Actually it's been a rough couple of days for him. He came down with a cold yesterday, and started complaining about his ear hurting him. So, DH dismissed him from school early, to take him to the Doctor, since this is recurrence #3 of this ear infection this winter. The kicker to all of this, is that we fly out on Friday to go to Bonita Springs to visit my parents. :( I think he will be fine, as we have 4 days to get his meds into him, and we flew to WDW last month with an ear infection as well.

Then, while getting ready for bed, Mother of the Year (that would be yours truly) knocked out one of his loose teeth with the facecloth. Poor kid.

Methinks the Tooth (Tooth not Tag) Fairy might be a little generous tonight since he is sick, and going on vacation soon.

Aww, poor little guy! Ear infections are no fun at all. Luckily you have alittle time to get him all fixed up.

Have fun on your trip!

Awww, poor boy!! He just isn't having much luck with those ear infections, is he? I hope that the meds kick in soon and that he will be feeling better shortly. I also hope you all have a wondeful vacation

Elaine--we are the poster children for ear infections.

And he is right on the edge. Not bad enough to need tubes, but just bad enough to make him miserable for a couple of days each time.

OK--and everyone, remind me please when you see me DISing, DON'T FORGET THE MEDS (like I did last time  )

My poor Lil pal:( Please tell him that I hope he is feeling better soon. Those pesky ear infections just seem to be going around and around this year:( Have a great trip and enjoy the sun! I know I will Sistah! Hey BTW, I have seen you in action MOM and you are a Mother of the Year!!!!!!

When I read your OP, I was going to tell you not to forget the meds, but you requested the reminder before I could. :) But here goes: DON'T FORGET THE MEDS, DEBBIE!

I hope your little guy is feeling better really soon.

Sending PD that your DS is feeling better soon and I'm sure that the tooth fairy was very generous since he was having such a hard time.::yes::

Are you still giving him the meds?:teeth:

:( Poor guy! Hope he gets to feeling better real quick and can
enjoy the trip!

DON'T FORGET THE MEDS! I forgot ours a couple years ago and went to the Eckerds for the ear drops I forgot at home. Since they didn't take our insurance in Fl. $80 later we were set up but, sure expensive!

Hi
I don't want to sound overly critical of your doc. but my 5 1/2 yrs old had his frist ear infection in sept and the fluid never left (totaly filled his ears infact.) Upon the 2 week check up our dr said he's all set. NOT he ended up with decreased hearing and all sorts of things. This lead us to an Ear nose and throat dr. He took one look and was like OMG his ears are full, he was put on antibiotics (very low dose) to ward off infection and tubes were put in in dec. Everything is normal now and he hears great. I had been noticing a decrease in listening but I thought it was typical of that age group and the whats are very typical. He has always had trouble with pressure in his ears but regular drs never found anything. This was from the time he was 9 mos he' pull and cry.
the ent dr said most regular drs unless the fluid is like a glass 1/2 full many drs wont see or reconize the fluid.
JMHO

tiggereyore--nope, not overly critical at all. We watch his ears VERY carefully all winter. I was the poster child for bad ears as a child, and seem to have passed this gene on to DS.

We did the maintenance antibiotics 2 winters ago from the end of Jan-March. The doctor has given us a couple of pediatricians in the area we will be in, that take our insurance, so if he still is not right, we can get him seem while down there. And, we will be back with our ped for a re-check when we return.

Has the pediatriciation ever mentioned having ent's look at him? They'd be the one's to do the tubes. If he's had that many and you had problems ( this sounds just like my DH and DS) if you can get a referal to ent then you'd really know whats going one. Ours is a very long story I'll only touch on parts ( if you want more please feel free to ask) Starting at 9 mos with allergies and runny nose from march to Nov, ear pain all winter on and off, but never any signs of problems (HAHA) at 9 mos started with benadryl for the (suposid sp?) allergies at 18 mos changed o Claritin, at just under 5 changed to zyrtec and singular and had skin test done at just over 5 only allergic to alternara mold ( explains things statring in march we thought. then Sept hit and the 1st true infection hit temp of 104 and all that happy stuff blew me over since he's never had an ear infection before. and had always had fevers with the ear pain. Well I'd had enough school didn't notify me of failed tests but I'd already on my own called the ENT (customer of DH) at home no less and he asked a million ?'s about DS and DH. DH had t+a out at 5 (imagine that) of course we had to jump through all the hoops but when we got to glenn (ENT) he walked out the the secretary and said you schedule this here and if anything eariler comes up let me know this is extreme for amount of fluid. Well the first big snow storm in dec gave us the chance we need for eairlier because the airports were closed and glenn couldn't get to LA. DS was a trooper and recovered so fast. Oh yah those allergies turned out to be infected adnoids. His nose hasn't run even from winter yuck and he hasn't had a cold! I'm just amazed. Sorry if this is more info than you wanted I just never imagined being in that spot.
