DH and DD who will be 9, nearly 10 when we cruise.

We have been to most of the stops and always do our own thing.

Hey, MPS, make sure you book another cruise onboard regardless, then use it for your 2015. You look like a repeat offender, so you can roll that one (two?) staterooms right into a lovely little discount on release day rates for another European (alaskan, panamanian, asian, whatever) Disney Cruise. Just because our itinerary has outpriced your rebooking, doesn't mean you can't take advantage of it before the 2015 ships post. Something tells me you already knew that, so just posting in case someone is interested.

Does anyone know how often they change the entertainment? We sailed on the Magic in Feb of 2012. Will the shows be the same?

By the time you sail, almost all shows should regen. Also, on port days, Disney tends to not have shows, as most are focused on the ports. I don't think we saw a show at all on our last med cruise, just too enamored of being in Europe (and trying to keep my daughter from all the Italian boys.)
