Hi everyone, we are planning on heading to Dlp for 4 nights on Tuesday January 6th, or know the 6th + 7th will still be official Christmas days in the parks but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the parks at this time and how busy or quiet I should expect it to be.

Thanks

I haven't been at this time, but I believe that early January after the schools go back is one of the quietest times to visit DLP :)

Hi

We are in the Park at the same time as you so I am interested in this too. The only difference I am aware of is that Santa will have flown back to the North Pole for some well earned r&r. This will be our Christmas holiday this year so I am hoping that apart from that the atmosphere will still be there.

As the French winter sales start on the 7th January I am hoping we may grab a few bargains in the Park boutiques too. :)

The Spanish celebrate Kings Day on 6th Jan so that day could be very busy but should get bethere after that. :)

It was actually cheaper to arrive on the 6th than it was the day before or day after so I am hoping this might mean it won't be heaving with spanish holiday makers.

Our trip will be a gift from Santa so we are hoping that it will be still somewhat christmassy and that even though DLP list the christmas programme until the 7th that they wont start switching over until the 8th

Does anyone know what ride lines are like at this time of the year and also if restaurant reservations would be necessary

Thanks

We went from the 4-6th Jan last year and the weekend was really busy but by the 6th it was much quieter. Still very Christmassy tho!

We were in DLP at this time last year and the resort was very quite, the majority of the rides were walk-on, and the parks and hotels were still decorated for Christmas.

You will also get the benefit of seeing both the Christmas and the normal version of Dreams! which was great fun. Also the Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony are still running, but unfortunately you will not be able to meet Santa.

We really enjoyed our January trip, but I found it just a bit strange as we have always gone in early December for the Christmas season so your all in the mood for Christmas. Going in January was still fun - but just felt strange was we had already had Christmas if you know what I mean.

But we got into the mood and wore our Christmas hats on the way out on the Eurostar and in the resort for the day.

No matter what time of year we go I always make our restaurant reservations in advance so we do not get disappointed on the day if our chosen restaurant is closed or full or we have to wait for a table. But I am a mad planner.

I really hope you're right as I've booked to go from 5th - 9th January 2016. :thumbsup2 Was on Trip Advisor I read that 6th can be busy with Spaniards but great if not the case.

I just booked our flights for jan 3rd-6th, would hav luv to have gone pre xmas but just couldnt get dates to suit : ( . Anyway once dd2 meets Anna she will be happy. I know we were in dlp for the 6th in 09/10 and rem it been busy. Would the spanish holidays really impact dlp crowds??

They can do. We were there in June this year before schools broke up in France or UK and parks were manageable most of week. On the Thursday they were heaving, even walking around wasn't easy with the crowds. A cm told me hotels were fully booked that night and all weekend and that it was because Spanish school holidays had started.

Hope you have a lovely time. Would love to hear about it when you get back. :goodvibes

That is exactly what I am worrying about - a bit strange celebrating Christmas all over again after New Year.

I'm also worried that Christmas won't seem the same without our usual pre-Christmas DLP trip to kick things off. Like you we have always gone in early December but this year we couldn't go until much nearer Christmas when it is much more expensive and busy. It is a trade off and I know we will enjoy ourselves whatever but I keep hoping against hope that I get a sudden bargain opportunity to go just before Christmas as well... Fat chance! :rotfl:

Thanks anemone!! , I know it wont be the same as pre xmas but im going with the mind is not an xmas trip more a princess finding trip esp Anna ; ) . Unfortunately even if we got a super cheap deal we just cant go pre xmas this year : (

You might also be lucky and be there for the start of the January sales, when you seen some really good offers in the stores. With discounts from 50% - 70% off, nothing like a bit of Disney retail therapy to bring a smile to your face.

We used to always go early January, very cold but no q's for rides, some refurbishments going on. We gave to our girls for Christmas and they were Soooo excited especially our first trip. Enjoy

By the sound of it , it should be reasonably quiet. There seems to be a good few of us traveling at the same time. I have had a quick look at the ride closures and I think the only major one that I can see is Crush in The Sudios, which is a let down for us as my kids where to little to ride it last trip.

I think the EMH will be for the studio that week as well

We hav never done emh in the studios, im not sure we will bother either. Its more shows we enjoy there. I think only slinky and flying carpets are the only rides we do there. Our first morn there is also emh in the main park will prob do that alright.
