I saw this on multiple posts on tripadvisor. I'm going to go over to the DLP site and ask specific questions about this.

I did do a google search and saw that this is truly the case, but not all hotels enforce this. I'm sure the disney ones won't, but alas, the explorer's will.

Apparently you can buy speedos from a vending machine poolside.

And no, this is not a joke! Check out some of the reviews on tripadvisore for the thomas cook explorer's hotel.

OMGosh! I thought the speedos thing was a joke! I guess we will be skipping the pool as neither my DH or youngest DS will wear anything but swim shorts. We are staying at Disney's Newport Bay...maybe they might bend the rules for tourists-lol.

Cruise docs are in our hands, too! I am so impressed with our 2-page itinerary! We haven't ever been on a cruise long enough for an itinerary needing 2 pages!

It's been a long time since we've used Disney transport. We are arriving a couple of days in advance and using Disney to get to our hotel. We collect our bags at the airport ourselves, correct? Or do we check at home airport and not see them till we get to hotel?

Just posting this to inform you about the speedo's in France

In all disney and disney good neigbour hotel all swimshorts speedo's, etc are welcome, i am staying 6 times a year in a dlrp hotel and I know for sure this is NOT obligated..so have a magical stay in Paris !!

My biggest concern is Rome. So much to see in such little time!!! Not to mention how far it is from the port.

We've been to Rome a couple of times and I'm STILL FREAKING OUT. I keep considering the Rome on your own tour with Disney, but no, going to take the train.

This is a response I got back from someone on the DLP boards about the speedo type swim wear for males.

Just back from a stay there and the rule is definitely enforced (it must be recent as we've stayed before and it wasn't in place then). They actually have a vending machine for you to purchase the correct shorts if you don't have them.
They need to be either the speedo style or the cycling shorts style .

It seems that at the explorer's you COULD wear regular trunks in the past, but no longer. Sorry to contradict you missesjoyce.

I am watching it too right now! So excited to go back to see it again. Last time we were there, the interior still had a lot of scaffolding and you could not really see much inside. I really want to compare it to our last visit to see the progress that has been made.

Found out a strange rule today. That public pools in France require men to wear speedos...swim shorts are not allowed.

Not sure how that's going to go over with my kids. We picked the Explorer's Hotel specifically for the pool...hmmm.

From our experience and travels throughout Europe, that is correct with the speedos, but it is only in public pools. Think like a waterpark or community pool. A hotel with many tourists from around the world does not have that same type of rule. Yes, you can buy swim suits from vending machines poolside. Both speedos and a basic tank suit for women. My daughter in fact bought one from the vending machine at the hotel at Euro Disney one year when we forgot to pack her own suit, she actually loved the suit and wore it other times as well.

The reason for this from what I can gather is that the usual male swim trunks have rivets and are baggy and these can get stuck on and get ripped on stairs, slides, etc.

I guess the explorer's hotel is has changed its rules.

But funny how the safety issue with swim shorts isn't a problem in the US and Canada.

I am so glad we are not going to any public pools in France! Seeing my DH in a speedo would not be a pretty sight ROFL!!

We finally got our docs! Yay!! Starting to get soo real now! I'm actually getting nervous that I'm not going to get everything done that we need to before hand.

Of course Delta is not helping...ugh! For some reason, when I pull up our reservation on line, only my DM's passenger info comes up. I can enter all her info (DOB, address etc), see her seat, change if I want, etc but can't get any of the rest of our stuff to show no matter what I do. I try using our individual e-ticket numbers, still DMs info comes up instead. Try clearing cookies, nothing. I used 3 different browsers, same thing. I tried calling Delta and after being on hold forever, the CSR told me she didn't know what the problem was but that she could see us all on her screen, we all have seats and not to worry about it....and preceded to try to talk me into the Delta credit card & other crap LOL. It's driving me insane bc I "need" to have all my paperwork in order! I'm totally OCD that way.
